Very poor experience. First and foremost, I requested wifi password and was told by one of the servers that she doesnt have it. I requested her again to get it from the owners/managers--there were two of them. She gave me an uninviting and a very bothered look. She reluctantly then goes to one of her supervisors; all this is happening right in front of my eyes. The place is not that big and their bar and work station is right in plain view. Then comes this manager guy and blatantly lies to me by saying that "we are having wifi issues with ATT and we are on the phone with them and as soon as it is resolved, I will bring you the password." Nobody was on the phone; they were in fact taking orders for take outs on the phone. He didnt realize that his lie was gonna get caught. They were conducting all their business on what looked like a tablet. They were also swiping credit cards on the same tablet. Needless to say he never came back with the password. SMH...in this day and age why would you lie to your customer over a mere wifi access? And then we come to the food....I went to this place based on well over 4 star reviews on Google. I didnt check Four Square or Yelp, but that is where this review is going next now. I am of the Indian origin--Punjabi to be exact. I have eaten Indian food all over the world and grew up in that cuisine because my family owned multiple restaurants back home. I know the Punjabi cuisine, food, flair...whatever you want to term it, really really well. Not only do I know the cuisine, the culture, the nuances, the traditions and legacy, but I also know how to cook really well. The food was sub-standard least to say; I ordered Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala, which the menu said was a "special Chef recipe. In both the dishes the chicken was not fresh; it was at least a day or two old. The Tandoori Chicken was not the North Indian, Punjabi oven cooked chicken, it was a very low quality concoction. Similarly, the chicken tikka was simply chunks was boiled breast pieces in a low-quality mild tasting sauce. It was extremely disappointing particularly because the ratings were over 4 stars on Google. I would not rate this place more than 1 star for food and ZERO stars for service. But the rice was up to par and I will give them that. Advise to the owners: Dont say NO to a customer when you are asked for the wifi password. If you dont want to share that then write explicitly somewhere in the restaurant that your facility is wifi free and you dont provide it complimentarily. Also, buy fresh chicken and ingredients and see how the basic quality of your food will go up.

I went here last night with a white American friend who wanted to eat Indian food with an Indian. Ive been to this restaurant twice before, but that was six years ago and again a couple years ago. It is possible the management has changed. The customer service makes you feel like you are back in India. The kingfisher beer is good. The rice served with our dishes was good. We ordered chicken tikka appetizer, mixed grill, mutter paneer masala, and baingan bharta. Baingan bharta was good, but I dont think any restaurant knows how to prepare it with less oil as we do at home. Also too much artificial color in everything. The mutter paneer was also too red, tasted unusually sweet. The mixed grill came in. There was some meat that was too gamey, the tandoori chicken was merely baked red colored chicken. The menu correctly described that the marinade of both chicken tikka and tandoori chicken requires yogurt. There was no yogurt to be tasted anywhere. All entrées come with a side, but the manager first insisted that we were wrong, then she corrected her self to say sides are separate orders. They agreed to cancel the chicken tikka and mixed grill, but the waitress insisted we had eaten both dishes already. Finally she took it away. An assistant chef I believe then tried to rescue by bringing us a new plate of chicken tikka and insisted that this is how it is made in India. I must be an idiot for not knowing better and eating some fake chicken tikka and tandoori chicken for years in India. When the cheque came we were charged for the canceled orders. Upon further request there was a repeat argument that wed eaten the food. Finally, the tandoori rotis were under cooked and sweet. This place probably does not have a tandoor or a brick oven. It is true to get truly good food eat where the natives of that cuisine eat. No other Indians were eating at this restaurant. The restaurant Tandoor on Fielder and Randol mill is much better and mostly Indians and Americans who know Indian food eat there. The excuse provided by India grill was Americans cant eat spicy food. Indian food can be flavorful and not burn you through. This restaurant is an epic fail. (Im not a spokesman for Tandoor restaurant on Fielder. I eat there sometimes, but wanted to take my friend to a nicer place with better ambience and so I went to India grill)

My husband and I have a slight *HUGE* obsession with Indian food, and since his work has us traveling all over the country we always make it a point to try out any and all Indian restaurants we come across; this is probably one of the best ones weve ever visited! The food was to die for!!!!! Ive seen some other reviews that stated it was a little bit Americanized, Ive never been to India but my husband lived in India for two years and he said that the food was actually pretty accurate! Either way I didnt care, it was delicious!!!!! I got the Jalfrezi and my husband got the Butter masala with extra spice, both were so tasty! The naan and rice were also sooo good! The staff was so polite and so accommodating. At our first visit to the buffett we brought our toddler who began acting up, I was so appreciative of our host and waitress who were so kind towards him and made it a point to give him the little extra attention he was desiring. On our second visit just a week later we went for dinner, they could tell I was a little bit cold but I didnt say anything about it (Im always cold), but they were so observant and asked if they could adjust the thermostat for me. Its the little things that make the difference, and I loved that the staff went out of their way to make those little efforts! We will definitely be returning to the restaurant when we are in the DFW area again!

India Grill is a small, family owned restaurant in Arlington off 20 (we know this because we talked at length with the chef). Prior to trying India Grill, or go-to was Mugali on the north side of Dallas (also amazing food, but very expensive). India Grill is always a very pleasant atmosphere, and the staff is always super attentive. The true test of a good Indian restaurant for me is if they can make it "light you up" spicy, without covering up the complex masalas. If I can taste the coriander, anise, cardamom, and a little asafoetida, but still sweat at the temples, they have done it well. BUT you MUST order off the menu. The buffet is decent if you are hungry and need something cost effective, but the true food if ordered off the menu. We eat here enough to know that some nights arent as good as others, but a solid 90% of the time, the food is perfect. For Americans wanting to venture outside of Chicken Tikka Masala (although you definitely want to try this chefs at least once), I would suggest any of their Biryanis (Muglai Biryani with Lamb is the best), Channa Masala, or Chicken Kadai or Jalfrezi. Their Chai tea is also amazing. I will admit, the buffet is a little bland, and you can find better in DFW. But that the buffet game...you cant please everyone with the same exact dish. But you wont be disappointed if you order off the menu.
