So, last night my mother and I went to Half Shell on Winchester to grab a bite to eat. After the hostess sat us down we began to view the menu. As we are looking at the menu, a waiter walks up and asked what we wanted to drink. I hesitated because he just walked up out of no where and didnt even introduce himself. So, anyway, I ordered a VIP and my mother ordered sweet tea. He returned back with the drinks. He asked if we were ready to order and my mom replied, "no not yet" because she was still trying to make her decision. He left the table and returned maybe 10 minutes later. So, when he finally returned we began ordering our meals. My mother said, "I would like to order the Half Shell PoBoy." His response was "Um… well…. Half Shell has a lot of PoBoys" with a kind of snappy attitude. My mom and I looked at each other and she informed him that she would like blackened shrimp after skimming the menu fir her options. Anyway, we order our meals and we eat. As we are dining, two other couples came in one sat behind us and the other couple sat in front of us. Both couples were not African American. So, I immediately noticed that he was the waiter for both tables. I could hear him walk up to the tables, 1) introduce himself, 2) inform them of the specials, and even made suggestions. This pissed me off because their are still people out here that are extremely prejudice. His attitude and tone was completely different. Anyone who knows me knows that I tip really well. I normally start at $5 and let you determine if it goes up or down. My mother suggested a $1 tip but knowledge is more powerful so I left him a tip. "You should not make a difference between white & black customers." His name was David (found that out from the receipt) and if you go in there I would not recommend him.

This restaurant should be closed due to extremely poor customer service, discriminatory treatment of customers, and their ineffective ability to manage the waiter staff. My husband and I were blantantly attacked by the "supervisor" not even 2 minutes after canceling an order of nachos that was never brought to our table nor prepared for our consumption. It seems the staff was so consumed with losing $12 that the supervisor saw fit to raise his voice, cause a scene and literally try forcing us to pay for a meal that wasnt ever served. Afte the fact, He tried bringing the food to our table. After we declined, he became so irate it was apparent this person should NOT be in a management role. I particularly question if there was anyone in the restaurant that should be in food service. We paid our check in cash after being told "you people" shouldnt return. Wow! We were floored but happy to see the true colors of the place we were loyal visitors to while in town on business. Be careful at this place. There are some pretty sick people who manage and work there. Money & Greed is the motto. Very sad.

I have been a long time customer @ Half shell because I am absolutely in love with their crab bisque. I have recently found out about the hidden gem in the Royale dishes. The service I have had has always been good. My only complaint is the bar must give stiff drinks bc all of the customers sitting at it are literally screaming at the people seated a foot beside them. In response to the negative comments... just be patient its worth the wait. If you cause a scene, dont tip, or cancel an order I think you should be yelled at and probably banned from returning. These people are just trying to make money and for you to cancel something on its way out is just you being cheap. You ordered it so take it home. Dont let these bad apples spoil a great restaurant for you.

Shown to a booth. Waited almost a full 5 minutes before I was asked if Id like a beverage even though the waitstaff walked by several times. Ordered a NY strip. Though it tasted fine it was full of tendons and a very poor cut. The waitress did not stop to check on me until I was almost done. I told her the cut was poor, paid for my meal. The manager should have stopped to speak with me but did not. Poor service, poor food, and lack of customer appreciation. Will not return. Do yourself a favor and go to Fridays.

You may have to actually scream at them to make sure they dont forget NOT to put poisonous pork in your food.. Because it seems as if they didnt understand that the first 2 times... Utterly disgusted that they do not pay enough attention to their customers to make sure they are not poisoning them. And it doesnt help that they charge a 15% gratuity after 10 and still not give you the utmost professionalism in customer service... SAD

They have a private room here where you can have parties. I had the salmon and it was very tasty. My friend ordered multiple appetizers. Some were good and some not so good. Our food was not hot when we got it. It was a Saturday night and I feel like our waiter was overwhelmed. If I have a large party this place will stay on my radar. But I will make sure we have 2 waiters if possible.

Terrible service!! Very nasty and rude manager. He dont care about the customers at all. He told me if I didnt like their service to get the f out. Ive never been so upset in my life. My sister started crying she was so embarrassed and upset. I ask for another manager or someone who could help me besides him and he gave a nasty smile and walked off. This place is not for Blacks.

I tried it on a friends advice. The food was excellent and the service was prompt. The menu has everything from seafood to steaks and salads and burgers. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portions offered. I normally dont write many reviews, but this place deserved the extra effort. They have daily and weekly specials as well. Ill be back for more Voo Doo.

This food is SOO Flavorful & Plentiful. I had the Idaho Rainbow Trout topped with Shrimp & Fried Oysters with Spinach & Sautéed Veggies. B.F had Half Shell Combo. EVERYTHING was SOO good. We also had the Half & Half Oysters. Gold Margarita, light ice no extra sweet & sour was Superb. B.F had Blue Moon in Frosted glass with Orange. Service has been great!

The other day I went for lunch with my daughter to half shell we got dozen oyster for each of us which was the best after that we order woodoo shrimp and woodoo fish it was just out of this world. Go try it for yourself you will see what i mean. Our waiter was professional and he knew what he was doing. Very pleased

A friend and I went on a Friday evening about 2 weeks ago. The service was TERRIBLE!!!!!! We sat at the table for about 30 minutes and when she finally decided to come and take our order (without an apology for us waiting) it was if we were on her time. We decided to go elsewhere but this location is never again!
