Eastern NC mom and pop diner, used to be called Andys after the owner. Growing up in eastern NC I ate here every Sunday. A few years ago they started chaining them and changed the name to hwy 55 not gonna lie I was nervous but nothing has changed still the same amazing place. Well fast forward a few years I join the army and I get stationed in Colorado springs. Another year later I find out theres a hwy 55 12 hours away and me and my wife go on a road trip. Shes instantly hooked and now she wants to literally move to North Carolina just to be near this place. I love this place and after sharing this story the very kind owners of hwy 55 gave me a gift card, a t shirt and a hand written appreciation card. I love you guys dont ever change what you do.

I walked in and went to the cashier desk. Spoke with a waitress who told me to seat myself. i went to wash my hands (no paper towels on the bathroom) then sat in a booth right by the door. I sat there for a good ten minutes. Both waitresses walked past me but neither one attempted to wait on me. I noticed that the only other table with minorities that were sitting when I arrived had disappeared without service. I waited a bit more then left. I dont think minorities are welcome at this establishment.

1950s look with good food. Fast service and friendly. Prices are reasonable and worth it. Clean and quiet (can talk to your spouse or friends without yelling). Oldies music playing. The teal and pink colors go good together and not overwhelming in color. I was not born in the 50s but this place looks great with old pictures and records on the walls. Try the place out, never know till you experience it. Im a customer not an employee. During my lunch ive overheard people here that are regulars.

Like walking into a time machine, HWY 55 gets high marks first and foremost for creating a diner that actually looks like it belongs in the 50s. A friendly staff, including the cooks, greet you the moment you enter and we had great service all around. The hamburgers were delicious, although just a tad smaller than expected. But given the fair prices, I wasnt disappointed. The thing this location lacked was a working jukebox that played vinyl. That would have made the experience complete.

Best burger place ever.. great sides, cheese curds, ice cream (frozen yogurt I think) makes their bacon perfect (for the burgers) Hand breads their online onion rings. Superior customer service. The other burger joints should make their cooks eat here a couple of times during their training. That would be better for the world. I dont understand why anyone would give this place less than 5 stars, and I am super picky.

Loved the food, the service was OUTSTANDING best i ever had in 18 years, actually took pride in what he was doing, Carlos our waiter and chef since we were the only one there on a weekday night made my experience beyond satisfying . Sad to say but it was my first time leaving a tip lol but i felt enjoyed with his positive attitude and discipline thanks carlos.

First time here and it was great. Service was good and the place wasnt busy. I got the BLT and it was awesome. The bacon was nice, thick, and crispy. The Texas toast was perfect. Fries and onion rings were on point, crispy and fresh. Loved the little car that my sons kids meal came in. My whole family loved it. We will definitely be back.

The service was horrible..the food was ok. Nothing spectacular...its took 38 minutes to get our shakes! We were done with out appetizers and dinner before our shakes arrived..we order waters..my sister went to the store and back before we received water from the staff..i will NEVER be back to hwy 55 again...a waste of $95!!

Shity service! We ordered over the phone, had the Taylor girl repeat the order for us and even called in twice to check on our order and when we got there they said they didnt receive our order?? And they didnt even apologize. It was our first time and we were pretty excited to try this new place. Doubt we will go back.

Very nice 50s style dinner very clean, well managed our server Lilly was the nicest person we have encountered in Texas. She was attentive but not overbearing and so friendly. The food was so good not greasy like fast food. Classic 50s like menu and custard was very tasty. We will be visiting again.

When Hwy 55 first opened there food was amazing! I havent been in a while. I think they may have new staff now. Its still a pretty good burger joint if your looking for a burger you can order exactly what your wanting on it.

Food was okay, service was not as good as it could have been. The server took my order, got my food, she didnt come back to see if I needed anything,had run out of tea, then I had to wave at her to get the check.

Wonderful burgers! They get the cheese melted just right and use fresh ingredients. Friendly staff, and interesting custard flavors. Ask what the flavor of the day is. Its usually a pleasant surprise.

Liked the 50s theme and music. Service friendly, burgers and fries were served VERY fresh and hot. My kids loved their float and shake, respectively. Definitely worth it.
