On a whim, I decided to make the drive over to Edgefield and finally give Sky Blue Cafe a shot for breakfast on a late Saturday morning. Finding parking on the street was easy, and I knew as I walked up and saw the crowd there would be more than a short wait. The friendly hostess, Brooke, informed me for a table for one there would be about a fifty-five minute wait, and she was just about right. I sipped on the coffee they had outside for guests and read the Scene while I waited. When I was seated, I was given a two-top by the window but was also right next to the door. I got a big gust of cold wind each time the door was opened. Beggars cant be choosers! Porkchops arent listed on the menu, but Im glad I ordered it served up with eggs, your choice of bread, and homefries, potatoes which were perfectly seasoned and the highlight of my meal. To satisfy my sweet tooth, I ordered a slice of French toast to accompany my more savory main plate, and Im glad I did. Overall, I felt I was having breakfast at a friends house with food lovingly prepared, if not expertly executed. Generally, I believe you can accurately judge a place by how well they cook their eggs, and my fried eggs were a big disappointment, over-cooked and rubbery with the yolks totally solidified. Luckily, the other items on my plate redeemed the cafe. I am glad I passed on the mimosas which were served with orange juice in a champagne flute with a mini bottle of champagne on the side that you must pour yourself. For $8 each and no refills, this seemed like a waste of money. I enjoyed my visit, but I wouldnt go out of my way to come again unless a friend was just dying to go.

Love this place, but slightly disappointed with our last visit (family of four with young kids). Our Sat morning wait was close to an hour, but the complimentary coffee and water was nice. Me and the kids were served first, but there was a very long, awkward wait for my wifes food to come...so we all waited with our food getting cold. No explanation was given until I flagged-down the waitress - would have been nice if she explained things when she dropped off the food, or figured out a way to serve us all in a short window of time. (I know, I know...they were super busy.) I had one refill on coffee, but I endured an empty cup and empty glass of water for rest of the breakfast. I really want to keep coming here...but I felt certain underpinning attitude of, "Were hip, so dont complain because...were hip". Not exactly a typical family spot, but well try again. Generally love their pancakes, but mine tasted wrong this time...dry? Stale? I get the whole hipster thing, but please dont slack on service!

The food was great (I ordered the Armadillo sandwich, which would be awesome with bacon added, but was good anyway), but it took 40 minutes for our food to come out. Because of this, the manager comped half our bill, which is more than I would have expected, and took care of the issue. The only complaint I still have is that we werent told there would be a delay until at least 30 minutes after we ordered. It was lunch time - imagine I had gone there on an hour-long lunch break from work, waited 30 minutes without food or even being told there was a delay! I would have been out of there with no food, and this review would have been one star, with explicit instructions that no one should ever go here. All in all, delicious food and an acceptable response to a tough day, one that saved the experience for me, but still, staff could have been a bit quicker response. Definitely worth checking out!

Ive never had a bad meal here. In the past they had a portobello mushroom sandwich on their menu, and the portobello was marinated in a balsamic reduction, dressed with fresh veggies, and served on a pretzel bun. This was a couple of years ago, and I still remember how freaking delicious it was. I ordered it for takeout weekly for a while there. Nothing else they serve has surpassed the tastiness of that sandwich...for me...but everything is very good and well-seasoned. I will agree that the wait time can be kind of long sometimes (depending on the time of day and size of your party), even after youre seated, but the staff is very friendly, and the food is quite good and made fresh as you order it. Its a small but cozy atmosphere conducive to chatting with friends. Oh, and they make an absolutely delicious cup of coffee.

It said outside: Good thing are worth the wait. Well, it is not bad food they serve here, but I didnt think it was worth the wait. The food is good: the Denver omelet was pretty tasty and well-prepared. The filled French Toast Pancakes with banana and Nutella were okay. The Pancakes were crumbly and dry, and the French toast were okay but lacked flavor. In addition, we did not know what to expect from that dish but the portion of it is insanely large: perhaps you cannot make it another way, but it just unnecessary and the menu doesnt have a warning. The cappuccino tasted like it had some residue, and the regular coffee is good. The staff is really friendly. All in all, I would come here quite often, if it would be around the corner from where I live and there was hardly ever a wait.

Disappointing visit. I dined here recently on a weekday mid-morning, with my mom. I had the Los Bowl and she had the Salmon Benedict. My over medium eggs were hard, and so was her poached egg. We werent about to send it back, though, because it took so long to be served - not sure why, as the restaurant wasnt close to full. Ive never seen french fries served as breakfast fries before-but unusual doesnt always equal good. The fries in the Los Bowl were okay because they were on the bottom and had the liquid and heat from the sauteed veggies to soften them and keep them warm, but the fries on my moms plate were dry and cold as if theyd been cooked and left out all morning. The best I can say is we were glad there wasnt a wait and that we had a coupon so we didnt pay full price.

I cant even tell you how much we loved this place! We had breakfast here during our last morning in Nashville during a girlsweekend. We had eaten breakfast/brunch at other local restaurants, but this one is by far the best! I ordered the Tuscan 2.0. It was amazing! Cooked to perfection! My friend had the A.B.T omelette, which she said was equally delicious. Our other friend had the brie infused French toast. All were delicious. The seating is very limited but very quaint. There are some benches outside to wait. They had a water cooler and a coffee carafe outside, as well. I felt this was very thoughtful. All wait staff were impeccable. Everyone was so nice! We will certainly come back, again, when we venture back to Nashville.

My first time going to Sky Blue Cafe was on a Saturday morning. I chose not to go in because of the long wait. The second time around I went on a Friday morning, we were seated after about 20 minutes. Once seated service was prompt and courteous. I had the Space Captain omelet with a decaf cappuccino. The coffee was mild and flavorful, the omelet was light and fluffy. It comes with a vegetarian sausage which has a flavor and texture I think any carnivore (such as myself) would enjoy. All in all it was a pleasant experience. I hope they expand their facilities because I imagine the long lines on weekends are driving many people away from a great meal (as was my first experience with Sky Blue).
