My wife and Is favorite restaurant. Weve been eating here for years. The renovations they made a few years ago really spruced the place up. They now also have a drive through window where you can pick up your to-go order. Also, they have a really good selection of sushi and sashimi. The sushi chef will usually have a couple of specials every few days that arent on the menu - youll find them written on a chalk board. Many people either dont like sushi or forget that if all you want is sushi, there is an entire separate seating area. Even though it is the sushi bar, you can still order many things off of the main menu. My wife - when we eat at the sushi bar - will usually order a plate of fried rice. The hibachi chefs are all very friendly and funny. Be prepared to attempt to catch a piece of food tossed from the chef towards you - you can always tell them no if you dont want to try. The chefs are also very good with young children. Be prepared for flames to shoot up when the grill is lit. My son loves it and he started going when he was around two years old. But many kids get scared of the fire. If you have a young child who you think will be scared, you might want to hold him/her with his/her back pointed towards the grill so they wont see the flames. My favorite is the filet steak cooked medium rare and shrimp. I also like the scallops - its a gamble with scallops because its easy to cook them too long and then they become tough and chewy, but if cooked for the proper time, they are great. They also cook a variety of vegetables to go along with your entrée. My favorites are the mushrooms and zucchini. A couple things people dont know - if you want to try and eat a little healthier, you can substitute steamed rice for the fried rice, and they also have a vegetable plate. Also, and this is a pretty big money saver, you can order your entrée and order an extra plate rather than ordering two entrées (assuming you are there with another person). An extra plate costs around $9. With it, you get two soups and salads and two plates. Im assuming, with the extra plate order, you are supposed to basically split the amount of food you would get with just one entrée. However, weve always gotten the same amount of fried rice and veggies. You do get a little less of your main order - your meat and/or seafood - but honestly, you get almost the same as you do with two entrées. The main caveat is that you and your guest both have to want the same entrée. When my wife and I order one entrée and an extra plate, we always have lots of food left over to take home with us. Perhaps if you are a big eater, or dinning with one, you might want to get two entrées. But Ive rarely seen a person eat his/her entire entrée. If you have picky eaters, aka, kids, youll be glad to know that the hibachi chicken is great - sometimes it can be overcooked and then its not so good. There is also, located on the appetizer menu, an item called Age Chicken, its basically chicken nuggets. Side note - if you take some of your fried rice home (and whatever meat/seafood you ordered), a trick I learned that makes a huge difference when you reheat the food in the microwave, is to get a couple of paper towels and get them wet, squeeze out excess water, and cover your plate with the wet paper towel. It helps the food regain its moisture - if you just heat up the food like normal, it will probably taste pretty dry. Bonsai also has their own sauces they prepare daily. There is a yellow sauce that comes with your salad. But my favorite is the pink sauce. It has a slightly sweet flavor to it. Its great with the shrimp or scallops. What I do, and many people cant stand this, I get extra pink sauce and poor it over my entire entrée - the fried rice and whatever meat and/or seafood I ordered - and stir it all up. Lets see, Bonsai also has good Edamame, squid salad, and fried wontons.

To be quite honest, my initial experience with Bonsai was really good! I went to Bonsai once for a take away order. The quality and taste was good. However, later I took another look at my receipt and I discovered that I had been charged a surcharge of 10% over the total amount of my bill, before tax. I was confused and had no idea of what this surcharge was about. I figured it was a charge for Tip money. So I called the restaurant to find out more about this. It appears that, on take away orders, Bonsai is charging their customers this additional surcharge. When you actually eat at their restaurant, this surcharge is not incurred!!! So Bonsai is actually charging their customer a DISGUISED tip of 10% for every take away. And all this WITHOUT LETTING YOU KNOW THAT THEY DO THIS!! The lady told me that it is not considered a tip, but that it is actually a "surcharge", for material and such... She also mentioned that this money is divided among their people. So it IS a tip that THEY decide that YOU are going to pay and its masked as a surcharge. As far as Im concerned, its nothing else than THEFT!! This makes absolutely no sense at all and it is a lame excuse for a sneaky practice to make customers pay a tip without their intention to do so!! I am VERY pissed about this! This is the first time in my life that Ive come across a restaurant where it is actually cheaper to eat inside than to take away! I was planning on going back there for another take away, but after this discovery, they will NEVER receive ONE penny from me again! It is up to me and you, the customer.., whether we want to give them a tip, but Bonsai is NOT going to let you decide that. They apparently know that people leave less tips on take away orders than on when theyre dining inside. So now theyve found a way to make SURE theyll get it. For me its a Once and NEVER again experience!! Now you loose Bonsai!!

Had lunch today at this location. The food was wonderful as always, but the service by the person who took our order was less than stellar. She was too busy to listen to our request, even when I attempted to repeat it to her, she didnt listen. After she took our order, we didnt see her again until she brought the checks. Someone else delivered the wrong drinks, and had to go in search of the missing appetizer. This second waitress took care of us the rest of the time, never letting us run out of drinks. It was hard to leave a tip because the first waitress didnt earn it. I certainly hope tips are shared among the whole staff, the ones who actually performed the service.

This is my absolute favorite place to eat. We go every year for our anniversary. I have even been several times for lunch and you still get the same great service. The cooks at the hibachi grills are so talented and entertaining. I have never gotten a bad meal here. Whether your going for a special occasion or time with the family you will always enjoy the atmosphere and food.
