I was excited to find a Cuban Restaurant located in Nashville after relocating from the Miami area of South Florida and was looking forward to finally finding a place to stop for a Colada. I visited around lunch on a Tuesday since they are closed on Mondays. They are located in a small strip mall with a gas station and several other businesses so the lot was crowded and their was a line inside. Once I got up to the counter I ordered a double shot Colada and a Cubano Sandwich off the menu. The service was adequate and the staff was friendly. The inside area of the restaurant was small but typical for a Cuban Lunch place. They also have several bistro style tables with chairs outside on the walkway. Most the other patrons were ordering to go so getting a table was not difficult. Despite the crowd my order arrived to me quickly. The Colada was a generous size for a double shot and had a nice espumita and was correctly sweetened. It arrived at my table relatively quickly but I was surprised to find it not hot but rather almost barely lukewarm and left me disappointed. I am hoping this was a one-off and that maybe it was delayed in reaching me or the espresso maker was not working correctly on the day of my visit. The Cubano arrived and looked great. I was disappointed to find that the bread seemed to be stale as it was very hard and crumbled apart as I tried to eat. I had read other reviews stating that the bread was hard but thought the reviewers were not accustomed to a sandwich being pressed. This was not the case though as the bread was dry and falling apart. The sandwich was dry and I did not find any mayonnaise and a very small amount of yellow mustard. While the portion size was decent I was unable to eat the entire sandwich due to how dry it was. I will try the Colada again when I am in the area but will probably leave the food alone and await our next trip back home.

Yep, definitely the closest thing to Cuban food for me so far here in Nashville. Maybe Ill update this sometime if I find something better, but that has yet to happen. Anyways, Im going to preface this with the fact that I am Hispanic, speak spanish, and previously lived in Miami for 12+ years, so Ive had tons of Cuban and Caribbean food. That being said, you cant ever compare places outside of Miami to those in there, but MAN this place comes pretty close. I came here with a friend, and we got the cuban sandwich and the steak sandwich, so we could both try a half of them. We also got the maduros, and she got a Guava shake. Now I personally dont like Guava (strange, I know) but she said it was amazing. Meanwhile, the maduros were authentic and delicious - and what I particularly like was that they werent super greasy. As for the sandwiches, the cuban was amazing. Thick and filled with all the right meats and cheese and nice toasty bread and..... now Im salivating thinking about it. Point is, it was made very well and Id definitely put it in the top 10 cubans Ive had. Meanwhile, the steak sandwich was pretty good as well, with tender meat and cruchy fresh lettuce. I did feel it was lacking something, upon which I realized I forgot to add cheese to it. Maybe it should be included in the sandwich itself, because it really should be there, cheese on cuban steak sandwiches is amazing. Then again, for me, cheese on ANYTHING is great, so I might be a bit biased, heh. Overall, amazing place, and will be coming back whenever I need to revisit my cuban food here in Nashville.

I am not the most adventurous eater. I get scared easily, and am frightened of food poisoning. I am what they call "sensitive". Having said that, I got my courage up and went to visit "Back to Cuba". Yummy! I have been twice now and thoroughly enjoyed both my visits. I had a chicken dish and then a shrimp dish - both delicious. And some of the best rice I have ever had. I liked the plantains. I didnt think I would, but I did. My aunt ordered some yucca. The yucca was yummy too - not yucky at all. :) The place is warm and cozy - very little but not so little that it was uncomfortable. The staff are friendly and the place is clean. What a lovely little gem! Drive there, go eat Cuban food, and be happy! Oh, and they have flan. Not in a tube, but real flan. :D

An out of the way nook of a place, this homey, family run cafe, is out of this world delicious!!! Although not upper class and snooty, this down home cafe is reminiscent of times past. The menu is located on colorful paper cut outs on the back wall, behind an old fashioned wooden counter, with Cuban decor throughout. The gentleman who took our order, spent an enormous amount of time explaining the many menu options to us, as well as other customers after us. We chose to share cubano and media noche sandwiches, which were authentic and scrumptious. For desert we had the flan which is a culinary delight. I highly recommend this diamond in the rough, as the saying goes, "dont judge a book by its cover".

The food was outstanding. As a Cuban woman, finding authentic Cuban food (read: no sour cream on the beans, no fruit on the meat) has been a struggle. No longer! Finally found it! Taking off one star for the service. They were pretty busy (obvs, it was effing delicious) and misunderstood my order, and thats fine - but they were pretty rude when I brought it to their attention. Not that I care. They would have to like mace me to keep me out of this place. It was that good. I will be back - often - and if the service gets better will bump it up to 5 stars.

This is probably the most authentic Cuban restaurant outside of Miami / South Florida. If you are looking for a true Cuban eating experience, Back to Cuba is a MUST. As for the menu - you cant go wrong. I have gone several times and each time tried something different - NEVER disappointed. The delicious food combined with the nostalgia of Miami makes this place perfect. The owner (I think) is from the heart of Miami and it shows in the food. Expect to hear what sounds like your Abuelo yelling and Celia Cruz blaring in the background. Perfection.

My sweetheart & I were staying at a hotel nearby & needed a place to eat on our way to a special event. Even on a Saturday, service was prompt & the food more than reasonably priced. We split the lemon garlic tilapia that came with plantains, salad, & rice, adding a side of black beans -- all perfectly prepared & incredibly delicious. Throw in a mango milkshake, and we were still out of there satisfied & for under $25 including tip. The staff is incredibly friendly (& dare I say cute), the atmosphere both chill and cozy. Highly recommended.

In a hurry so Ill keep this short. Sandwich was made with bare hands. Are gloves not a requirement here? Tried to pay on two occasions and was not allowed to until we ate. Strange. Got a Cubana and a Miami. They were both just ok. Liked the flaky bread, but overall flavor was lacking. The unique soda in the goldish can was the best part. $24 w/tip for two people... I would have enjoyed subway more. Love to support small business, so I wish I could say the experience was better.
