I had planned to meet up with an old friend for lunch in the Allen area recently, so I googled nearby restaurants and found this place online. I liked the reviews and that it appeared to be a local mom & pop style cafe. It had quite a few cars in the lot when we arrived and that was a good sign, so we decided to give it a try. The hostess and wait staff were not overly friendly, but I figured they were probably just busy. It seemed a little strange that they all spoke Ukrainian (or similar foreign language), especially at a small town cafe in Texas. My friend ordered the chicken-fried chicken with mash potatoes and okra, but was served the wrong order and mentioned it to the waitress. She just sighed and took it away to go correct it without so much an apology to him or comment whatsoever. I made the mistake of ordering the beef enchiladas, which I figured any cafe in Texas couldnt screw up too bad. but I was definitely wrong, and wished I had not ordered them. They were served room temp with small bits of beef and onion and what tasted like bell pepper (wrong type pepper for enchiladas) rolled up inside flour tortillas (enchiladas should be rolled in corn tortillas as a Tex-Mex standard). And whereas they should have been smothered in a brothy chili con-carne sauce, the enchilada sauce was awful, and tasted like something out of a can. The cheddar cheese over it all was thick and stiff, and it was served with dry, refried beans and spicy, spanish rice that I just couldnt eat. Locals may love this place for the breakfast and burgers, but I would definitely stay away from the enchiladas and not get your expectations of customer service too high. I can only give them 2 stars overall.

I live in Plano and am always on the look out for a good breakfast spot. I took my Mom and my Hubby here. I liked how clean it was, friendly it was, fast the service was. I also very much liked my french toast. The coffee also tasted GREAT for a family diner. Sometimes its so acidic and bitter at these Mom and Pop places. Dont expect it to be way strong like Starbucks, but it was very good.*********MY HUBBY ORDERED a skillet thing with potatoes, bacon and eggs on top. He liked his food too. Mom got eggs overeasy and potatoes and had no complaints.******** I will say I absolutely HATED the biscuits. VERY DISSAPOINTED IN THE BISCUITS. The tasted too bready and like they had been microwaved which caused them to be kind of rubbery. MY QUESTION: Do you honestly think we cant tell you microwaved them and/or they are not fresh? The best place for biscuits is CHUBBYS on Parker and Alma in Plano. Anywho, Id go here again.

Easily the best local breakfast option in Allen. Intensely popular with the locals, this hidden gem is a well kept secret in the old Allen central square. If youre looking for it, its tucked away behind the nearby church and a self-serve carwash. The breakfast here is the best. The food always comes out quickly, coffee is always fresh, and service is always with a smile. I personally recommend the Texas Breakfast or any of their omelets. The best time to come is early morning during the week when they arent busy, but the popular time is Sunday morning when the locals are all piling in to get breakfast before and after church. I cant say enough about this place, but, if you havent already, take your family and friends to try the best Allen has to offer.

Been comming here for 20 years. Always a favorite for breakfast on a budget. If you leave this place still hungry, than you have some major issues, the amount of food you get for the amount of money you pay is perfect. Normally I leave this place with two days worth of leftovers, after only paying about 8 bucks at the most. I love their breakfast burritos, their steak and eggs are to die for too. The clientel is normally elderly people, which kind of gives you that small town feel that allen used to have before all of the shopping malls and event centers ruined it. Always suggest allen cafe before I would ihop or dennys.

I go to Allen Cafe 1-2 days/week. They are my favorite go-to place for breakfast and lunch. I love their breakfast and their lunch plates are great also. The food isnt fancy, just hot, fast diner food. Staff has always been great and give excellent service. Waffles and pancakes are well made, and beat the pants off Starwood Cafe and other places that try to be great diner food. This place is family owned and operated and delivers on good hearty grub!

This review is based solely on the food. The food here is the closest thing to average I can think of. They might even use this place to calibrate... Its usually hard to go wrong with biscuits and gravy, yet somehow the biscuits and gravy was the most "bland" biscuits and gravy Ive ever seen or tasted. The staff was fine and nice, the wait even during a very busy time was fine, and the prices are fair but I dont know why it has such a high rating...

The food was really greasy. We also had cardboard in our food. When we mentioned it to our waitress she was apologetic and said she would take care of it. The lady at the register only discounted it by 30 percent. We were not looking for a free meal but when you find stuff in your food they should at least offer to re cook it or comp the plate it was found in. We will not be going back.

Small "hole in the wall", family owned, amazing service & staff. The food is delicious and prices are reasonable. Order one of the skillets and you wont regret it!! I love coming here a lot and almost feels like home. Ive been eating here for 10 years now. This is by far the best place to enjoy a yummy breakfast & luch, becoming one of locals favorite.

Great waitstaff, weve gotten to know a few waitresses over the years and their just part of the family now. Whn we sit down we all catch up on family stories on each other. Great family atmosphere. Food is fantastic, best pancakes in the area for sure! Food is very reasonably priced.

This family-owned restaurant is a fixture in Allen. Good home cooking with a family-friendly atmosphere. Unlike many restaurants, they dont have ambient music, so folks can actually have normal conversations. Excellent breakfasts- I recommend the cinnamon french toast!

The atmosphere was great and the staff was incredibly nice. I ordered a simple breakfast with gyro meat...wow! The coffee was very fresh and the breakfast was very memorable. Cant wait to return and try something different. Im sure it will be just as great : )

This is a true old time cafe feel. The staff knows the regulars and treats the new comers as friends. Food is very good and the environment is fun to watch. I now come here once a week. Check it out, and you will not be disappointed!

Im almost reluctant to review this place c it is such a find. The Allen Cafe is cozy, friendly, and the French toast is the best Ive ever had. Anywhere. I love that its a little out of the way and not part of a monster franchise.
