I have mixed feelings about this place. Upon our arriving there it took about 30 minutes for them to come over and get our order (did not even come previously to offer drinks and appetizer) but this was an extremely busy Saturday at 8 PM. We originally wanted to go to Pluckers and they had a 40 minute wait time just to get a table, so the fact that they even had an open spot was most likely a miracle, so I would not poo-poo them for that. Just be conscious of the time and day you go there. We started with their fried calamari, a traditional favorite for the both of us. The squid itself was a little overcooked, my husband thought it was much so, but the breading and sauce (which was of a ginger kind) was very good. I got the Royal Thai Curry and the flavor was very good (tasted much like curry and had a nice sweetness but not too sweet) but I was not very impressed with the ingredients. First note that the curry here is actually more like a soup, which is what Thai curry is supposed to be like, but at the time I did not know this and was a bit surprised by that fact as I was used to Indian curry. The chicken was all dark meat (although this is traditional), the potatoes seemed very under-cooked, almost raw, and I found a small piece of sharp bone in a piece of chicken, but the flavor was VERY good and paired excellently with the highly fragrant jasmine tea that we ordered. My husband got a seafood curry (also like mine, sweet but not too sweet, and had a drastically different flavor due to being seafood and basil) which I sampled and it was very good, he said he thoroughly enjoyed it. It was basil based and the fish in it was good, not overcooked and not overpoweringly fishy. We then got the green tea cheesecake which has no crust and I have no complaints about that. It did not taste strongly of green tea which I am used to green tea treats tasting like, but those who do not enjoy strong green tea flavor may appreciate that fact. It was also wonderfully complimented by the jasmine tea, I very much enjoyed taking a bite and drinking some tea as the two tasted very good together. Overall it had its high and low points and I may consider going again, but being that my curry was very disappointing and I could make a better one at home, I dont see it being likely. I am still giving 4 stars because overall it was pretty good, it was just the curry that I found disappointing.

HORRIBLE with the online ordering features... A work colleague of mine and I went through yelp to group order and split paying the ticket, BIG mistake. Her order went through ok, mine did not event though we were using the identical delivery address. It wouldnt accept my order and said my delivery site was outside their area of service. We initiated a IM Help ticket but they were SOOOOO SLOW in typing back, literally 5 minutes between messages. So we asked for a Help Line # and called. That gentleman was even less helpful. - They couldnt locate the order and my coworker checked her bank account and saw the amount she had paid was missing. She received a confirmation email with out a confirmation #. We hung up on him and called Royal Thai directly. - They were INSISTENT that they dont partner with YELP at all....had no record of our order either. The gentleman I spoke with on the phone had no trouble hearing my call until I started to place our order Again. Then he told me to hang up and call back...seriously??? I have eaten there before and if you dine in, there arent issues. Its when you expect them to do their job with delivery orders...why offer delivery if it is too much of a hassle???

Will not recommend, Im sorry to say this, but especially if your skin color isnt white. Three of us went there on Friday night, took us 15-20 minutes to get the table. Thats ok, it was a Friday night. We were in a corner table. No waitress came and nobody offered water for almost 20 minutes. My friend had to go tell the attendant upfront. Not to mention there were waitresses walking back and forth not even looking at our table. Finally waitress came, no apology even after our friend pointed out that she forgot about us. After order another 25 minutes to serve bland curry. If i have to season my own food, why would i go to a restaurant. Us and other Asian couple were the only non caucasian customers. White customer who were sat down after us got service and food even before we got our menus. Clearly, i do not recommend an overpriced ( 66 dollars for just 3 entrees n milk tea)and discriminatory establishment.

My friends and I decided to go to this restaurant after a long day at Six Flags Over Texas. Never in my life have I been to a Thai restaurant with a dress code (We were wearing t-shirts, tanks, shorts). They refused to let us in the indoor dining which is ridiculous since theyre next to a Panda Express, Fuddruckers, and Pluckers. Come on! This did not give me a good first impression. I was able to try the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew which both were good. Nothing special though like the Yelp reviews said. I didnt like how you could only choose chicken with the Pad Thai as Im more of a beef person. The portion size was good and the waitress was nice. I feel they put a lot of MSG though because on the way back to Austin from our road trip, all of us got really thirsty. But this is typical in Asian restaurants (just make sure to ask for no msg when you order).

Okay, I dont get the reviews where people write that the food is terrible or the service is terrible. Have you ever even been to Royal Thai??! It is my go-to staple-- the best Thai food in the metroplex. I LOVE Thai food and have tried close to a hundred Thai restaurants over the years. (I have lived in lots of different cities and travel all over the country for work.) Royal Thai has fantastic food, lots of vegetarian options, great & attentive service, a nice atmosphere, AND its inexpensive! If you order one appetizer and 2 dinner plates, you can get out of there for $30-35. I recently took two business clients there for lunch, and with their lunch specials, it cost $24! The food quality and taste is outstanding, just be prepared to wait up to 20 min if you are eating at a peak time- Fri/Sat nights especially. FIVE STARS!!!

Arrived for dinner with a few friends at around 6:30ish. Parking was packed because of the abundance number of other restaurants and shops in the area but not the worst. There was no wait to get seated but the restaurant had a modest account of business. Also very clean restrooms. I got the royal Thai curry which was very good. There was a good amount of meat and vegetables in it and was very saucy. When asking to take the rest of my curry to go, the waitress took it and packaged it for me. Very pleasantly surprised since I would have made a big mess. Anyway great food, service, and bathrooms. Highly recommend!

The food was a bit on the sweet side. The waitress was nice on my first solo visit. On my second visit, the hostess did not bother greeting me, but remained on the phone to grimace at me before returning to her phone call. The manager approached me and upon learning I needed seating for only one, he immediately went to the couple behind me and offered them seating. There remained ample seating throughout the restaurant. The restaurant aesthetics and food do not exhibit the high quality expected for its reputation, much less its customer service. Royal Thai lost a customer today.
