I wanted so badly to love your place because its unique, shows character, small and off the beat and path which usually shows heart and passion and makes the experience great. Unfortunately I just cant get pass the level of service not only from our server but what appeared to be the owner and your manager. Personally if I dont love the food but the service is spot on I will return. My expectations for service differ based on the location and price point but in this case, even the basics were non existent. It was not the food that left a bad taste in my mouth however I would reconsider the current cheese plate selection. Undecided if there will be a future visit. The front of the house in a small place like this is crucial to your success. They have to be trained and know your products. Your prices are in line but your team cant up sell if they dont make a personal connection with your guest and have limited knowledge of whats even on your menu, what I should order and why. This affects how much both you and your server make off my table. Knowing the soup of the day, what type of greens are used in your side salad, what the cheeses are on the cheese plate, the special dessert of the day and how big of portion it is are all what I would consider basics. She had to go check on all of the above mentioned questions. Leaving the water pitcher on the table so we can refill our own glasses when there are literally only 6 tables in the whole place seems strange. We had 2 apps, 4 sandwiches and 2 desserts that took more than an 1 1/2 hours to finally pay our bill and head out. We watched guests come in after we did, dine and leave before we were even served our main entree. It also is awkward for your guests when only one entree is served and the remaining 3 orders come out 5 mins later especially when our table is positioned 5 feet from the kitchen. This is also where we heard the notice from the kitchen to 86 the soup at 5:20 pm and the cheese plate at 6:15. Little more discretion to your serving team and perhaps more planning from the kitchen team at the dinner hour on a Saturday night. Just my opinion. Dessert was ordered before entrees finally arrived because we noticed the longer service time but to serve the dessert literally after I took the 2nd bite of the entree you just served just shows a lack in training and basic serving skills. And if your owner/manager is going to engage with the bar patrons and the 5 other tables to check on their experience or make a personal connection, dont skip the 6th table where we set for an hour and a half observing. You could have learned about my not so great 1st impression in private vs this public forum. Hope you will utilize the constructive criticism given from my experience to better your team and make the improvements so I can return and write a different story.

Decided to take a trip to Middle Earth and enjoy the creative decor and ambiance of The Green Dragon Public House in Murfreesboro. If you are a fan of JRR Tolkien you will really enjoy how they set the place up. First...the draft and bottle beer selection is AWESOME and can satisfy most palates, and from what I can tell it changes frequently. They also have a nice selection of ciders and local wines, I tried a Pineapple cider that was really good and had a pint of Black Abbey Special. I went with the homemade tomato basil soup and their three-cheese grilled cheese sandwich. It was difficult for me to keep from licking the bowl and the sandwich was delicious. They have a very interesting and unusual menu that I look forward to exploring. Seems everything here is homemade and prepared by Kimberly while the beer is served by her husband Joe or her Dad Wayne. I was cashed out by their son Griffin, a true family business that I shall return to again and again.

I was in the Murfreesboro, TN area from 09JUN17 - 11JUN17 for a short vacation. As an LotR fan, this establishment was on my list of "Must See" things in the area. Well, I got to see it--that was absolutely it. The bar staff seemed friendly, as I stood next to the "Please wait to be seated" sign to the left of the entrance, the bartenders were the only ones who welcomed us. The wait staff, on the other hand, gave my guest and me outright glares -- that was as far as they seemed willing to go to acknowledge our presence. Still, I waited for perhaps 10 minutes, as I really wanted to sample the fare. I might have waited longer if not for the happenstance that another party of two walked in and were immediately approached and seated. I can only guess, at this point, that we were ignored due to the fact that our hair wasnt pink and purple like that of the new arrivals.

Good variety of beers on draft. Most are a little too off-the-wall for me though. The proprietor is brewing however and will have around five of his own drafts soon becoming the second brewery in Murfreesboro behind Mayday. Meals are limited to mostly sandwiches. This isnt a bad thing since most breweries do not serve food. Food took a while and is ok. Nothing stellar. Atmosphere manages to actually mimic an old pub without feeling to kitschy. This is mostly due to old dark woods that are naturally distressed. The pub is VERY loosely based on a Lord of the Rings theme (The Green Dragon is the tavern in the book). A couple toy swords, a map on the wall and a small version of Smaug hanging from the ceiling is about it though. Conclusion: any new brewery is welcome and this one should be pretty good. It does have a real pub atmosphere which I applaud.

I reunited with my sisters for the first time in my life. We were in Nashville to see the haunts the weekend before, and my one sister had a conference in Alabama all week, so was going to meet me one more time before she had to fly home to Oregon. I heard great things about the Green Dragon, so decided to give it a try. She had a salmon type sandwich and I had the turkey reuben. Absolutely delicious. They are said to have the best soups in town, so if you are a big eater having both a soup and sandwich will be more than enough. Great beer selection and loved the musicians. Adorable and great staff. The owner Joe was there, great ambience and cool guy. I understand his wife makes everything from scratch and has some mad skills at what she does, very impressed. Thanks Joe and Kimberly !

Good food and great drinks! The big thing to remember about this place is that they support micro-breweries and artisan beverage and cheese makers, so the prices are a bit on the high side. That aside, the drinks are awesome; lots of flavor and a very good selection. The food is flavorful, most dishes are made using Irish recipes, and the staff are very knowledgeable as to which drinks will match with which dish. The pub itself has a very Old Irish feel to it, from the building materials to the floorplan; the (mostly Tolkien) decorations add an interesting twist. If you walk the Murfreesboro Greenways, the cheese platter is the ideal snack, very re-energizing, especially after walking the entire 4.5 miles from Thompson Lane.
