I ordered the vegetable dinner and a couple of side orders of hibachi fried rice over the phone. I was given a total and when I arrived to pick up the order I was told they dont do side orders from the hibachi menu to go, and I would have to wait for a table to fill up (and dine in) if I wanted anything but the vegetables. Now clearly this is policy, if a questionable one--is the implication that the restaurant isnt equipped to produce hibachi orders in the kitchen proper? I have a hard time believing that as that would make this place unique among hibachi restaurants, but fine, you dont want to do it, thats your prerogative as a business. No problem. But given that this is, as assumed, clearly policy, why did the gentleman on the phone take the order? Why not call back and explain the issue once what may have been a mistake was discovered? I drove twenty minutes specifically for hibachi fried rice and vegetables to take home just to be told on arrival that they didnt even make the vegetables. When I asked if there was anything we could work out because of the confusion, he asked if I was gonna order or not, looked at me impatiently, and then said "thanks for coming by" and walked back to where the other staff were sitting at the other end of the bar.

I went here looking to try a new Chinese place other than my typical take out. Based on the google reviews seemed like a safe bet! Unfortunately though I was underwhelmed with my take out of general tsos chicken and spicy shrimp. Meat was tough, over breaded, dark meat chicken which really was 80% bread. The sauce was pretty good as well the egg roll. I did not get the chance to try the sushi or hibachi ( hopefully they are better) but Im hesitant to try after this first experience. Take it from me, I have been to every "great" Chinese restaurant in Memphis and I have yet to find better overal Chinese than panda garden on summer ave. do yourself a favor and try the best in Memphis!

This evening was my first time at A-Tan and I was thoroughly disappointed. The person that sat me and the waiter were nice, buy my overall experience was not good......nothing memorable. The wonton soup was not hot (the temperature) and not very tasty. The rice was old, vegetables were hard, meat was old or at least tasted old. The chicken and beef lacked in it lacked flavor. I wondered if it was rice left over from lunch. The meal lacked authenic Asian taste. The rice tasted as if it was frozen, warmed and served. The shrimp egg roll was blah. I will not return to this restaurant. The prices are reasonable, but the food was not good at all.

I ordered Lo Mein. What arrived however, was a few of bricks of ramen artfully arranged with a bit of garnish. It wasnt even mixed up to conceal it, the bricks were leaned against each other. A tasty and extremely insulting meal that I could have made myself at home for less than fifty cents in five minutes. My only wish is that you could give less than one star.

We eat here often because we like the eggrolls. I like the small plates you can get during lunch hours too. Its family run and everyone is truly very interested in making you very happy with their service. The food is very good. I mainly eat in the dining room and rarely eat habatchi.

Love the hibachi, sushi is average. If you go for early hird hibachi special listed on their website, be prepared to pull it up on your phone and show them. Our waiter had no idea and had to take my phone and show it to at least 3 other people (that I saw) to get approval.

Very dependable food with attentive service. I have never left there disappointed. I have yet to eat on the Japanese side since there are a ton of hibachi places in town, but too few non-buffet Chinese places in Memphis. A-Tan stands out in a shrinking field.

Was not bad, but not worth a trip back. Gyoza was overly doughy, white rice was not fresh and they served the moo shu with tortillas. As an Asian restaurant, I would think you would know where to get the real "pancakes" that are supposed to go with it

Whoo! I have been here two times. First time the food was ok but the second time the food was horrible and when talked to the manager he was really so so rude and the server was really ridiculous. So bad and not recommended.

Wonderful servers who understood that we wanted courses that we wanted to eat slow and just relax. They were amazing our demands (requests). Helpful and polite. The food was delicious and worth every penny.

this place is great for many reasons - food is great - they do happy hour sushi, the hibachi is great and entertaining. Kid friendly and they have a little area for those sweet dates. We are regulars :)

Ive been going to A Tan for over 7 years and its just as good as it ever was. Definitely the best Chinese food in Memphis. The owners are nice friendly folks if you ever get a chance to meet them.

Not a great place for sushi but the hitbachi (sp?) table is very good. I will give it a mixed review as they have their strengths and weaknesses. I am a repeat customer due to its proximity.

Nice, quick, easy and cheap...the only downside is they dont have a buffet. Otherwise it is a perfect place to go (with a fully stocked bar) and a hibachi grill right next door.

The service is excellent and attentive. I inquired about items not on the menu and they accomodated my needs very well. You also cannot overstate the fairness of price

Very nice. Good food, good price, friendly staff. The only problem we had was with my mongolian beef. It was about 80% onions and only 20% beef.

Spring rolls are horrible, they are spoiled. Moreover, manager shouted at us. This is the worst place ever to eat food! Beware people.

Nice atmosphere, very nice food but not the best sushi in town. For the best sushi youll have to go to Ryu Sushi on Summer.
