Iama Critic Rating - Trio Brick Oven Cafe - 3 stars 22 North Main Street, Greenville, SC Overall: With just a little effort Trio Brick Oven Cafe could be great! But right now they are just average. Trios Table Bread - 4 stars What a delight this crusty lump was! Covered with cheese, which I have never seen before, and served on top of a slight amount of olive oil. And it came with the sexiest knife I have ever seen in a restaurant! The knife was just fabulous and wicked sharp. It made me just want to stab something. Like this awesome bread. $9.95 Trio Asian Salad with Chicken - 4 stars For and extra buck you can exchange the chicken for shrimp. The salad is prepared with spring mix, carrots, tomatoes and onions topped with linguine pasta and sesame ginger vinaigrette. There is very little chicken on this expensive salad, no more than two ounces or so. Nevertheless the salad is well stocked with a variety of tasty veggies. But the vinaigrette makes this salad. It is very thick and filled with the scent of sesame. I thought I recognized the flavor as a marinade I had at home and sure enough it taste almost identical. Good stuff, great salad, but this salad loses a star for lack of chicken. $4.75 large bowl of chili - 3 stars What is it lately with restaurant serving these HUGE but extremely shallow bowls. I was served a similar bowl at Ruby Tuesday! First, if you are going to serve the bowl so sloppy, and randomly littered with garnish, you entirely screw up the presentation of the bowl. Second, we customer are not fooled, we know that a HUGE bowl that is only half an inch deep equals very little chili that cools off too fast. Now about the chili itself. I just got back from a state chili tournament where there were some 30 chilies. I would say that Trios chili is interestingly different, and probably better than half the chilies at the tournament, but I would not put it in the top 20%. I like Chilis chili better. And if you are looking for heat, forget it, there is none. $9.95 Trio Calzone - 3 stars A calzone with sweet fennel sausage, sauteed peppers, onions and mushrooms with goat cheese. The calzone itself is gorgeous but it is mostly empty, with a full 2" rim around the entire calzone. The filling is surprisingly bland and dry with no sauce or moisture. What a shame as this entree has the potential to be phenomenal, but not tonight. To see 5 Star Restaurant Reviews entire pictorial review on Facebook. I agree with some reviewers stating this restaurant is truly underrated in Yelp. This restaurants food is delicious!!! The place has a tasteful rustic atmosphere/decoration and a diversified menu. We ate there in a couple of occasions and we asked for the Tomato Basil Soup, Potato Soup, Spicy Shrimp & Scallops, Chicken Parmigiana, BBQ Chicken Pizza and the Toll House Cookie for dessert. Everything tasted delicious and was exceptionally cooked, except for the Spicy Shrimp & Scallops which only needed a tad of salt. Personally, I can not recommend the Tomato Basil soup enough to everyone - it was amazing! Creamy, rich in taste and texture was my favorite dish by far and, in cold days it sure can make a warm happy belly. I highly recommend this place and no, Im not endorsing it nor getting paid to do marketing. We were stuck in Greenville due to a snow storm and we happened to ran into this restaurant. If youre visiting Downtown Greenville and are unsure which place to choose from its many restaurants, I invite you to give Trio a chance, you wont regret it. Just be aware, it can get busy fast, especially during the weekends because the word is out this place is really good! ;) P.S. Reading other reviews regarding the noise in this place. Yes, its noisy and can get really crowed on the weekends, the place its not too big which doesnt help with the noise level but, hey, its local, its downtown and its that good the wait sometimes its up to 30 minutes so, get there early people and stop complaining! ;P

My girlfriend and I went here twice on our weekend get away. Once for lunch, then for dinner the next day. We stumbled in during a rainshower for lunch on July 4th and everything was amazing (except for the Lobster Bisque appetizer, skip that one). I ordered a Salmon wrap, and she ordered a Calzone and both were excellent. Lizzy was our server and she was awesome! The next night, we couldnt decide where to go for dinner and we were starving so we just went back to Trio. It was packed but our server (tall, male, longer hair) was awesome. He spoke to us as if we were friends, even though we could tell he was running his tail off. I can not say more about how amazing this place was. I ordered the meat lasagna and my girlfriend ordered the linguini meatball pasta and both were delicious and incredibly large portions for only about 15 bucks. I usually clean my plates but this time I could only eat about half. We also got the Feta dip appetizer and holy cow was it good (about 8 bucks). The design was interesting, the wait staff was friendly and quick and the food was great. Even waiters from other tables stopped by to check on us. Clearly, this place is a team. Recommended for sure.

My husband and I really enjoy Trio. We had Todd for our waiter and he was so personable. I had the Ahi tuna and I did not want to have it raw in the middle even though it is the traditional way or the right way to cook Ahi. I like sushi but not with Ahi tuna. I ask Todd to to have it cooked medium with a little pink in the middle and it was perfectly cooked. He kept an eye on it as it was cooking to make sure the chef doesn’t overcook it. My husband had a ravioli dish, don’t remember which one exactly but I tasted it and it was delicious and he really liked it too. I am a great cook myself (my husband, daughters and friends say so) and know good food and this was really good food. We liked our waiter because he was funny and interesting and even though the place was busy we did not feel rush and he was not stress, he was calm and took the time to talk to us. It’s a place that’s kind of loud when full but like Todd says it forces you to cuddle closer together with the people you are with.(not his exact words but something like that) which was a good answer, I did not mind cuddle up with my husband and the positive outweigh the negative.

I was really looking forward to trying this place, but I was pretty disappointed. The Good: My husbands pizza, the buffalo wing pizza, was great. They had the option for gluten free pasta for my kiddos, and the garlic Parmesan bread was incredible. They were good about immediately removing a soup from my check when I said I didnt care for it. The Bad: The ranch dressing tasted like Hidden Valley Ranch, and the lobster bisque tasted like Campbells. I sent back the soup. The food took over 30 minutes to come out. The Ugly: Our server, very personable, somehow could not manage to bring our check. Long after he had cleared the plates, brought boxes, and confirmed that yes, we were done, he was wandering around the restaurant, flirting with the waitresses, and generally seeming totally distracted. At this point the restaurant was pretty dead. Meanwhile, we were sitting with three small kids who had been sitting in a restaurant for 1.5 hours. After over 20 minutes of sitting at a cleared table with antsy kids, I finally asked for a manager. It didnt take him long to bring the check then. We will not be back.
