This is a review of the restaurant. Not the bar. And the number of dollar signs for the restaurant should be four. Not one. Lets set the expectation right: a visit to Bastion is going to be a culinary experience. Dont get a table; sit at the kitchen bar. Talk to the chefs and be amazed at their care in delivering aliquots of "foodie" brilliance. Without a doubt the quality of ingredients, preparation and delivery is beyond anything weve experienced in Nashville. Set aside any doubts that youll get enough to eat...although the servings are small, they keep coming. Whats so amazing is that the restaurant is so low key and laid back while knocking out world class cuisine. There is zero pretense or fakery. And every person who works there seems to have bought into some zealous passion for delivering the best food possible. Its the new church of food. Although I was skeptical at first, Im a convert.

I am a grad student at Belmont and was so disappointed in the service at this bar. The moment we walked in the bartenders were rude and didnt believe that our entire group (which was 22 or older) was 21. The blonde bartender specifically targeted us and took one of the girls IDs to the back because she didnt think it was real. I was also asked for my ID two separate times after I ordered my drink. The bartender then came back with the ID and said that she wouldnt accept it even though it was a legal ID and told my friend she wasnt allowed to even stay in the bar. Overall I was so disappointed in the way that everything was handled by the staff and especially one of the bartenders. From the moment we walked in it felt like we were not welcomed and that only showed itself more in the way they handled serving us drinks. I highly recommend avoiding this bar.

Usually this place is pretty packed, and with good reason. The atmosphere is very hip and cool, the drinks are well made and tasty. The only downside of this place ( and lot of others like it) is the price point. Drinks are just too expensive to make this a frequent after work or night out stop. Service is good and friendly and all other aspects are great. I have not tried the new Dinner side of the place so I cannot review it thoroughly.

Simply the Best. Regarding the Restaurant: Scrumptious. There is no other word to describe the cuisine - you will get shivers eating such delicious stuff. The environment is perfect: If you sit at a table your meal is served to you in classic ceramic serving platters, just as if you were having a family dinner at home; If you sit at the bar, you will be mesmerized watching the chefs hard at work. Highly recommend. And 100% worth the wait.

This review is for the restaurant not the bar. While the atmosphere and experience the staff create is fun the food is seriously lacking. The portion sizes were extremely small and were mediocre in taste. For the money they are charging ($$$$) it was an extremely disappointing experience. Everyone was so hungry afterward we had to get another dinner.

Start to finish, an absolutely delightful experience. From the unique space and menu to the attentive and engaging staff -- including those preparing the dishes -- Bastion provides an immersive experience that is ideal for special occasions. We celebrated an early anniversary there and enjoyed one of the best meals weve ever had. Highly recommended!

Easily the hottest new place in town. I remember when Midtown had this vibe, and I was sad to see the M-streetification of many of the places. Bastion has a downtempo vibe with that ambient atmosphere that just has the right amount of light, music, beers, and cocktails. I wish they had better little bites...the way Tavern did

Unsuspecting from the street and off the beaten path in the artsy Wedgewood Houston neighborhood. Its set up with split spaces between the bar and restaurant. Get reservations for the restaurant. Very nice interior and unique specialty cocktails with fresh ingredients. Strategic Hospitality owned, so its very well done.

In town for a few days and had a bartender from dinner the night before recommend Bastion. We took a shot on walking up for dinner and couldnt get in, but no disappointment because we sat at the bar and had some great cocktails and nachos. The atmosphere was great, as were the bartenders, along with the vinyls playing.

Food is only the beginning. Atmosphere and ambience is 10/10. Josh is talented beyond his age. Walking into the back bar brings on a timeless adventure. With music that takes you back and food that blows your mind, this place will change your culinary mindset on Nashville. A true time-warp into a recent memory.

I loved the choose your own tasting menu at the bar. Each of my choices were made based on not usually liking the dish thinking that at such a nice place with a good reputation that they could change my mind. I wasnt dissapointed and my tongue and roe were delecious.

Mediocre service. Long waits at the bar. Average drinks. Nachos however were delicious. Overall a decent place to get drinks with friends before you head somewhere more interesting. I would stick to straight liquor or beer, and avoid mediocre cocktails.

Fabulous atmosphere. Great drinks. It. Can be extremely crowded so be prepared to stand. If you want to go with a group I would suggest everyone arriving at the same time. It is very difficulty to reserve a seat for more than one person.

Too small. An interesting bar but not one you go if you are looking for a fun weekend. More a relaxed place to meet a friend for a drink. Drinks are expensive but strong, which I appreciate. But it is kind of in the middle of nowhere.

The punch of the day was really good, the drinks are expensive and well made. Decent selection of craft beers. The walls are cool, artsy and eclectic. The music is all from vinyl on a record player. Very hipster joint

Great atmosphere, suggested cocktail menu, and bartenders. Easy to have a conversation without shouting, yet full of life and customers. Drinks are $6 - $13. Arrive early for best seating.

Nice vibe. A bit packed on the weekends which detracts from the comfort of the place. Great nachos late night!

Why so secretive? Just open a damn bar with your vintage decor and games without turning it into a big game.
