This morning, my Fiance and I decided to dine out for breakfast. It was 11am New Years day so our choices were limited. Since the Russian cafe next door was closed, we decided to try Rise and Shine. Upon arriving, we were greeted and told to sit where we like. I found a booth and sat beside my soon to be wife, like always. A woman came to take our drink order and gave us menus, before long a different server came to take our food order. I put my arm around my lady and gave her a kiss on her forehead. We are an interracial couple in our late 20s and are fairly seasoned Foodies. I was raised in Chicago and she is from the south. She has worked at The Mansion, Craft Dallas, and The French Room. We have traveled in and out of the U.S. and ate at many places along the way but I always love the "back home" feel I get when at a greasy spoon such as this. The size of the menu was impressive and from what I saw at surrounding tables, the portions were large. While waiting, we noticed the first server glaring at us and speaking with her coworkers. Shortly after, a THIRD waitress came to us and said, "there is a problem", I figured that the kitchen was out of an item on the menu. When I asked what the issue was, she informed us that "our conduct was inappropriate" and if I could sit across from my Fiance. We looked at each other and figured it was a joke. She then told us that one of the waitresses had made a complaint and she felt uncomfortable because there was a child present. My Fiance and I work in the service industry and would NEVER think of interrupting a couple over a kiss on the forehead. I could understand if there was excessive kissing and groping but even then we are told to be tactful. She went on to explain to us that "young love" is not something that should be expressed in public, as if we were children. I was at a loss for words..... Our server returned with our food only seconds after the third waitress had left. We informed her that it was time for us to leave. She played dumb at first but soon achnowledged what had happened. She told us that we had to pay first (we never touched our food) but I refused. She walked us to the front register, informed the young lady at the counter and walked away. We tactfully voiced our frustrations to cashier and took our leave. I have dined at restaurants within the states and around the world and have never been treated like this. My Fiance and I do not celebrate New Years and were just enjoying a day off with each other. We had not been drinking the night before, we were not being over affectionate, and we were polite. It is just a shame the some are stuck in a different era. I am sorry that I do not have a review to post for the food. My rating was based on the service, my embarrassment, and the lack of respect.

I live right off of fielder and was told to try out this place. Well me and my wife were fairly disappointed with this place. We arrived at the place at 10:45am and placed our orders around 10:55am. The place was kind of pack, however we didnt think anything of it. A couple of other groups were set around us, and placed orders after us. 11:30am rolled around and we still had not received our food. The waitress came over and apologized that the order was taking so long. I asked her how long does it take to cook some pancakes and bacon. She said we only have three cooks and they are working as hard as they can. 11:45am rolls around and all of the white people sitting around us had their food, and we still did not. Me and my wife got up and just left. Ive never been to a place where I was treated this bad before. I hardly ever write reviews however, I had such a BAD experience and was treated improperly because I was African American that I just had to write one.

I want to like this place. There are not many good non franchise breakfast places. The place was dirty. The windows and blinds and walls had a heavy coat of dust. Every nook and cranny needed cleaning. It appeared the place is on its last legs. The wait staff were struggling to keep up and there were only 3 of them and the place was packed. For the most part the patrons looked like they were retired, some were managers or contractors. People obviously not on a schedule that is tight. My food arrived after an hour of waiting. I guess that is the norm for them as I read through other reviews. It took even longer to pay to leave the place. The food was nothing special nor was it bad. I was hoping for a clean place to eat with service. This simply is not the case here.

I think it is crazy that people would go to IHOP when there is a restaurant like this around. I have been here dozens of times and the food is consistently great, and at an excellent price. They treat both new customers and regulars well, and when you go there often and tip well they start serving you faster. I went in by myself one morning and timed them- I was able to walk in, order, eat a huge meal and pay in 11 minutes. Where else can you do that? I cant say a single bad thing about the place. The omelettes, hashbrowns, biscuits and coffee are my favorites. If you havent been you need to go to Rise and Shine.

Friendly service...vomitous food. Rise and Shine looks like a down home, country kitchen, but its not. Our server was fantastic and knowledgeable about the menu. However, she neglected to tell us how bad everything was. We placed our order, and 5 minutes later.. (points for prompt service, I guess?) ...we were served an undercooked, wobbly omelette full of egg white snot, and a quesadilla that tasted like burnt beans and Palmolive . Kudos on the industrial sized bottles of Tabasco. Keep driving folks. Theres a McDonalds up the street.

This place is the classic hole in the wall....very authentic....my mother and I are African Americans and have never experienced ANY type of racism. The chicken fried steak is AMAZING and the fact you can get anything in your omlette is so cool!!! The staff is friendly and very nice....they guy in the back cooking is always smiling...and the lady owner is so nice--very lovely people working hard to make a living. I passed out thier business cards....thats how good it is...

My boyfriend ordered an omelette and I ordered one of their mixed breakfast skillets. The food took FOREVER for us to get. Although our waitress was polite and apologetic, this place is clearly understaffed. When we finally received our food, it was not even that great. Not horrible, but not great. Just okay. If you want a better breakfast for a better price and faster service, just go to IHOP. The one by the Parks Mall is usually really fast, even on Saturday mornings.

Ordered a $45 meal off of door dash and expected food to be at my door within a little over an hour, after waiting for over an hour I get a call saying that the order has to be placed in person and it will take another hour or so to even be finished. Nowhere on the page does it say anything about a pre order or in person! I was hoping for a good experience but I didnt get a chance too!
