The cajun steamer was at one time a great New Orleans style food/cafe. Now the the prices have increased, the portions decreased and what they call a " meal for two" is only applicable if you have eaten before coming to the restaurant and only satisfies one person. Recently, the the food. portions, and service has been so inconsistent: that we requested our food bill be refunded .But giving the benefit of the doubt and hope of change, , we return. But it has only gotten worse. This was once one of my " go to" places to entertain but now it is a place that unless something changes drastically I stay away and would never recommend to anyone. Ford portions are NOT plentiful, even at its higher prices, that even my kids leave hungry. This is not acceptable. Seafood may be more expensive, but the deceit of what one is getting according to the menu, does not reflect this. I highly DO NOT recommend this place unless you have already eaten dinner, and this is an after meal treat. This is too bad too, since I often directed people to go there. NOT ANYMORE. Stay away until the menu meets its description and portions are " adult" size. I HOPE MANGEMENT READS THIS, because it unless something does change, this place will eventually be another restaurant.

Not really Cajun food (just because you put cayanne pepper on it doesnt make it Cajun), but it was good. The fish tasted fresh and was done very well, as was the shrimp. The fettuccine was good, though the sausage wasnt what Id associate with true Cajun. However, they are WAY overpriced for their portion sizes. SERIOUSLY OVERPRICED! For example, we payed $14 for the "big" stuffed shrimp appetizer and received six small fried balls of shrimp with stuffing. Then $19 for a small red snapper fillet, mediocre sauce, and three fried green tomato slices?!! No rice? Thats it? For $19?!! Not good enough to ever go back. Unless you dont mind spending way too much money for small portions and OK to good food in a dive bar (I thought it cool) scene, dont waste your time. However, if youre going there to drink, its definitely a place to check out! Folks are really friendly which is why Cajun Steamer is getting three stars instead of two.

We have been coming to Cajun Steamer for about a year now with a group of neighbors from Murfreesboro (30 minute drive). Sometimes its 6 of us, but other times it has been upwards of 12 or 14. I cant remember having a bad experience. The food is just phenomenal over and over. The chargrilled oysters, the tuna dip, the crab legs, crab cakes, voodoo chicken, crab claws, seafood casserole, bread pudding, etc. Fantastic every time. The last few times our waitresses have been exceptional. It gets pretty pricey for us with all the appetizers, but its worth it. Highly recommended. My personal favorite restaurant!

Had the Tallulah Platter, it was good, many of the Crawfish were broken or crushed and they were small but very flavorful. The boil used was good. The shrimp that came with it were fantastic and also very flavorful. The wait staff were attentive except for the fact that no one wanted to clear a plate from a table. I found that very weird. Id definitely try it again sometime. And for the record there was one person who it probably wasnt his job but hed taken on the duties and by end of night was all over it. Good man!!!

Sat out on the patio, flies were relentless. Water glasses has a slight fish aftertaste. Fried pickles were nice for an app. Had the catfish portatrain for my main dish and it was NOT good...I seriously am not the person to send food back, but this dish did not taste right at all. Spoke to the manager, she corrected the issue and I ordered a talapia dish, which was much better. I would only go back to this place to try the huge seafood platter they have, a boil of red shrimp, lobster, crab legs etc.

The wait staff is not very knowledgable about the menu. When I asked what kind of oysters were to be served, they did not know but were honest and asked someone who knew the answer. I was impressed by everyone on staff willing to pitch in, from the manager on down, to ensure that the customer is being served and satisfied. The food is very good, the atmosphere is very comfortable. If you want good food, reasonably priced, in a relaxed down home enviroment, this is a great place to experience.

Just very disappointing experience. The server was very nice but all of the food was a disappointment. I dont know why the cocktail sauce is gelatinous, but it was not good. The chargrilled oysters were dried up and lacking all flavor, they did not maintain the butter or water in the shell while grilling and so they were nothing in the end. Im pretty sure two of the oysters were near the end of their life because they were very sour and off flavored

Keep trying this place and they disappoint each time. Whether it is serving a full size poboy with less shrimp than the small poboy, or the beer I was served where the keg was messed up and I got a flat beer half filled with foam (still full price), to the unapologetic attitude they all have when things dont go right. I am used to Cool Springs arrogant attitudes, but this place is a bit worse than the rest.

Gf got mashed potatos, found a big piece of plastic. They offered to get her a new side, she told them she didnt want a new side, so they took of two dollars!? We complained a second time any they gave us a gift card, food was sub par, service sucked. Took forever to get our checks because the printer ran out of paper and they couldnt seem to find any.

Some corporate bean counter likes cajun (yes, an intentional lowercase) food and has formulated a place that serves adequate food. Staffed by first look cuties, there is a good variety of fish and vegetables that make this an adequate place. Like much of Nashville-a tad overpriced for what you are getting.

The young ladies who wait the tables here are great! Very nice Cajun vibe in this restaurant very close to lots of corporate buildings. Great place to cool off in the afternoon or evening. I love their po boys and jambalaya! Plenty of spices and seasoning kick in there! 5 stars

No no no. Thats not Cajun. Not even a little bit. The crawfish was so overpriced, the Etouffe had a blonde roux, the boudin was dry and crispy and had no spice whatsoever. Can i go on? Yah, i could. I guess this is what your get with illegals in the kitchen instead of Cajuns.

Me and my son recently ate dinner here on vacation. We sat outside and listened to a guy playing guitar and singing on a perfect Tennessee evening. Food was awesome, staff was awesome, the Cajun Steamer will be on our list of places to go everytime we are nearby!
