The Spot is a nice place along Seawall that has a fair selection of food and drink with a unique atmosphere. I gave 4 stars because it wont let me select 3.5 stars It is right across from the beach and in the middle of the Seawall Blvd bar area. Parking is tight, even in the back or with a Pay-by-Phone permit for street parking. The bottom floor gets very crowded during the summer and seating can be difficult. It is also the same temperature as outside (stifling heat in the summer, cold in winter). The upstairs area is more spacious with a nice view of the ocean and sea breeze blowing in. They are friendly to big groups; my department had a social event there once which went smoothly. It is the only place in Galveston that shows UFC PPVs; you have to pay a cover for the Rum Shack but not the Tiki bar. The ordering line can go out the door during the summer, so it is recommended to order at the bar. The bartenders occasionally mishear and even mix up orders with all the noise. They pay the most attention to the rowdiest customers. There is one obnoxious drunk guy who randomly shouts "Go Cowboys" for no reason whom I have come close to smacking that gets a lot of love from the staff. Being a more reserved person I typically get ignored; I often have to stand and flag down bartenders. The food is generally good quality and reasonably priced; just be prepared to wait a while for it (this is not McDonalds). When you go to pick up your order you will pass the toppings bar where you can pick out a variety of toppings for sandwiches. It is not uncommon to lose your seat if you get up to use the restroom; that goes with being crowded in the bar. It would be nice if they started showing UFC events upstairs too. This review might sound negative, but dont get me wrong: the Spot is a quality establishment with solid management. I am just trying to write a Gods-honest review. It is a good place to come alone or with a partner to get a burger and beer while catching a sporting event or after a day at the beach. For a family restaurant you should go to Millers Seawall Grill, Fish Tales, or Chilis. Pros: Nice location across from the beach Good, moderately priced food and drink Friendly to big groups Upstairs has nice view and breeze Shows many sporting events Cons: Gets crowded Parking can be difficult Loud bikers parked out front Can be hard to get attention from bartenders

I havent been to The Spot in about 7 years, but the last time I came here I enjoyed it very much. But, let me start off by saying, for you Non-Galvestonians/Non-Texans. The Spot, during most hours of the day has people constantly coming in and out with lines like you couldnt imagine. As a teenager I loved this place and have been trying to go back to enjoy it again, but adult life has not been kind in that regard and this place is always busy as hell. First, the menu for me changed a lot. To be expected since I hadnt been there in a while. I didnt really like most of the choices, but I settled for the overpriced Fish & Chips. Now, like I said the place normally is packed and insane, but today almost nobody was inside and it was 1230 that afternoon; a typical busy time. Order took 25 minutes for a Poboy and Fish & Chips and I couldnt imagine waiting and eating here when it has its normal crowd. The Fish & Chips were overbattered and underseasoned. A $40 lunch in the trash. Wouldnt even give it to the nosey pigeons who were circling me while I tried to force this garbage food down. I ate most of the fries because they were actually decent, but the fish was awful. So nasty and maybe 25% was fish and all else was underseasoned batter. The food was warm when it came out and cold by the time I came back from getting condiments. As a Galvestonian who sees this place regularly; all of you who are traveling to the island, the reviews left on here are all by fake and basic people who are raving mad over this damn place for reasons they dont even know. Youll wait for an hour or more and youre not going to like the food. If youre fake and just want to show your friends that you went to a "cool" looking restaurant with your swimsuit and suntan and snap a selfie then by all means, but it seems to me that the only people eating here are the tourists and some occasional construction workers who dont frequent the island. Stop giving The Spot good reviews and let this place tank so a better restaurant can take over. And I will agree with everyone on this. The view is pretty nice.

We live in Fort Worth and for years have been going to Galveston for vacations and tried many, many restaurants, which most were just a waste of time and money, but never made it to this place because it was always too busy and I didnt want to wait.......boy was I wrong to pass it by!! Finally stopped in with my family the last trip we made in May 2017 and let me say, THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! The staff was very friendly (not just the cashier, but ALL the staff), the atmosphere was very pleasant, the prices were great and the food was excellent! My son and I ordered burgers, my daughter ordered a kids grilled cheese sandwich and my wife ordered a seafood sampler so you could say we had a bit of variety there. The burgers were HUGE, cooked right, and with the little bar of "fixins" you can load up on any toppings you want to make it like you want. The onion rings were some of the best I have ever tried and had a pretty generous helping as well. My wifes seafood sampler was excellent all the way around (actually better than a bunch of the island seafood restaurants), everything tasted great! Our food came out quickly, and was perfect, which with many places on the island is not possible. The restaurant was pretty busy when we stopped by so getting everything that good impressed me even more. To top it off, they didnt stick it to me with the price, which being right on the seawall across from the beach with an awesome view I figured they would, but it was actually very great prices and with the large portions, we felt it was actually a great deal! I cant say enough how impressed we were with this place, we have definitely found our regular "spot" to go when we visit, and with the variety of food they offer, we can actually go quite often and still get different meals. If you are in Galveston and dont like high "island" prices or crappy food, skip the rest and come here first, you wont regret it, and neither will your wallet!! Thanks guys and well see you next time we are there!!

We generally visit Galveston a few times a year and upon rolling in town, The Spot is usually our first stop for food. This trip was no exception. We know its crowded, after all, were regulars. And without fail, yesterday, the line was out the door. Everything went the way it normally does: stood in line, ordered food ($55 worth for 1 adult and 2 kids), got drinks, found a table, .....wait...... Yesterday, we had a long wait. Again, not complaining as they were busy. However, when my buzzer went off and I went to get our food, it was missing. Long story short, some lady took my seafood platter and poboys to her table although thats not what she ordered (she claimed she cant remember what she ordered). Of course they had to remake my food. The poboys we got in minutes, the seafood platter was another long wait so they offered to bring it to me. First try... they brought it and the order was wrong so they had to take it back to fix it. Second try... it was correct but the seafood was cold and hard and the plate was sloppy... totally disappointing! I went downstairs and said something to the food line manager (Ashley - I think was her name ) She was apologetic but had an "ok, and..." Look on her face, even though I told her we may never patronize the restaurant again. She never offered to remake it or anything. I packed my food to go while my kiddos ate.... Finally I saw the manager Eric who was trying to resolve another clients complaint. I told him the situation and he promptly refunded my meal. Good thing too, I ended up tossing it all. I doubt Ill be back at The Spot. It wasnt about the food, but more about that line managers attitude. Im kinda bummed though, they were part of our tradition.
