Deliciously authentic Japanese food seemingly adapted to American tastes only by increasing the amount of food in the bento box. I had the three-skewer bento box, and the size--double my expectations--surprised me. I tried to make my skewers as authentic as possible and went with chicken hearts, pork belly, and Surfside clams, but there are tamer options available. All this was preceded by a bowl of miso soup that tasted more like miso than any Ive had before. As a die-hard squid fan, I had to try the calamari appetizer, and as all squid fans know, there are squid that look like polite little onion rings, then there are squid that look, taste, and chew like real squid, and Hanabis belong to the latter class. The bento box had a salad in one corner, and some sliced sushi rolls next door. The skewers lay suspended over a bed of sticky rice. And there was a dessert compartment in this sprawling bento box, and, strangely enough, there was a Chinese corner with a delicious egg roll and wonton--maybe its a nod to Americans who havent yet discerned the vast diversity in Asian food. My waiter was kindly attentive and kept my iced tea glass full on a hot day.

I had the dipping ramen - the pork chashu was very gristly and the dipping broth was like gravy instead of a sauce. I wasnt impressed.. My friend had the Bulgogi Don. The bulgogi was very bland and she had to add soy sauce to her dish in order to make it taste good enough to eat. Hanabi recently split its menu and now has ramen at this location and sushi at the other location. They moved all of their sushi chefs to the other location, so this location only serves ramen and kushiyaki - basically different types of meats and vegetables on skewers, kind of like kababs.

Went here accidentally thinking it was a sushi bar. Super glad I made this supposedly common mistake. My girlfriend had the chicken teriyaki and I had one of the ramen bowls with pork stomach(bacon). The atmosphere is really nice, the service was excellent and the food was delicious. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys Asian cuisine

Service is friendly, food comes out quick, and is DELICIOUS. I was ecstatic to find what I am pretty sure are the best bento in town. Ginger dressing for the salad was great, and the don katsu is excellent. The ramen is better than Tatsuya, and that is coming from a fan of theirs. Eat up!

Very disappointing, after reading all the reviews (4 stars!) I really expected food to be at least decent. Food is really bad, greasy, bad flavors and lots of sugar everywhere. Big waste of money. The only good thing I can say about this place is that the staff was very friendly.

Hanabi has now split itself into two locations. All the sushis are now in the newly opened Gateway location while this location now specializes in ramen and bento boxes. Come here for the bento boxes and not the ramen. There are so many better ramen places in Austin.

They have a nice variety of bentos and appetizers which are very tasty. My favorite bento is the Kushiyaki and you can select 2 to 3 different types of meat, fish, chicken, ect. The service is great and I like the friendly staff.

Ive eaten here twice, food is pretty awesome! Not to mention they have the coolest, happiest server on the planet. She served us both times, and gave me hot green tea on the house because I wasnt feeling very well. Shes a rock star.

Had the Unaju (Unagi) Bento box. I lived in Tokyo and know what Unagi tastes like. It is one of my favorites but Hanabis version was total mush and disgusting. Another example why I seldom order Japanese food in Austin.

Had the veggie ramen, which could use a bit more flavor. The pregnant wife had the bulgolgi don and found it to be delicious. The waitress was very accommodating as we asked for the egg in the don to be fully cooked.

Decent food at an affordable price. Every customer was greeted and service was constant and considerate. Theres an odd blend of Japanese and Korean on the menu, but its nothing that detracts from the meal.

The bulgogi ramen is definitely worth coming back for. I really wnjoyed the ambiance and the ability to choose between Korean or Japanese food. I doubt you can go wrong with anything on their menu.

Used to come here for the sushi happy hour but they only serve sushi at the other location now. Tried the bento box and loved it. Friend tried the ramen and it was good but not the best.

This location no longer has Sushi, still good options but it looks like I will only be going to the other location from now on.

Good comfort food for reasonable price. Definitely worth a visit. No wait on a Friday night. Good variety of ramen.

Im rating for the 5% discount, before I even order. Ramen is $9-$12 & soup $13 Most likely not worth it.
