We have been eating here since my 30 yr old kids were toddlers! The food is always fresh and hot, with a good selection, which varies based on the day of the week. It is family owned and run; most of the staff are in some way related to Mrs Prosser, the lady that started and still continues to work there. The BBQ is awesome; tender, juicy and flavorful, the fried chicken is crispy and the crust has an excellent flavor, the Salisbury steak with bell pepper and onions in brown gravy is delicious! As is the squash cassarole, parmesan tomatoes, along with all you other typical southern comfort foot veggies. There is generally baked and/or fried fish as well and homemade spaghetti. There is a vast array of cobblers; peach, blackberry and sometimes cherry, strawberry shortcake, brownies, cookies, awesome apple fritters and always a varied assortment of Purity Ice Cream, including sugar free! On Sundays, you can get Pecan and Chocolate Fudge pie as well! There is a well stocked salad bar, usually including a homemade ham salad or tuna salad with small rolls to make little sandwiches out of. Just like my grandma says at her house, if you go away hungry its your own fault! Mrs Prosser and her family will treat you like family!

I have been eating with them for over 40 yrs. They were originally off of Dickerson Rd. and moved twice since then. Best food I have ever eaten. Love the atmosphere. No tax on the bill. I guess it is included. Homey atmosphere with fire place and decorations. The lady who owns it came here from Europe during WWII. She has a great story to tell if you ask her. I have never had better food anywhere in the Nashville area. Everyone I take there want to go back again. If I could give it 6 stars I would.

I had higher hopes based on the reviews I read here. The Smorgasbord wasnt as great as Id hoped, but it was a pretty decent restaurant. I visited at lunch time. Id label the buffet as on par with Ryans Steakhouse or the like (but definitely better than Golden Corral). It was okay, but not amazing. What WAS amazing, however, were the apple fritters on the dessert bar! Id come back just to eat my weight of those things. It was a cute little southern restaurant and they do desserts right!

Its like you went to your grandmas for Sunday dinner and she had all of your favorites ready for you. Hermitage House has been around for years and years. Always busy on Sundays which is when we had this most recent visit. Wide variety of good Southern food options on there decent sized Buffet. Most everything I tried was great. Fish, ham, shoepeg corn, mashed potatoes, roast beef , hashbrown casserole , great cornbread and every dessert was wonderful.

I went having high hopes only to be extremely let down. First off, 12.50 for a buffet with only 3 main meats and a couple vegetables. The meat loaf was boiling on the buffet. The mash potatoes were really bad. The only item that was good were the rolls. Overall from start to finish I do not recommend. Especially for 12.50.

AWFUL is the only word I can think of to describe the quality and taste of the food at this restaurant. The cook looks like hes on work release and he mustve gotten his training in a jail house kitchen or a nursing home kitchen. leave your taste buds at home, you wont be needing them here!

Well I almost didnt go because of the few people on here that gave it bad ratings. Now I am So glad we did , I took my family and we loved the place, that decor, the atmosphere, the food, service and all were excellent. This is going to be a regular stop for us on our trips to Nashville!

Not very professional. The older male host did not greet me when I came in & kept me waiting even though no one was at his desk, he pointed to the table instead of seating us, the food was bland, it smelled funny in the building. Our waitress was nice but no personallty.

Its a buffet restaurant and the selection was just OK. There was a salad bar, a hot bar and desserts. The food I ate tasted pretty good but there wasnt as much as I would have liked. There was not a carving station. Id say it was just average.

Great smorgasbord. Salad bar, main plate, desert and coffee or tea all at one price. Unless you go on a shrimp or crab leg night, then there is an additional charge if you want them. Best place for Thanksgiving dinner away from grandmas.

OK food, the dining room is set up for bus tours to stop. They did make an effort to make it nice with table cloths and classical music. It is a buffet. To get a good selection arrive early. Price is high in my opinion at $15.00

Always a treat to come here. Absolutely delicious food. Everything is so fresh. Delightful. Try their signature apple fritters. To die for. Staff is gracious and the lady who runs the establishment is charming and welcoming.

I have eaten here numerous times when I lived in Hermitage. I love this place; especially the salad bar, sweet tea and the deserts. The wait staff are very attentive and I love the hot homemade dunuts. Yum.

Good food, small selection. Décor reminded me of a grandparents house mixed with the dining room of a retirement home. Not saying that was a bad thing, just unusual and hard to place while you were there.

Family owned buffet style eating. Courtious staff and good food ( all homemade ). Desserts were amazing! About 20 min. from opryland so a little off the beaten path but worth it.

This was the worst buffet i ever had. The chicken was greasy and the greens were inedible...horrible food and cost 12.50. Spend your money somewhere else.

Southern style buffet food. Large open convention style dining area. Food was OK, but not worth the lunch pricing unless you get several plates.

Buffet lunch. Salad bar ingredients were mainly right out of cans. Hot meals were just okay. Desert choice were good.
