So let me start off with this, "Hotel." Our flight arrived early, which we knew arriving there it was going to be way before check in time was. We arrived at the front desk and asked if they had a room available for Platinum Marriott member. We usually never have a issue, however we were told they did not, which again, it was not that big of a issue. We asked to leave our bags at the hotel, because we were going to be exploring the city, which we were allowed to do. While the front desk clerk was tagging our bags, we asked what the benefits at t his particular hotel would be for Platinum Members. We were told, they would tell us later once we checked in. The front desk clerk stated he would call us when our room was ready. At 3:15 pm, we arrived back at the hotel to inquire about our room. We were told by another front desk clerk, that our room had been ready for awhile. She checks us in, we convey our frustration to her, which she promptly apologizes and does try immensely to make up for it. We were given keys to our room and we proceeded up to it. I do not remember the room, however we go inside of it and lay on the bed. This was by far, the most uncomfortable Marriott bed I have ever been in. I examined the bed and noticed the sheet was not fitted to the bed. I went over to the corner and tried to fit the bed sheet back onto the bed. When I tried, I was unable to pull it down, however I was poked by (2) two springs out of the corner of the bed. I called back to the front desk and required that the General Manager, Front Desk Manager, and Housekeeping Manager respond to the room to take a look. Although that was the request, the same front desk girl came up to try and move us to another room and again apologize. We were moved (2) two doors down to another room, Once walking inside of this room, it had a overwhelming smell of mold and wetness in the room. After being in this room for approximately 20 minutes, I started to have breathing issues. Medically and for health hazards we were unable to stay in this room, so we went to the Front Desk to convey our frustration. We were given keys to a new room to try. Once inside of the room, it was nicer along with a great view. Bed sheets and bed still had same issue as far as sheets not fitting and bed being uncomfortable. I have traveled all over the world and have stayed at plenty of Marriotts. We did knock them on Yelp, advising the same things from a different point of view. The hotel, did apply Marriott points to our account. You would think that a General Manager that is and was aware would personally make contact with guest that are having issues with his hotel, but that was never the case. Please do not take my word for it, please look at the 1 star rating the hotel acquires on Yelp and Trip Advisor. If you decide not to and you are a loyal Marriott Reward member, I can almost guarantee you will regret staying here! Be very very aware if you stay here!

CONS: Horrible location, there is nothing close to this hotel you must drive to go anywhere but the convention center next door. Hotel needs to be updated Elevators are slow, this could possibly because there was a sorority gathering there in which these young ladies liked to take the elevators up and down one floor to visit friends. The rooftop pool is awful, the walls are so high that you cant even tell that you are on the roof. Why didnt they make the walls see-through? Mattresses are old and need to be replaced. Besides breakfast, the restaurant in the hotel is very expensive. Service in the restaurant is slow PROS: Gym looks nice There are washers and dryers with soap in the gym to do laundry The breakfast buffet was very good. GET THE CITY VIEW! We arrived early to check and were told that our room wasnt ready but that we would be called when it was ready (this was at 10 a.m. I inquired about the Platinum benefits, so we could plan our meals). We were told that all of that would be explained when we actually checked in. We were not offered to go sit and wait in the concierge lounge (That was open until noon) or offered anything else which is normal for Marriott Platinum members. By 3 pm, we still had not received a call that our room was ready, but we returned to the hotel anyway. When we got to the front desk, after waiting in line again, we were told that our room had been ready for a while. They confirmed my telephone number, which was correct. The person checking us in was Ashleigh. She was very nice and very apologetic for the manner in which we were treated upon arrival. She gave us some certificates to use at the restaurant and did all she could to make our experience better. We made our way up to our room, it was a nice room with a decent view. My husband sat down on the bed and accidentally dropped his phone, when he reached down to retrieve his phone, he scratched his arm on something sticking out of the mattress. First of all, the sheets do not fit the beds, when he pulled the ripped mattress cover back, he found that a sharp spring was sticking out of the mattress. We called downstairs, Ashleigh came up and looked and moved us to room number 2702. It was just a few floors up from our original room. When we walked in the room, we noticed an awful smell, it was very musty and immediately, my husbands asthma kicked up. Once again, we went downstairs to talk to the manager, we waited in line again and spoke to the person at the front desk. They moved us to a suite, which was nice and had a much better view, which we were happy with. I am used to Renaissance hotels being top of the line with service, location and decor, this Renaissance failed horribly.

I am giving it two stars for the aesthetics only. The hotel is nice, and gym was great for a vacation workout, along with the free water and cold towels for after workout session. What I am appalled with is the daily breakfast charges that were added to my room folio without my consent or signature at a whopping $45.00 plus state and city taxes for each day of stay (3) and a room service charge for a burger and water at $22.32 that some other guest put to my room as room service delivery. Not only were we out every day seeing the sights and eating breakfast, lunch and dinner at all the fabulous restaurants in Dallas, no one in my room ordered this. I had to stay the morning of check out and wait at the counter while they investigated 4 additional charges added to my folio, and was late getting to the airport. Then I could not wait anymore so left and provided my cell and home phone for the gentleman to call me once they had the charges confirmed that I did not sign for these, and of course he never called and my credit card received the charge. I had to call them and request the charge be removed, and then they said the burger was delivered to my room....HUM... Lets see we ate everywhere but your hotel but because you dont request a signature on room service food delivery, I ordered and ate it....NOT! I let them know this was a make or break for me every staying at this hotel ever again. They did finally remove the charges but does not matter....they should always get a signature on a room service delivery. Really, you are playing with my credit card not yours. Be warned, they will ask if you want to try the breakfast for $15.00 per person and bill your the breakfast for everyday you stay even if you do not eat the breakfast. Also, this hotel was booked through my company website of which Fortune 500 company, I will be posting this to my company website to make sure none of the thousands of employees ever stay here. So disappointed in Marriott.
