I took my family to this restaurant with the intent to eat with my family. I placed a simple order and advised (no avocado). The food came out and avocado was everywhere in my plate. Had I not noticed and ate the food, then it would have caused hospitalization for me. I calmly advised the waiter and the correct order was placed. Meanwhile, I watched my family eat. After a reasonable amount of time, I inquired about my meal. The restaurant did not have many customers. The waiter kept passing me without my food. Finally after my family finished their meal, I inquired once more alone with to-go boxes. Then the waiter brings out my meal..... I came to eat with my family, not watch my family eat! I spoke to the manager Omar Lunar hoping to get a simple understanding. Not only did they put me in a health rick, but it took too long to bring out one roll. I showed him the times of our arrival, order time, and the time I received my food. Mr. Omar Lunar showed the most disappointing attitude ever!!!! He wanted to argue as if my time wasnt important. To prove his point, he retrieved his order form and showed his time, which was inaccurate! He did not offer an apology nor did he acknowledge me as a PAYING customer. He simple walk away leaving me offended and he troubled my whole family. He showed my kids how not to be in the management world. I am very disappointed to spend $61.60 and leave the way I did...... Before I wrote my review, I noticed several similar compaints. Im sure Omar Lunar was working....

The only reason I gave this place even a star is because their food is undoubtably amazing, however the staff is a whole different story. Normally not one to wright a bad review but after 2 different terrible experiences Ive had enough. Ive had two separate calling orders and theyll give me an estimated time, the first time I got there right at 25 minutes, when I was told, and my food hadnt been ready. I had to sit for another 15 minutes and wait and got no apology, nothing. Instead I sat there while their staff sat around a table making jokes and laughing around. The second time they told me 30 minutes SO to be safe I got there after 45 MINUTES and when I got there my food was, what a surprise, not ready. Still no apology or anything, just watched the staff play around. I know most the staff are college students and as a college student myself, I work full time and take my job in customer service very seriously, therefore to not get the same in return is disappointing to say the least. Not sure if Ill go back. The food is amazing but bad service is not worth it. Id rather drive a bit further to a staff that takes their jobs seriously.

Very disappointed that Osaka decided to go the way of automatic gratuity. I understand gratuity on tables of 6 or more, but, coming from a former server, automatic 15% gratuity on every table that walks in to the restaurant is insulting. If youre going to do that, osaka better be 100% confident that every single table that walks in to the door is getting absolutely exceptional service. This was not the case. Our server was good, refilling our drinks on time and the usual. Didnt get his name as he was very quiet, much like our hibachi chef, who was not engaging at all. The waiters service was good, but again, if youre going to charge everyone gratuity automatically, it better be EXCELLENT. The hibachi chefs food was good, but again, if youre going to automatically charge me gratuity, it better be EXCELLENT. Moral of the story, if youre going to charge people for the service automatically, your restaurant should offer a caliber of service that should be exceptional and one of a kind. I think osaka chose the easy route. They know exactly what theyre doing and its not doing the servers any favors. Ill come back once that changes.

The only reason they received 1 star is because I had to give that in order to write this review. I am a business owner so I DO NOT like giving bad reviews, however, my family and I are here as I type this review. The food was ok. I ordered the large shrimp fried rice that came with ONLY 5 shrimp and a ton of rice...was not expecting that! My sister on the other hand ordered the IKA Caliente which was squid in some type of sauce...anyways she thought she was getting the fried squid. Well, when she told the waiter that she didnt want that particular dish, they refused to exchange it or take it off her ticket!! Now, come on we are not from Japan and I feel like they should have at least exchanged it, if not give her the money back. Or better yet, train your staff to explain what the dishes are if customers are not familiar with their dishes. As a business owner to another, refusing to satisfy your customers is very bad business. I recommended this establishment having not ever been here. If this is how you do business I am sorry I did that!!

We didnt want to drive far for dinner, so we decided to try this location. The food was great and the atmosphere was pleasant. The facility was clean and very nice with all the light up bars/fixtures. It was not as busy as I thought it was going to be. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Our whaitress (Briana) was very good, however I was slightly disapointed in the lack of entertainment/interaction with the chef. Sadly, I will NOT be back nor recommend this place due to the fact that a 15% tip was added without notice and didnt have an option but to pay it. I expect to have gratuity added for large groups as they can be difficult to serve, however there was only 3 in my party. A tip is an earning and showing apprection for receiving good service. This procedure made me feel as if I was being ripped off and is morally wrong to do that to your guest specially since the menu stated gratuity would be added for groups of 6 or more only and not for any other reason!

The service is EXTREMELY HORRIBLE. We waited over an hour for our food to come and our waitress never acknowledged us during our wait. Our food finally came and one of our coworkers was missing part of our order. We waited another 30 minutes for our tickets and SURPRISE our tickets were incorrect. We, of course, didnt notice until after she swiped our cards. We questioned a manager why our tickets didnt match the sushi menus we were given. He took our tickets and our slow waitress returned to say she (referring to another owner/manager) said the menus are wrong and we were charged the correct price. I asked to speak to this woman. The woman came after 15 minutes, she yelled at me that the menus were wrong and they didnt intentionally overcharge us. I repeatedly demanded my refund and she finally gave us the cash difference. She will probably keep handing out the wrong menu, so please check your ticket before you pay. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN!!!!!

To start this I want to qualify that I am a little biased towards the Osaka location on Macon in Cordova. It has moved, and I have not been to the new Cordova location, though I would like to experience it as the Macon location was on my favorite eats list and it was closer to home. Osaka on Poplar was a birthday dinner location. The food was OK, not great, and prices were reasonable, but the noise level was horrific. Trying to catch up with friends was difficult, it was only possible to carry on a conversation with the person directly next to you, after leaning in towards each other. Being able to speak to someone past the next person over, was impossible for conversation, only for occasional comments, projected vigorously towards them. If they could do something to muffle the noise a bit the experience would improve immensely. There was nothing noteworthy enough make me feel like repeating the experience.
