They made me cry! My 5 year old really wanted noodles, so I thought I would give this place a shot. I walked in with my 5 year old and 2 year old and was greeted by a very nice lady. She asked me if I wanted it "to go" or "dining in". I chose "to go" because the kids might break a plate, so I thought I was being smart by ordering "to go". We had to wait 20 minutes for our dish, and we finally just plopped down at a table for three, because we were a party of three and sipped our waters and waited patiently for our noodles to be done. They were finally ready and my kids were starving. After I divided the dish into thirds, the owner/chef walked up to me and told me I could not sit there because I only ordered one dish and we were taking up 3 seats. I was in disbelief. Come on, I am a mom with two little kids and I PAID for my food (the kids werent even making a fuss!). He then proceeded to tell me that I needed to sit in one chair or go outside. I couldnt even respond. I was speechless. SO I got up and packed up my kids who were so upset that they had to stop eating and walked up to the man and told him that that wasnt nice and that he was being unprofessional and that I was a customer who PAID for his food. The "nice" lady who helped me in the beginning had the nerve to tell me that I had ordered "to go" so I shouldnt be eating inside. Then told me that their place is so small that only paying customers should take up seats. I guess my kids were viewed as nonpaying customers! Wow! I was so mad and so hurt. I left. I phoned my husband to tell him the news that I was asked to leave the restaurant even though I paid for food. My husband came right away (he works close) and went in and pretty much yelled at them for treating a wife and kids like that. They didnt apologize. There were no regrets on their part. So, here I am writing a review to inform you all of the kind of philosophy these people go by. . .money money money and no compassion whatsoever nor customer service. The noodles were all right. Nothing great.

This is a family business and its owners do their best, but cannot be as friendly as in other businesses. They simply don’t have a direct boss. I wasn’t going to recommend them despite that I love their food and prices because of this limitation, but after find the previous review by Ms. Vanessa I thought I should do it. This is the place that has offered me the best tasting, most diverse and filling Japanese food for a reasonable price, quite unlike most Japanese food places which normally serve very small portions at quite high prices. If you’re very hungry try the curry. These advantages come at the cost of not having real Japanese food, which is not too good. You don’t find Jap restaurants as often as Chinese ones for nothing. Regarding Vanessa’s complains, again, this is family, small business, the ones we all must support because they’re the real support of middle class. Now, being a small business the place is small indeed. It doesn’t have plenty of tables like any chain. Their tables are also very small. Women and children have been placed in the highest status in our society and therefore are used to having their way, her husband reacted in a very typical American way of paying immediate obedience to his wife. I’m glad this business didn’t defer to them because of arbitrary statuses. She well said that her order was to go and the owners cannot read her mind and know in advance her elaborate plans to split that food and else. They should’ve told her that their food is not fast one like in McDonald’s or anywhere else, yeah, wrong of them. And again, small business don’t have the knowledge to deal with different situations, all the time. This may look obvious to you, but it wouldn’t if you were actually there. I myself know all of this mostly because my parents are also small busniness owners and I worked with them in my teenhood.

My wife is from Taiwan, and doesnt care much for most western food. Unfortunately, being that Austin is pretty far from Asia, and is not one of the bigger American cities with their large asian communities, there are not a huge amount of restaurants that she really likes. For example, Americanized Chinese food tends to be greasy and salty, and is totally different from real chinese food. This place doesnt disappoint. It is in her top 3 regular go-to restaurants in Austin (its also the closest to our home of those 3). She always orders the Seafood Udon. I always order the beef bento. We ask for extra sweet potato tempura for a couple extra bucks (this is not on the menu). Note that this place is just a husband and wife team. I have never seen any other employees, so they are limited on how much service they can provide. However, the quality of their food is high (it always tastes fresh and delicious), and I feel it is healthy too (does not have the greasy or salty problems). Being that its always the same two people cooking the food, that explains the consistent quality. The beef bento includes lean beef with house made teriyaki sauce, perfect rice, california rolls, a small variety of tempura, and a salad. I dont remember everything in the seafood udon, but my wife likes the clams in particular, and the broth (not too strong or salty). For reference, our other two restaurants favorite Austin restaurants are: Pho Saigon (in the Lamar Chinatown Center) and Din Ho.

most authentic Japanese sushi place in all of Austin. Ive been to many of sushi places in town and though some have great food (uchiko) none felt as authentic. moment walked by the front door i felt transported to Japan. the place is run by what seems to be a husband and wife team (both Japanese). Who where very nice and seemed to genuinely care (benefit of dealing with an owner operator type business) Place is small and cozy, like you would find in densely populated Japan, makes sense why they got upset at the 1 star review lady with the two little kids especially if she was there during a busy hour. plus its her claim that her kids where well behaved and her side of story only. I came here to use Amex card for small business Saturday and so happy that i did the food was delicious, i ordered a Hawaiian roll (the Tuna was so fresh) and a crazy fish roll. i will be back for lunches and dates. couldnt think of a more intimate place to being a date with such reasonable pricing for quality food. first sushi restuarant been to outside of NYC or L.A. that i really felt was authentically Japanese. highly recommend and Ill be back.

Drunk fish, you might expect to get a drink here, but youll be dissapointed. As the name implies... go there drunk, but dont expect to get a drink. The sushi is good, but we also tried the tonkatsu ramen, beef yakisoba, and bulgogi bento. Aside from the sushi, our meal was awful. Ive made better ramen at home using instant ramen. The meat for the bento and yakisoba are precooked beef and then recooked until dry and just plain awful. The seasoning was, ok. Wouldve been a good meal without the overcooked beef. The ramen tonkatsu pork was a very thin pork cutlet, breaded, and fried until dry and unpleasant. It was served on the side, probably because the breading wouldve turned to mush in the broth. Go for the sushi. Decent prices on sushi. I could fill up on their sushi and be happy about it. Avoid the dishes with cooked meats. Go home and cook your own instant ramen, it will taste better.
