My wife, son and I had been thinking about going there but could never make up our minds. My wife can sometimes be a bit particular about what a restaurant has to offer. She decided to explore the U&I website (she’ll do this quite often to get an idea of wherever she is going). After going over menu we decided to go try it out. Get in the car!!! So she, my son and myself headed there for a Thursday, late evening (6:30 is late for us) dinner. When we arrived I was surprised at how wide open, yet cozy, it appeared. For a Thursday night, it was not crowed at all when we got there. Although it was hopping by the time we left. It took a couple minutes to be seated because the host was busy speaking to a server. Our waitress came to our table, literally, within a minute of our being seated. She took our drink order, and returned within a few minutes. This restaurant also has fresh baked bread and we got some. The bread was very good and it is unlimited. We ordered the U & I Sampler appetizer, it was good, and there was plenty! So much so, we had to take some home. That appetizer could have been a meal for some people. For diner, my wife got the 6 ounce Filet, my son got the Land & Sea (Steak&Lobster), and I opted for the 16 ounce Ribeye. Now, you have to understand, we don’t eat (well, my wife and I don’t) eat like this all the time. We went a little crazy... The food was fantastic! Of course my wife and I could not finish our meals, so we got the proverbial “doggie bag”. The check was very reasonable for all we ate! This is our Corpus Christi Downtown hot spot for steaks and seafood. The manager came by to make sure everything was okay and I expressed to her how wonderful our waitress Joanne was and how attentive she had been to our needs. When a waitress can continuously bring you a refill without your having to ask, shes doing her job in my book. I always make a point of speaking to the manager when we receive exceptional service. Because, many times, the only words they hear are complaints about their staff. The experience has left a very positive effect on our family. In fact, my son constantly bugs me about when we are going back there to eat. And I respond with, “Soon, son. Real soon”.

First off, It was a group of 7. I dont consider this is a large group. We waited about 20-30 minutes before being seated. Then when walking to the table I saw two other tables large enough to accommodate us. I let that go, no problem. But then the waiter ruined our dinner. First my friend and I ordered our sweet iced tea. He brings it and tell us "well one is sweet and other is not, yall will have to figure it out." When we told him we both wanted sweet tea, he told us to that there were sugar packets and just use that. Never in my life has a waiter or waitress told us that. Then while trying to set the appetizers down he rudely interrupted our conversation by saying "haha that was so funny" and set the food down. We were actually talking about something very serious and he completely made the table uncomfortable. A "simple excuse me here is your appetizers" would have been appropriate. The appetizers by the way were low grade frozen vegetable warmed up. Then while making our orders my daughter as for a side salad and he asked "dressing?" My daughter replied, "yes" and before she could finish her answer he blurted out..."yeah but what kind, you gotta tell me what kind, then laughed and said OMG nobody has ever answered that question with a yes before". I was very upset at this point. Then when he did bring the salad, they all had wrong dressings. I was so upset but still tried to keep positive. Then once food came they served us all at different times instead of at the same time. So when my 6 yr old got his kids meal, it was actually the adult version and the adult received the childrens version. The vegetables of the day where simple frozen mixed vegetable warmed up with no seasoning and still frozen at the bottom. The food tasted okay but portions were small. We left still hungry after having appetizers, salad and entree. The line to pay bill was also long and we were never offered dessert. I will never go back there. the waiter especially ruined the night. Still we left a tip even after the insults and crappy attitude.

We will never eat at this place ever again! I do not recommend it! I normally do not eat any sea food, only fried fish when in San Antonio, when I asked the waitress (Natalia) which fish would be the regular fried fish I could have she rolled her eyes at me and said " there many kinds" I had country fried steak, my son had the chicken strips and my husband had the steak... Needless to say none of our food had any spices, no taste what so ever! Natalia was such a bad waitress, instead of walking around the table to hand out our drinks and food, she leaned over and expected us to reach over and grab our plates from her, very inappropriate! Then to top it off I went to pay and the cashier over charged me by $11.79 and when I asked her why she also rolled her eyes and handed me the bill to review. I just walked out, very disappointed with the FOOD, and SERVICE. Pricey dishes and not worth it!!

What a wonderful surprise!!!!! All we wanted to do was escape the heat and burn an hour before the fireworks. As we sat and waited to get acknowledged and place drink orders 7minites i started reading reviews. And was getting worried with all the 1 stars at the top. Thats my one negative thing to say...... Salmon amazing!!!! Its funny how my daughter will eat really great salmon and pass on acceptable salmon. A 5 yearold with taste i suppose. Wife and i both loved it too. And the best part of the trip was Ramie!!!! As soon as he realized i was sucking down waters and teas like i soent the day at the beach and was sun burnt. He never let them run out. He chatted us up without invading our time and joked with the kiddos and listened to thier stories. What a pleasant surprise. We would swing through again if we come back this way and would suggest it to any other wanderers.

This restaurant is awful! Was visiting from London and was staying on the beach. We decided to give this place a go and by the first sight of the menu we realized it was something off of kitchen nightmares! (A restraunt always seem a bit off when they serve a load of different cultured cuisines i.e Mexican, itallion, etc..) My salad consisted of packet lettuce and a few shredded carrots! I then ordered the crab stuffed shrimp.. well lets just say the over powering smell of old fish put me right off (god knows how long they have been kept for) i had the side of the fully loaded jacket potato.. packet bacon bits and a bit of cheese was awful.. my whole family had the same problem with this! ... Also the rest of my family had each a problem with there meal... i will definitely be going to the oyster bar next time!!
