In 2009, I used to go here almost every day. Drive-through normally. It used to be great. I used to take a sip of beverage and go "mmmmm-yummy". Not now. Theyll be weak, or cold, or missing something I asked for. Should you have to ask for extra hot to get hot coffee? So now I check back once a week or so to see if theyve gotten it together. Its close to my house. I can always hope, right? They havent. Today, in the drive-through, the person in front of me was asked to wait before placing an order. The staff didnt realize there were 4 of us behind her. None of us were asked if *we* minded the wait. When I finally ordered and arrived at the window, they had clearly gotten orders out of order because they asked me if I was the chai something-or-other. I had ordered a double espresso. When I got it, it was cold. On top of that, the staff was unfriendly. Sure, I said something about the order mixup and the wait, but it is sophomoric and un-business-like to duck out of the window and hide until the customer leaves. Im about done with this place. They truly used to get all of my coffee dollars, 5-6 days a week. Bet Im not the only one who has left them.

One of the few coffee shops open late in Dallas. Part of a small local chain. Large single room, with a second level looking down on first. Open celing with nice wood beams, fans, and ducts. 15ish tables plus a bar looking down from second level. Plenty of power outlets. However, Im docking them a full star for the very loud, very bad live music duo that was torturing Nirvana the Tuesday evening in June I was there. The place was perhaps a quarter full, with everyone else presumably have been driven off. A great example of why you should never ever have your coffee shop host an open mike night. A modest selection of loose leaf teas. Chai was from powder, so I didnt try it. Modest selection of not terribly exciting pastries. I had a mediocre bread pudding. There was a small selection of package sandwiches and such.

When my husband and I were looking for somewhere to live, I knew it had to be in proximity of a great coffee shop. It didnt take me long to find the lake highlands area, and we have fallen in love with it--the quiet family neighborhoods, the abundant grocery stores, the proximity to the lake, and of course the accessibility to the highways. But still...one of my favorite things to do is to sneak by White Rock Coffee and get a medium iced almond latte with skim milk. In fact, Im so excited to get one, Ill be stopping there in the morning. Its like a cup of smiles to help me get through my day. :) I love it so much there, my husband even bought me a rechargeable gift card to use...depleting rapidly. (I Need a refill over here, honey!) See you at the WRC!
