It is too much to even give this place a one star rating, but I had to. I went to this giant eagle to purchase a few small items, and when I got home I noticed that every one of them was expired and the bread was moldy, so I went back to the store to return them. I was actually more than willing to exchange those items and pick fresh items the same price. The people at the what is supposed to be customer service desk were extremely rude to me because I did not have an advantage card. The irony is that the man in front of me was returning a pair of pantyhose with no receipt simply because his wife "did not want them". I asked them why they made the return to him and they told me because he comes to their store frequently. I just moved in the area and I think my being a new customer is just as important as a frequent customer. Not wanting pantyhose over moldy black and green bread that your store failed to take off the shelf???? For last minute late night purchases, you are better off to go to rite aid on Murray Avenue. And to grocery shop, there is so much variety in the area,, no one needs this hole in the wall with untrained staff. I will shop at Whole Foods like I have been and again supplement late night purchases at rite aid, they have all the basics. They did not even make a simple apology....... please train your staff on the basics, there is nothing cute about rude people.

Hi During the last few months, I was "out of sorts" meaning I was prescribed by a new physician, the wrong medicine for my emotional issues. After a stay in the hospital, I am now on the correct medicine and feel good. I am writing this because I gave a scathing critical review of Angie the pharmacist a few months ago. As I look back Angie was only trying to be professional, courteous, and compassionate. Angie was working this morning and I saw with my own eyes and ears that she is and has been professional, courteous and compassionate all through her tenure at Giant Eagle and with that I will continue to have my prescriptions filled in Giant Earle Squirrel Hill.

Certainly not a market district Giant Eagle, and no extra elements like a cafe or beer section; however you can get the essentials here and a good option for Kosher products. Overall, this Giant Eagle would have been considered one of the nicer ones a decade ago. Its layout is mostly traditional. It is clean and well stocked. The produce and bakery sections are good. No section is very expansive, with none of the perks you get at regular market district Giant Eagles, like the one in North Oakland, or the large Market District Giant Eagles, like the ones in Robinson or the South Hills

Vegetarian with an interest in healthy eating here. Theyre open later than the Greenfield/Murray Ave Giant Eagle (1am instead of 12am), and recently theyve been really expanding their vegetarian and organic sections. Ive seen a few Gardein vegetarian proteins (which are pretty great, and not as artificial as some other options - Ive served them to a number of omnivores who enjoyed them) here before I saw them at East End Food Co-op.

Im new to Pitt and have been to Giant Eagle twice. On both occasions Ive met incredibly rude staff, including a guy in the meat department who got upset when i tried to describe the item that I was looking. He thought i was insulting his intelligence. Ill drive over to the pricier Whole Foods for the better service. I am avoiding Giant Eagle from now on. Im finding it hard to believe this place is getting five star reviews.

This store is one of the smaller giant eagles. However, the produce section is the best among all giant eagles I have visited. Everything is fresh and does not go to waste once you have bought it. Comparing to Giant Eagle in Shadyside Market District which I also frequent regularly, this one is a lot better for shopping all the daily essentials. Service could be a bit better.

I hate shopping here, and only go when Im out of food, and dont have time to go somewhere else. I dont know why this one is so bad, the other locations are fine. A lot of the staff seems to think that they are too good to work there? Who knows? Really rude staff. My last choice, especially considering that there are three other places in the neighborhood that are great.

The location is a small urban location so you cant always get everything that a larger location may have. That being said, this is a great store. The bakery is kosher that caters to the large Jewish population of Squirrel Hill. Most of the staff has been there for years and they are fantastic. It is a clean store with plenty of parking.

Dishonest pricing and advertising. They advertise one "Offer of the Week" thru their eAdvantage membership, which I am signed up for and it is connected to my card. They go ahead and charge the regular price anyway. "Card users pay ... " Ill try again next week, and contact the BBB if it keeps happening.

I get the majority of my groceries here. The selection is a bit smaller than a supermarket would be, but there is always parking available, which is saying a lot for S. Hill. The deli is good, and the kosher chocolate sprinkle thumbprint cookies are the best in the entire Giant Eagle franchise.

It is much smaller than most Giant Eagles because of its location. The variety is limited because of its size but that is typical of urban stores. Pharmacy and meat staff are awesome Warning!!!: the bakery is kosher and the items DO taste different even if some people try to say otherwise.

I go here because its close to my home and I really like having a grocery store nearby so I support them. But they are smaller and do not carry the variety of most Giant Eagles. They do carry a large selection of Kosher items and have plenty of parking in the lot behind them.

Very convenient. If you want beer and liquor, there are shops literally across the street. Main drawbacks: many "trendy" items are not consistently in stock (like fage yogurt) and cashiers are racially insensitive to the many pan-Asian students. (Perhaps unintentional?)

Lacking in selection; this is a neighborhood grocery store in a small space. If you are doing major-league shopping you want a bigger store, e.g., Shakespeare St. But very convenient if you live in Squirrel Hill or nearby.

I loved that this giant eagle is open until 1am. Working second shift it was super convent to stop on the way home afterwards. Lots of off street parking, redbox, and security that will escort you to your car if needed

Most of the employees are lovely people who just want to help but the store is too small for the variety it is trying to carry. So the aisles are crowded and confusing and there are too many people.
