My wife and I visited Mexican Sugar on Friday, Feb. 21st. This was my first visit and my wife has been there a couple times previously. Ill go through the whole experience from Valet to Valet. First, when we pulled up to the Valet they were quick to get to our car although they opened my door first instead of my wifes. I didnt like that. Ladies first in my opinion and I could have waited the extra 15 seconds for them to open my door. When we arrived at the reservation desk we were greeted with smiles and a hello. Staff was quick to take our names and notify us that our table would be ready in less than 5 minutes. Our reservation was at 6:45 and we arrived at 6:40. Considering this was a Saturday night and the place was very busy I was pleasantly surprised they were on time. Cant say that for too many rest. these days. After my phone went off to let me know our table was ready, they use the text method to notify, we were seated at a two person table right in the middle of the rest. next to a busy walkway. I felt like we were in a spotlight and our initial thoughts was this was not going to work. Before I was able to say anything our waiter, didnt catch his name, he quickly asked us if we would like a different table. I guess we were not the first couple to not like where the table was located. I found this to be very professional and courteous to our needs. He told us to hold tight a couple minutes. Shortly after, one of the managers, I believe his name was Bobbie, came to our table, introduced himself and told us he would find a better table for us ASAP. We were escorted to a private couch toward the back of the rest, Bobbie carrying our drinks, where we waited for about 5 minutes. At that time a table was ready and we were seated. Before I continue I must say Bobbie was one of the most courteous and accommodating managers I have ever dealt with. Kudos to him and his manners. Once seated we were greeted by a friendly waitress where the entire meal went without a hitch. The food was good, I wouldnt say great, because I thought the Barbacoa tacos were a bit dry. Other than that everything else was good. My wife had the hibiscus margarita and the cocoa bongo. She thought they were delicious. After dinner I went out to the valet where it took about 5 minutes for them to retrieve our car. My ratings on Mexican Sugar are: Setting = 4 Staff = 5 Food = 3.5 Drinks = 4 Overall I would give it 4 of 5 stars and would recommend this rest. to my family and friends.

Extremely disappointed. Been here for lunch a couple of times and liked it. So I made reservations for a party of 7 for my mother in laws 65th birthday. We had family in from out of town and called to make reservAtions for a table by the fireplace that over looked the fountains. We were told the only time they could accommodate that request was at 6:00 pm so we requested that time. However when we got there 10 minutes BEFORE our reservation, they told us they were sorry but they could not grant our request for a fireplace table. Reluctantly, we stayed anyway. However that was just the first of many disappointments. Here is a list of a few we experienced: -our food was not served at the same time -our order was screwed up - another tables order was given to us - I ordered one Diet Coke for my son yet the waitress continued to bring refills although I didnt request them. Then to make things worse our bill showed that she charged 2.25 x4 for the refills that we didnt request - we were told that we could substitute the sides that came with our discharge and then were surprised when our bill came and there was an undisclosed up charge for and additional 1.50 for each side substitution - we were given SOMEONE ELSES CREDIT CARD WITH OUR BILL!!!!!!! I cant imagine what would have happened if this happened to someone else that might not have been very honest -we had someone elses charges on our bill Needless to say what we had hoped would be a fun and celebratory evening with family celebrating a milestone occasion, we all left very annoyed and disappointed. We will not be coming back to this restaurant and will not recommend it to our friends or family.

Even though it is in danger of being a little too hip/cool. This place really checked all of the boxes and then some. I ended up here by sheer chance because someone else wanted to eat here. We went for lunch. I had tacos. The server was excellent. Professional and remarkably well put together, like she was going for a photo shoot later. She quickly surmised that I wanted to try things and let me know that mixing and matching tacos was A-OK. Points! I had the following: - Carnitas taco - Spicy Habanero Chicken taco - Carne Asada taco - Brussel sprout shred (my favorite) - Beverage - Mexican Coke (sadly, their fountain only serves Pepsi products) The food came out fast and tasted great. All three tacos were good, but I found the Spicy Habanero Chicken the most interesting, even if it was not as spicy as I had hoped. The Brussel sprout shred was good, but it was a tiny serving. I guess I should say that, overall, the lunch was pretty light. Not Im-gonna-starve light, but I-will-definitely-need-a-snack light. And maybe that is good, because i was starting to develop a gut.... :-D Anyway, you absolutely should give this place a shot. Fair warning, this is like the rest of the Shops at Legacy places, where the parking is not right at the restaurant, so give yourself time to park if you are meeting someone at a specific time.

My waiter was excellent. As this was my first time going to this location, I enjoyed his presentation in describing the menu options. Thank you for your time! However, what broke the experience for me was the owner/manager. I went up to him to in search my waiter so I could could use SamsungPay. He tells me "We dont have that". Thats fine, all locations tell me that because they dont realize Android Pay and Apple Pay require NEC while SamsungPay works virtually everywhere. After using my phone with success, the owner/manager proceeds to tell me that it is a security risk and that he is looking out for the customers. He says "I would need to see the physical card, how would I know if anyone could just take someone elses card and put it in there". Are you serious? He clearly doesnt understand the technology. I dont need to risk losing a card because I have it availible through my phone requiring authentication. His thought process: credit card is more safe. My through process: credit cards can be stolen. SamsungPay cannot be stolen, ensures the card is owned by myself, requires my fingerprint, and encrypts the transaction to prevent any recorded information. It protects identity by preventing virtual credit card theft. Hes clearly not looking out for his customers so I wont be back.

Went there this weekend to celebrate a friends birthday. The food was ok but the service was horrible. The waiter started being very attentive but when she realized we would not be consuming an exorbitant amount the service and attention changed. Some of us ordered tacos therefore when we ordered the food I asked for salsa, well the salsa never arrived even though I askef for it a second time. Also when my food arrived I needed something to drink and it took so long for my drink to arrive that when I got it I had already finished eating. The last thing that happened was that I went to complain and spoke to Jason which said he would make things right. To my surprise when I got back to my table all the bills for every party on the table had been delivered by our waitress without asking for them! Could the message be clearer (minorities leave now). By the way I observed the table next to us which was a smaller party of white older people that arrived after us and their table was served by the same waitress so well! Jason eventually sent another of the managers whom was real nice and gave us two slices of cake! I do not believe two pieces of cake compensate for the unprofessional way we were treated by our waitress.
