2 reviews 1.0 star rating 7/5/2017 If it was possible to give this place negative stars I would. We arrived on a Sunday evening around 6 pm for dinner. The place empty with only 2 tables occupied. Once table got up and left as we were being seated. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server came and took drink orders which were 3 ice waters and sweet tea. She returned with the drinks promptly and then took our food orders. She also let us know she was a new server. That should have been read flag along with an empty restaurant on a busy beach weekend. We started waiting for food and after a 10-minute wait and two people came in and were seated, then followed by a table of 4 people who were seated directly behind us. Their order was taken by the same server. In the meantime, another two tables of four, a table of 6 and a table of 8 came in. The table of 4 and 6 got drinks. The table if 8 were sitting and had not been greeted by the server. We continued to wait. After a total wait of 30 plus minutes, the server brings food to the table directly behind us. But we were their first and had no food. The table of four at the far end away from us she then moved down to bring them their food. She never one returned to check on us. The table of 8 started commenting why the had not even greeted. During this wait, the manager Linda, came out and walk right up to our table and looked around and walked away. She never asked if anyone needed anything. At this point, we have been waiting an hour with no food and no explanation as to why it was taking so long. I went and asked to speak with the manager and the hostess called for the manager. Linda the manager walk toward me and I told her that we have been waiting an hour for food and other tables that had been seated long after us had food. I was not waiting any longer and I was not paying for the glass of ice tea. Our table of 4 was leaving. She looked at me with an I dont care attitude and flippantly said "OK, Im sorry" then turned around on her heels and walked away. We left and went to the Savannah highway located and were seated quickly our food arrived quickly and was perfect. Our server was attentive and on point. After coming home I did a little research to learn this pattern of behavior at this store seems to be normal. There are many negative reviews on Google and Yelp about this poor service, horrid attitudes on the management and poor food quality. Dont go here...you will waste your time and money. There are plenty of other places nearby to eat and the Savannah Highway IHOP is a few minutes farther to drive if you must have IHOP. There is a reason a popular restaurant is empty on a Sunday afternoon around 6 pm. Its because they suck.

This place has gone way down. Went there for the last several years and had absolutely no issues. That is until this year. We come to Charleston for vacation 2-3 times a year a always eat here. Well, on our first attempt here this past Monday, we walked up and I requested a table for 4. The lady up front said that it would be about 5 minutes. We had 3 groups in front of us with each having less people to be seated. Less than 5 minutes, we were seated. Awesome, I thought since we were going for a brunch. There may have been 10 groups of people in the entire restaurant seated. 45 minutes later and we still didnt even have our drink order taken. The waitress was only attending to one group of people in he section which consisted of 9 people that were all eating which should have left her with enough time to attend to her other guests. She didnt and disappeared into the kitchen never to be seen again. I told my wife and kids that we were leaving. As we got up a bus boy walked out of the kitchen and asked if we were leaving and I explained to him that no one showed up to help us. He looked discusted and turned away as we walked out. Well, I didnt learn from our first attempt at a late breakfast, but I did from our second attempt this week because we all were wanting IHOP. We went back Thursday hoping for a better result. We did get to eat this time but still spent over 80 minutes before we got our meals. Cold eggs, terrible service by the waitress, 6 tables just in the center section needing to be cleaned of dirty dishes. A young man came from the back with another following him. The first one out came out and started bussing the tables and my wife and I overheard some of the conversation Gerald, the one cleaning, told the other guy " Im off but Im trying to help the others up here get caught up." The other one said " but man Im tired of washing dishes." What a joke. There was not one person taking dirty dishes back to the kitchen for the time we sat there except for this Gerald guy. Kudos to him for trying to do the right thing. Until management is changed here, I will no longer eat at this IHOP. I will travel to another several miles out of my way or take my business elsewhere altogether. Gerald, if you see this, get out, before they drag you down. I could tell by your attitude and the care that you showed, you are striving for something better in life. Go out and get it with the same gumption you showed me Thursday. Oh, one more thing, our waitress had a head of braided hair that was way too long and hanging out for her to be serving food for any company. Wish I could have given less than 1 star

I was so excited for A new IHOP on the island. Until my wife and I visited one time a few months ago and let me be blunt, it was absolute crap. I mean, just horrid. There were egg pieces floating in my water, the silverware was DIRTY, my table was sticky and my waitress... Dont even get me started. First visit was disgusting. We went a second time just to give it another chance. It was worst than the first. The AC was broken. Not a big deal but still sucked. We were seated by our waitress and then didnt see her after that. 15 minutes later, we just decided to leave. I told the waitress that the place sucked and even she agreed! We went one last time. We didnt want to believe that this IHOP was as bad as it is. We were very wrong. We were seated, and actually got our drinks when we ordered them. Placed our order and waited... And waited... And waited (not a single refill was given this day). 45 minutes later, our food came out... Cold, over cooked, and just god awful. I was livid. I asked for the manager. 10 minutes passes with no sign of a manager. I had to ask again to speak with the manager. He finally came. To be honest, the manager was decent. He offered to make our food again, but it just wasnt enough to make us stay. Staff is rude and condescending. Its not my fault you applied to work there. I will never in my life go to this IHOP again. I would much rather go to the IHOP on Savannah highway. The difference is night and day. If youre looking for an honest and fair review, this is the one. Ive been three different times and I can confirm that it is horrible.
