On Saturday, April 21st, after hearing good things about the food, I decided to bring my family to the restaurant. After we entered, my wife, two young daughters and myself waited just over 5 minutes before any of the staff even acknowledged us, despite 3 different waitresses seeing us. When we were greeted, it was with a waitress simply asking us, "Are you all set?" Not a friendly "hello" or "could I help you." I told her we would like a table and she told us there was one over in the corner. I led my family to the table. As we sat down, one of my daughters sat in a pool of maple syrup and her hair, which was long enough to touch the table, also got syrup stuck in it. Despite the table being filthy, our waitress proceeded to place 4 placemats, menus, and utensils down, while not saying a word to us. After cleaning up my daughter and using napkins to clean up the table myself, my family then waited over 10 minutes. During this time, no waitress came over to take our order or bring us drinks. I decided my family had waited long enough having received only rude service (when receiving any service AT ALL!) This sort of experience should be considered UNACCEPTABLE. My family and I will not be going to that diner again.

Good basic, hearty diner food, served promptly by friendly waitstaff. Very affordable. Check out Tuesday special: Two dinners for $15.95, including soup AND salad, with about 8-10 entrees to choose from. This is way more food than I can eat; I always bring home enough for another meal. Smaller specials are offered daily, perfect for children and light eaters. Mikes homemade Greek style rice pudding is to die for. The diner is no longer open 24 hours. They close at 8 pm during the winter. Id give it five stars if not for two small caveats: Meatloaf too salty for my taste, and I dont like the chowder because it has other fish along with clams (Im extremely fussy). I eat there about once a week. BTW, most bad reviews are from a period when the diner was in transition, before the present owner, Mike, took over. He runs a good restaurant. Weve been following him around the state for years!

A little gem of a restaurant with an appropriate name. My family and I stopped in for breakfast yesterday and I have to say the food was very good and they gave you many choices when it came to what kind of bread you wanted as toast- there had to be like 5 different kinds of bread. Instead of the home fries you could choose other things also. It was nice to have so many choices!! The prices were fantastic also- cant remember when I paid so little for a delicious breakfast. The place was busy but I can understand why. After reading some of the reviews we did not know what to expect since they were so mixed. No complaints here though it was well worth it!!

While not amazing, the food was good and service provided in such a small area is a feat in and of itself. There is a creamery that shares a parking lot and compliments the restaurant well although I think theres a bit of a rivalry between the two. It was nice to know that small town living exists everywhere in the country and was a welcome change after driving through the densely populated Northeast. At the time of my visit, Google described Pizza as something offered at the diner. It is not, expect your typical American fare: burgers, fries, hot dogs, steaks, mozzarella sticks, etc

This place is great! Stopped here while passing through on I-95 - its a quick hop on/off the highway. Very friendly & attentive staff, good & filling food, and inexpensive! Dont be put off by the other posts (on Yelp) describing the customers as redneck. Yes, this is a local place, but we were warmly welcomed by the wait staff and the customers were jovial and friendly. Well be making this a regular stop the next time were in the middle of Rhode Islands Nowhere.

Its this simple folks. Want really good home style food? Then here it is. The portions are sometimes a bit larger than I can even finish. This still doesnt take away from the quality of the food and friendly service. When I was a kid this place was originally called "Allyns Patio" in the late 50s early sixties. Kind of a drive in hamburger and shake joint with fried clams tossed in. Nice to see the old girl is not only alive under another name but so successful.

About two or three times a year, I stop at Middle of Nowhere Diner as I drive from Torrington CT to Mattapoisett MA on my vacation. The food and the service are consistently very good. This is a homey, casual diner with a large menu, and the food never disappoints. You can even eat outside on a picnic table when the weather is good (but there is a week in spring when the caterpillars descend, so be warned). Clean and affordable - definitely worth a stop.

Great food, great service, great prices. The staff is friendly and they are good at their jobs. Theyve never messed up my order, they accommodate picky children. If I could take off half a star it would be for the flies they get in the summer and the wait if you go later than 8:00 in the morning. I like to get there by 7 to avoid the crowds. Other than those two little issues, this is one of my favorite breakfast spots. ☺

This is the best place around to get breakfast. I live about 15 minutes away and have to pass 2 breakfast places on my way here but I pass them because of the quality of this place. The portions are generous and the prices are cheap. This out of the way spot is a favorite among locals. Definately worth going out of your way for. They make a mean fish and chips and clamcakes as well if you are in the mood for lunch.

Ive been coming to middle of nowhere for 11 years now. its a true old time diner. wait staff are friendly firecrackers, making you feel like long lost family. the food is fresh and well cooked wI think the kind of love and attention that youd get at a family dinner. in all my years coming Ive yet to get a meal I didnt like. and I can walk out full and pleased with left overs each time.

An amazing diner. Need some minor fixer uppers, ceilings need to be dusted and vents need to be cleaned. Overall the food was amazing deff tasted fresh like everything was cherry picked from a farm. Everything was seasoned to the perfect amount and it was and amazing experience. The drive was no joke this diner is literally in the middle of no where hahaha. Enjoy your time as I did!

Out for a drive. Too early for my first pick so just kept going and after passing up several places, ran into this one. Getting late so we stopped and was satisfied that we did. Food was above average and plentiful at the right price. Service was good but the truck stop "honey" was over the top. Yes, wed go back.
