A Dallas staple for great seafood, a laid back and fun atmosphere, and isnt as well known as it could be, and thats a good thing Pros: Food, atmosphere, service, no frills Cons: Limited seating and parking Going to Aw Shucks needs to be a team effort, someone go get a table while the other goes inside and orders a pitcher of XX, a shrimp cocktail and a cup of shrimp and sausage gumbo. Take a minute to enjoy your appetizers, sip your cups of beer and plot your next tasty adventure. This place is simple - 1) go inside and order, 2) sit down and wait for your name to be called, 3) enjoy a yummy no frills feast 4) keep track of what you ordered and pay before you leave. Ive had pretty much everything on the menu - Crab (great but not huge), Oysters (fresh, but Ive had better in Boston), Po Boys, (on par with New Orleans), catfish filet (battered and heavenly), Crawfish (no frills and medium size), and Shrimp (medium size but legit). I love this place because it is exactly what you expect and becomes a place you want to return over and over again. There is a sense of community throughout the small restaurant and everyone is looking for the same thing - great food, drinks, and warm weather. It is hard to park and although you might find that a lot of people may have never been there, its always busy and its first come first serve seating. Growing up in Plano, this is where my Dad took me and my brothers when we could get away for the weekend! I plan to take my son. I would highly recommend and cant wait to go back for more Crawfish!

My family and I went to this restaurant for the first time 04/27/2016 for my mothers birthday. You order your food and drinks inside then sit outside to eat an you then pay outside at the register. You tell the cashier all you ordered . Every customer that went up there the cashier took their word on what they ordered and allowed them to pay. Once me and my father went to the register to tell what we ordered an pay the cashier had a paper hidden behind the register with all the things we had ordered as if we was not going to tell the truth about what we had ordered .After we had told her what we ordered she then told us well this paper say different . I felt discriminated against because we were African American . We had a party of 6 and 2 kids . My father was paying for the whole dinner the bill came out to 150$ . I feel like we spent that kind of money to be treated as if we were criminals or liars because of our skin color . the food was ok but customer service sucks I WILL NOT NOR WILL MY FAMILY EVER EAT THERE AGAIN.

Walk in to order then seat yourself. Lots of boiled food, prices were a little higher than expected. I paid $22 for half a pound of snow crab, half pound shrimp, some potatoes, corn, and sausage. The weight of crab is judged by cluster here, generally half a pound is one cluster. However, this cluster was small and definitely not a half pounder. The shrimp are head-on, that accounts for about 30% of the weight. They were over cooked and mushy. They didnt poke their potatoes so they didnt have flavor, their corn isnt very good (Ive never had bad corn). I cant really describe it, maybe flavorless corn? Their sausage was alright. The boil tastes like normal Zatarains powdered crab boil so the flavor is to be expected. Partial self service (they bring you your food after you sit) 10 minute wait for food Pay up front when you leave - they take your word for what you ordered as no one keeps track Was in a truck so parking was difficult, not very much parking. Plenty of tables Covered outdoor eating

I have to start by saying my family has been coming to this local treasure for over 30 years and I grew up eating this stuff. This place is a dump in that its a dirty hole in the wall and I wouldnt trade it for anything! Such a great vibe!!! The staff changes all the time but most of them are super nice and very helpful. Eating here in the summer can be really hard since you have to eat outside, however the side can hold maybe 8 people if you dont mind sitting at a counter on a stool. Aside from aw shucks not being an elegant seafood restaurant, the food is great!! I always get the shrimp basket and when its available the halibut is amazing. It can be pricey at times but for the most part I think its reasonable. This is definitely my favorite place to get seafood, an absolute must try!!

This place was not that appealing to the palate the fish was fried with no salt or seasoning the outdoor area where you would love to be on a nice sunny day like we were we had to fight off the Flies wasnt a pleasant meal the hush puppies were also a little doughy inside like they were not all the way cooked through can a rushed but the coconut shrimp was awesome the snow crab legs were awesome french fries but not so much good and I am a french fry connoisseur the staff was very friendly and nice overall it was an OK spot its just that if you serving catfish on Irving you it should be seasoned thats just my opinion but you should go and try it for yourself

Theres not a whole lot to complain about when you are stuffing your face full of seafood on a hot summer day with the misters blowing in your face as youre throwing back "literally" pitchers of beers. Aw Shucks goes with a dry seasoning versus a boil of sauces and spices. Which doesnt necessarily pack a lot of flavor but the good in it is that you actually can taste and appreciate the quality of the seafood itself. Fresh boiled shrimp and mud bugs dipping it in liquified butter sauce with some tabasco. Crackin them snow crab legs and drenching it in cocktail sauce - down with beer and repeat. okay. now im drooling. cant wait to go back.

Are the good reviews paid? I just came from there. Waited 45mins for my order and heavily disappointed at the ridiculous excuse of a meal we got. Im Mexican and its pretty damn sad when mexicans working in the kitchen cannot make good tacos. The tacos i got were some basic flour tortillas with nothing but a charred dry piece of cheap tasting fish inside. And they gave us RANCH. How about tartar sauce how its supposed to be. I couldve made something that wouldve looked like a 5 star meal next to this mess and im no good cook by any means. How are these people still in business?? Id give this -5 stars if i could. $45 down the drain...

I blush for Aw Shucks. This has been my familys go to seafood joint for as long as I remember and Ive kept coming back. Go for the crawfish while theyre in season or share a summer platter; they use a dry seasoning which I think helps maintain the original flavors. If youre in the mood for fried seafood, their fried shrimp and catfish are fantastic. The batter isnt very flavorful but they use cornmeal and it gives it a really great texture. My third option, but equally good, is to go for raw oysters. A little pricey for the size but thats to be expected in Dallas.
