In the past Ive visited La Siesta Mexican Restaurant on numerous occasions. The food has been typically Mexican with good salsa and crisp chips, something not always found in a basic Mexican restaurant. Tonight I took two good friends who were visiting from out of town. Yes, the place was slightly more crowded than normal but it was after 7:30 when we arrived. We were promptly seated against the far wall and the chips and salsa arrived within a normal amount of time. Eventually the waiter arrived and took our drink orders. He brought the water within a normal amount of time but it took nearly fifteen minutes for the one margarita to arrive. I ordered "on the rocks with no salt." When it arrived it was frozen. I didnt touch it. We then began our wait... and we waited... and we waited. After approximately 20 minutes we walked out... rather mad and disgusted. Our waiter passed our table numerous times, glanced at our menus but never came back to take our order. We left, drove up the street to Kroger for groceries and back home before someone in our party realized hed left his phone in the restaurant. We rushed back and walked in to find the table just as we had left it, with the menus and the untouched frozen margarita still sitting there!!! The phone was under one of the menus so it was still there. No one said anything to us when we left OR when we went back in to retrieve the phone. I"m not sure we will ever return even though it means driving to another Mexican restaurant a lot farther away than the half-mile that I live from the establishment now. One of the reasons for patronizing this location is that I, as a former public school teacher, taught one of the employees and is always nice to see her smiling happy face when I walk in. Oh that wed had HER for our wait person tonight.

Good grief, this is the worst mexican restaurant in Smyrna TN. The food was on par with a Patio TV dinner and the service was worse! We sat on the patio for dinner on Wed. night because you couldnt breathe in the restaruant from the Pine Sol smell. There was only 2 tables of people inside whole restaurant and no one on the patio. We had flies all over us on the patio and took 10 minutes for a server to even come to table to get drink order. Another 10 minutes before we got our drinks. Food came out room temp. and like it was cooked a day or two ago. My wife and son never got a refill on their drinks ( $2 for a coke and $2 for lemonade ) or was even asked if they wanted a refill. Never got refill on chips ( chips so hard they stab the roof of your mouth ) and no hot sauce refill either.( hot sauce so hot you couldnt eat it ) they do that so you dont eat alot of it,,,obviously cuz the food had zero flavor. Me and my son shared , so asked server for extra plate for him and she never brought one. He ate off napkin on the table. When we were done eating, a guy shows up ( who wasnt our female with dark hair in a pony tail ( worsed server ever ) waitress ...with a plate in his hand for my son...this was after we were all done eating...now he brings a plate. Also what is not on the up and up..this place doesnt itemize the check when you check out...so you have to remember how much everything you ordered was and calclulate it on your own, cuz you are just given a total to pay and hope u dont get screwed like we did outta $35 bux for a terrible service experience.

Good food, great service. Ive lived in Smyrna for 2 years and this was my first time visiting La Siesta. Before I reach for the salt and pepper I always sample my food first. I had the Monday special which was 2 enchiladas, rice and beans. Its a bit difficult finding good authentic refried beans and even harder to find good Spanish rice. At La Siesta, I was pleasantly surprised that both were authentic tasting so needless to say, I ate the portions which I consider generous for the price of the lunch plate. The enchiladas were just as delicious as the rest of my lunch and there was no need for me to reach for the salt or pepper. The chips were not the best, a bit thick and dry, I suspect that they buy the chips in bulk and potentially has GMOs in them but again I dont know for certain and I could be wrong. My server, his name was Able and he was very good at his craft. When I walked into the restaurant I was greeted immediately and was seated in less than 1 minute. Able greeted me as soon as I was seated, asked me what I would like to drink. I was in a bit of a hurry so I had placed my order at the same time. My drink, chips and salsa were delivered very fast and I waited no more than 10 minutes before my lunch was served. I will most definitely come back and try the dinner menu in the near future. As far as price and value, take a look at the picture, you can not get this kind of meal for the price I paid at any fast food restaurant and the service there was quicker than if you walked into a Starbucks for one cup of coffee. Hope this helps you.....

The restaurant had good service, the food tasted good - at first- and everything seemed to be wonderful. The bill was over $50, but for 4 of us and as many left overs as we had it was pretty good. There was a live artist, Tony, and he was absolutely wonderful! We left big tips and left with smiling faces. Until about 1 am when my husband, myself, my 10 year old daughter and 8 year old son, were all up throwing everything up. FOOD POISONING! The only thing that we all ate the same thing of was beans and rice and Salsa! Maybe it was the Salsa?! Im calling today for a refund :( , well see!

The meal started off well enough. The chips, salsa, and queso dip were good, as were the wings and the kids sausage meal. The rest of the meal was mediocre at best. The chicken quesadilla was poorly thrown together. My fried seafood plate had a huge clump of calamari that was stuck together and very tough. My husbands combination plate could have come from Taco Bell, and the churros were still raw on the inside. Combine that with an inattentive server and an $80 bill, and you can see why we wont be back.

We have eaten at La Siesta a couple times, but with a new born baby all we do now is get take out fajitas which is so much food. The lunch portion is the same amount for next to nothing which is great on the weekends and of course you get ur chips / salsa. I will admit they did mess up one take order we had... but they actually called me before I got home as they noticed they made a mistake. When I went back they gave me some free food to make up for the mix up which was nice.
