The older gentleman who answers the phone and greets customers at front has no customer service skills whatsoever. After i paid for my meal i was pointed in the direction of where to grab my food at a table a few steps away. What happened to them handing the food to customer. Never experienced that before. And this man asked me when i was coming to pickup up my order after i told him what I wanted over the phone. What??? Arent you supposed to tell us when the order will be ready???? I had a subpar chimichanga that was like more like a soggy burrito. The tortilla was supposed to be fried and crispy according to the menu. Would only come back to try the chix soup everyone seems to like. And thats only if i feel like dealing with terrible customer service that day. Wouldnt recommend to anyone. Food and customer service get a thumbs down from me.

My expirience at El Palenque mexican restraunt, located across Green Hills Mall, has always been outstanding. No exaggeration. I know that when a Mexican restraunt knows how to prepare perfect beans and rice, that all their dishes will be delicious. Ive tried many of their dishes. Ive enjoyed, enjoy, whatever I ve ordered. Kindness, goes without saying. Ive been enjoying El Palenque Mexican restraunt almost 19 years. Meals here at El Palenque Mexican restraunt, will always have a loyal, thankful clients in me. Dont miss out. Oh, the best margaritas in Nashville!! Keep rocking El Palenque. I know as long as you do, I will. May I have another margarita? Come join the food and family oriented fun A.

I went there today and the service was terrible. I placed a to go order 30 minutes prior to pick up at 12 and the waiter acted like I was an inconvenience to him, then he forgot the drink in my order and asked what my order was even though I placed it prior to coming in! Then he stated that it wasnt something on the menu that Ive ordered several times before coming there. He gave me the wrong order in the end of the transaction as well and the food was terrible and had soggy nachos in it. Ive tried couple times coming back to try on different day, but this the last time I try this place. Inauthetic, unprofessional and always unhappy when I walk out. Dont go to this place, save yourself the trip.

Ordered a very average Chimichanga and asked for my guacamole that came with the meal to be put in a bowl on the side. The waiter was young and spoke fluent English and wrote this down. When we went to pay they had charged us an extra $4.50 for something that came with the meal and didnt even end up touching. They were very rude and refused to take off the extra charge. Its the closest Mexican restaurant to our home but we only go there when we dont feel like driving to Cinco De Mayo where the food is much better. We had previously named the place "Grumpy Mexican" because the waiter thats always there is so grumpy. Tonight will be our last night going to "Grumpys".

The food is good, but Ive been working in the area recently and came by for lunch quite a few times and the service sucks. They open at 11 and I usually go at that time. They are not ready to accept customers at that time and the waiter seems put off that youre there when they open the doors. Ive witnessed customers and Ive had to myself ask for someone to take our drink order to get started. I usually ask for coke and a water because youll have to hunt someone down to get a refill.

We ate there about 9:00 on a Saturday night. The onions and green peppers in shrimp fajitas were mushy--had to dig out shrimp and eat with the rice, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream to get any flavor. The flan was good, but I thought it would be hot/warm with thick carmel sauce, but sauce was thin & runny. This meal for two ended up at $34, high for the low quality of food. Our table was in a narrow area like a hallway near the kitchen. No atmosphere.

What a wonderful restaurant with delicious food!!! I must say I am very sad to see how the remodeling turned out - so much of the character/uniqueness" is now gone - I especially was shocked to see the beautiful, colorful sink in the bathroom replaced by a run of the mill wall sink. Good thing the people who insisted on remodeling (those responsible for building remodeling) do not effect the cook! The food is still outstanding!!!

Had the worst experience here! The service was terrible! My waiter was very rude! We were very polite but I guess he was just having a bad day? And when I went to go to pay for my food, my card wasnt working and he read out my card info infront of EVERYONE! Was not happy about this place at all! Youre going to work in a restaurant, learn how to work with people correctly and treat them nicely!

This place has been around for a LONG time. Foods good, consistent, and reasonably priced for standard Mexican fare. Wait staff can be a little iffy, though. Have had great service when really busy, and meh service when slow. But for a non-chain restaurant to make it 20+ years in Nashville, they definitely are doing most things right.

This is the best Mexican restaurant around! The chicken soup is outstanding! The super fajita quesadilla is delicious. The salsa beats any Ive ever had. The owners care about the quality of the food and your dining experience. Theyve recently renovated and the place looks great!

Ive only been here once - so maybe I was here on an off night. That said, we had a very unhappy/angry waiter serving us. The food was below average by Nashville standards, and the prices werent low to make up for it either.
