Im an omnivore, but my son and daughter-in-law are exploring the vegan lifestyle, and so I went with them to be supportive. My mind is always open to new kinds of foods. We started with the vegan nachos, and when they came, wow, was I surprised! It was a plate of chips piled with lovely toppings, like cheese sauce, beans, guacamole, toppings (made with quinoa, maybe?) and even a sour-cream-ish sauce. Even better? When we dug into those and realized we werent missing ANYTHING without the meat products! Nope, it didnt taste exactly like meat nachos, but it had a lovely taste of its own! My son and I ordered burgers. They came on huge sesame seed buns, his loaded with jalapenos and some pretend bacon which again, wasnt bacon, but it did have a pleasing, hearty flavor and texture. Mine was also very delicious and I didnt feel at all deprived after having no meat or cheese. The potato salad was also quite good. It looked a little bit green, but tasted like...potato salad! I tasted one of my daughter-in-laws meatballs (from her spaghetti and meatballs) and it, too, was delicious! Best of all, for dessert, we had a turtle brownie sundae, and THAT, my friends, was scrumptious. The ice cream might have been just a tad more icy than real ice cream, but it had a sweet, rich flavor and the Brownie was absolutely one of the best brownies Ive ever tasted! I also enjoyed the decor, which was bright and welcoming, and the wait staff, who all helped each other, were knowledgeable without being intrusive, were in a good mood, and genuinely seemed to enjoy working there. The diner was over half full on a Thursday at 2 pm, which speaks for itself. The people there were talking and laughing together and SEEMED like normal people. Maybe, vegans are losing their image as fanatics that cannot be taken seriously?? Before we left, I picked up a box of goodies including one of those brownies, a cranberry oatmeal cookie, a lemon poppyseed mini-bundt, and a "Mexican Hot Chocolate cookie". They also had a selection of vegan products in the lobby for purchase, such as Nutritional Yeast, vegan cheeses, and vegan jerky. This was a truly unique AND delicious place to go, and I cant believe it took me so long to try it. I will DEFINITELY be returning!!

We walked into spirals with high hopes. Every person we know that has come here told us that we were about to step into another level of vegan/vegetarian food. As soon as you walk into the door there is a warm and (although slightly frantic) welcoming environment. The atmosphere flowed all around the small restaurant. The walls are painted with bright colors and paintings cover the walls. The place itself is quite small so I can see others expecting a long wait time on Fridays and Saturdays. We were greeted by a kind hostess and a charismatic server. We started out our meal with the appetizer nachos which had my stomach rumbling within 10 minutes, my girlfriend was displeased and waited for her entree meal to come out. The milkshakes were both delicious and unlike many others, I could not taste any of the supplements used, if you come here, I would definitely recommend them. The food was subpar and very tasteless in contrast to the milkshakes. The hash-browns, sausage and eggs were all lacking in flavor, making it out to feel like mush in my mouth. Sure, the service is great and the atmosphere is fantastic but if you come to spirals I would recommend you visit it as a bakery and not a full serving restaurant.

We went as a family. Its such a friendly atmosphere with all the nice touches in decorating that you would expect in a downtown vegan restaurant while also being family friendly. Wonderful! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because other than smoothies, there is only ONE raw vegan selection. You guessed it. Its a salad. I must say it was a wonderfully delicious salad. However, to be raw vegan friendly, I would love to see spiral diner do the following 3 things in the future. 1. Have more raw selections such a spiralized pasta dishes, pad Thai, or even raw vegan sushi rolls. 2. Have more variety in their smoothies and perhaps offer green juices/smoothies. 3. Offer a larger portion option on the menu. Raw vegans eat A LOT to get their calories in. I honestly needed a salad 3 times that size. Otherwise, the place and selection of cooked food is amazing. Both my kids were super excited about their diners. They are new to vegan food and very picky eaters, so Im SUPER excited about that! We will be coming back many times!

Vegan food will knock your socks off. What do Hamburgers, BBQ, and Philly Steak Sandwiches all have in common (at the Spiral Diner?) Theyre all meat and dairy free; and ohhhh so delicious. Good beers, non coke colas. Tasty classics like potato salad and pasta salad. I eat here a lot. Guess what? Vegan brownies; ice cream; cookies; red velvet cake... Its non stop culinary awesome for health conscious eaters. This is the original restaurant. The second location being in Oak Cliff/Bishop Arts District. True story: I once read a non-english magazine on an international flight, far away from the USA that featured article talking about this Spiral Diner, in my hometown, as being the best Vegan/Vegetarian restaurant in North America, and top 10 in the world. So, if you arent vegan, and you arent a health conscious eater, should you try Spiral Diner? Absolutely! Youll be able to say youve once broke bread at one of the worlds foremost meat and dairy free culinary institutions.

Spiral Diner is our favorite restaurant. Hands down! It is the most delicious vegan food weve ever had. They have won many awards, including national awards. We take our non-veggie friends & they love it. Weve even had large birthday parties here & it always is delightful. The staff is amazing. It seems as if a person goes to work at Spiral Diner, they stay, because I think mostly the same people have worked there for the last 6 years since we have been frequenting! You know a restaurant is delish when people drive 60 miles to go eat there....thats what we do! They have an extensive menu with something for everyone. They have a large selection of beer & wine & also mouth watering desserts. If you are even remotely curious, give Spiral Diner a try. Our favorite dishes are the Mitch Club Sandwich & the Nachos....they are better than any nachos weve ever had!

Overall SUB PAR service, great food and warm environment. I only come back for the food because its one of the few entirely vegan options I can dine at. If vegan restuarants were the norm, I would never come back because of the service. I felt that others were serviced more promptly than us. We were ignored, It took forever to put in an order and to get the food. Once we had our food, a woman with a pierced face just rudely tossed the food on the table, no eye contact and walked away. She even had a smug look on her face. I felt very uncomfortable. The only person that was nice was our server (a red head bearded man with glasses) I didnt get his name. Nice man but overall service was not very personable. Spiral diner needs to work on their service. You have a very unconfident and awkward staff.
