Okay, where to start? This place is so good that it should be put on the official map of South Carolina. The hell with BarBQ, this is the stuff to drive here for. El Jeffe, just like it says. You dont know spanish, look at the pictures on the wall. The owner, an artist with marinades, will talk you through all the options that they present. Look at the reviews, the next time I am going for the beef tongue tacos. Please support this place, it is good food, it is family run, and it is not your typical Tex-Mex food.

I am hard to impress with "Mexican" restaurants. This place goes way beyond the normal "Tex-Mex" mediocrity that passes for Mexican food. Go in, talk to the owner, he is a gregarious individual. Trust him and his pictures. I dont care, point your finger anywhere on the menu and you cant miss. Addendum: 04/28/2017 Had the lengua tacos and carnitas burrito. Both show an appreciation for the proper preparation that good food should enjoy. All I can say is go here, eat here and you will know what I am saying.

Get the eponymous dish for two people and close your eyes as you chew: you will think you are in Mexico! The meat and shrimp are of the best quality, the tortillas are handmade, and the cheese is delicious. Do not be deterred by the fact that their margaritas are made with Chardonnay (they just have a beer and wine license) or by their location in a not very attractive strip mall - it is one of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever eaten at. They just dont have the time for pretense!

Every single time I come here I receive great service, awesome food, and delicious drinks. The staff is very friendly, the owner is very involved, and the staff is very prompt and attentive. The food is always made fast and delicious. Their tacos, tortas, and quesadillas are amazing, not to mention their homemade guacamole kills it every time and their salsa is on point!! Hands down my favorite mexican food in the area.

Though this place is easy to pass by due to its location and unassuming appearance any fan of Mexican and/or Tex-Mex food will be well rewarded for choosing to eat at El Molcajete. The flavor and complexity of their sauces and salsas are beyond any other in the greater Charlotte area. On top of that they treat you as if youre a guest in their home. I have to pinch myself every time we eat there.

My wife and I are always checking out Colombian/ Mexican restaurants to find our favorite local places. And coming from Colombian and Mexican families, Hispanic food has always been our comfort food. I had their Camarones a la Diabla and really enjoyed it. My wife had their Carne Asada and loved it. This place is a contender for our favorite spot for Hispanic food.

Okay so this place is legit! When we went in we were greeted by friendly staff and they took our orders right away! The food was amazing and the service was great. Will definitely be making this a regular spot! We were already planning on what we wanted to try next time. Looking forward to our next visit.

Being from Colorado we miss authentic Mexican food. Tequila is pretty dang good... but El Molcajete is the closest thing to authentic Mexican you will EVER see in Rock Hill, SC!!!
