I went for the first time to the Claddagh yesterday for St. Patricks day. At first the place seemed excellent with great atmosphere, music, and a friendly staff. The music was genuinely Irish, the food looked amazing. If everything would have gone well I wouldve given 4 stars in stead of two. I did like my fish and chips, someone recommended them as being the best in Indy, so I gave them a shot. The batter is nice, lightly fried, and comes with a delicious dip, fries, and coleslaw. My only comment with the fish and chips is what I have with almost every American restaurant that serves them, is that its cod. It would be great if more restaurants out there offered halibut, pollock, or haddock, especially for the price and limited preparation that goes into a dish like this. The service was going great until the computers went down right about when I wanted to move out and asked for my check. Our server became obviously stressed and didnt come to our table for about 15 minutes. Then when I asked for my bill she told us of the computers were down and she wouldnt be able to charge me until they came back up in about 15 - 20 minutes. After about 30 minutes of additional waiting, I asked if I could get a discount or free drink to make up for my wait. She replied that everyone else was waiting and there was nothing she nor the manager could do. I found this to be unacceptable customer service, especially when there was a $10.00 cover for St. Patricks day. Not only did I have to pay to get in, but I had to take time out of my day for them to work out their operational issues. Im still a bit upset at this and unsure if I will return. If I do return it will be because all of the food coming out of the kitchen looked delicious, authentic, and the service was pretty good until their calamitous computer crash.

My wife and I went there about 1 week after St.Patricks day. Atmosphere is great and the service was great. My wife ordered corned beef and cabbage dinner, which had a good helping of corned beef, cabbage and potatoes. She enjoyed it very much and was well worth the price. Now comes my order. As an appetizer, I ordered corned beef and cabbage rolls. VERY DISAPPOINTED! Seriously, you had to look VERY HARD to see ANY corned beef. Take this off the menu or put some corned beef in it. Do not order this. Then for my dinner, I order the hot shaved corned beef, swiss cheese & house made coleslaw on grilled marble rye. Once again, WHERES THE CORNED BEEF???? If you want a GOOD corned beef sandwich with 2 or 3 times the corned beef (reuben) and several dollars less, go to ARBYS. TWO VERY THIN SLICES, smothered in cole slaw. So, I should have just ordered the corned beef dinner, and I would have been a happy guy. My wife was happy and I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. Im going to Arbys today for lunch to get a good corned beef sandwich. One last thing, its an IRISH pub right? You seem to be a big promoter of Guinness, how about getting in some Guinness EXTRA STOUT IN THE BOTTLE??? I will probably go back, but will choose my food VERY CAREFULLY.

We love coming here to this location. The service is great & the food is wonderful!!! The have daily food & drink specials too. On Sundays The have domestic beers for $2 & exports for $2.50!! Thats awesome! We were a party of 8 & seated right away. Part of the party ordered shepherds pie which comes with a salad, Scotch Eggs for an app, mushroom-thyme chicken, side salad, kids chicken tenders w/fries, & The Paddy Mac (their version of a Rueben) & kids fish. Another got wings and the famous fish & chips, but I didnt get a picture of those. We each sampled each others & they were all delicious. Definitely favorite of the table was the Mushroom-Thyme Chicken & the Shepherds pie. Everything was reasonable priced as well. Im telling you, you cant go wrong here. Even if you arent an Irish food fan (dont know how that is possible) there is still something here for everyone. Its just a great place & a great atmosphere!!

We really enjoyed it. Our only negative was in direct contrast with a few of the other reviews - our food came out too fast. We hadnt even finished our appetizer (corned beef and cabbage rolls, very good) when our salads and soup came (house salad was simple but good, clam chowder was different but good). Those were barely started when our entrees came out. The server should have recognized this and either held up the entrees or had them remade later. Instead, when I said something about it all being out together he replied, "Yeah, the kitchen is overstaffed tonight so they are really cranking it out.". Not a good answer. We had the "award winning" fish n chips, a pub staple. The fish were nice sized filets and the batter was light and tasty. The tartar sauce was good too. We actually came for the advertised live acoustic music, and we really enjoyed him. We will certainly be back.

Walked in and immediately smelled something you dont want to smell when your about to eat. It smelled like a dirty wet mop. (Use pine sol or something) This caused me to not order anything and just get a drink. We got some plates for my friends appetizer... 3 out of 4 of them were dirty. (This made me think if my cup was even clean, so I stopped drinking) Then the waitress allowed my friend to order a drink and comes back half way through our stay and takes the drink away because she never asked for I.D. (Sorry lady, its your job to ask for ID before handing someone a drink) Needless to say, I will not be returning and others should consider choosing another place to eat (Some place more clean and has more common sense)

I have always been a fan of Claddagh for their awesome prices on some of my favorite import and craft brews, but I recently became an even bigger fan of the food. Their new spring/summer menu is delicious...try the chicken meatloaf! My server recommended it as a unique item and I was extremely happy she did. My friends and I sat outside on the patio and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The manager who visited our table was polite and friendly (and authentic Irish!), and everyone we encountered was generally very pleasant. Definitely will be back for buy one get one free Fish and Chips on Mondays which we saw a sign for when we were there!

Its a pub. But not that rowdy or noisy even when busy. There are lots of "zones" that allow things to be more intimate even more so than the downtown Indianapolis location. If you set the bar at "pub food" though youd be missing the point. Many of the dishes are just well above that expectation. Even their simple fish & chips always turns out perfect, comforting and nostalgic. This is certainly one of those places that can be different based upon time of day. Later at night it skews more bar and less dinner, but earlier in the evening it is easily a place where family can eat/drink/socialize w/o concern.
