Outstanding meal in a casual, rustic setting with friendly, attentive, but not obtrusive service. Were it a little less noisy, it would have been 5-stars. Portions are generous, and ingredients are fresh and flavorful. Our table had the family-style appetizer - fried and grilled calamari plus antipasto - which was excellent. Entrees included veal parmigiana in marinara, gnocchi con asparagi in a garlic cream, and seafood papardelle in a brandied blush sauce. Desserts are wonderful, and also available family-style so the table can enjoy bits of everything. Prices are reasonable by Old City standards - under $200 for dinner for four with wine.

Food was pretty good, but not great. Chicken was a little dry. Canoli was one of the best I have ever had. Tried the tartufo and it was also a good choice. Service was sadly lacking, even though it was practically empty early on a Saturday evening. Our server, Cosmin(?), was arrogant. Looks like he has been in the business for some time, but personally having worked in customer service for a quarter century I can say he is one person who should not be in the industry. The whole staff was pretty apathetic. The chef was standing in front of the hot line, leaning on the line and B.S.ing with staff.

My familys experience at this restaurant was negative from beginning to end. The hostess wouldnt let us bring in our baby stroller although other families were allowed to. The hostess didnt walk us to our table, just merely pointed to it and told us we can sit there, while she took another family directly to their table. After we ordered we overheard our waiter explaining the specials to the next table, but he had never mentioned a single one to us. The food was bland and tasteless. I want to mention that we were the only family with black people. I will never return to this establishment.

Sad example of quality and care of food and patrons. The music was terribly loud we could not hear the waitress describe the specials. My polenta with mushrooms had mushroom soil in it. We were offered a substitution but we declined yet still charged for it! The gnocchi with gorgonzola was lovely but our salmon dish as well as the arugila salad was mediocre. We will not return. And we warn people not to bother going there either. Went to another restaurant afterwards.

Strictly by the numbers, strictly average, bland pseudo-"Italian" American crap food, served barely warm by Mexicans (never a good sign for a restaurant business that strives to be authentic). Judging by the time it took to "prepare" both the soup and the veal entree, everything sits there already prepared, and is just re-heated for customers. The only saving grace was Moretti beer - but I dont need a restaurant to have that. Nothing to see here - avoid.

Very good food! Parking right next door is a little expensive ($15) but if you really dont want to pay you can find parking elsewhere. A little cramped but the food makes up for it. Theres a private room and 2 different public rooms. You can see into the kitchen which is cool because you can see your food being made. Id highly recommend visiting harbor park which is right across the street after your dinner for some beautiful views.

First time here - today at lunch. Its in a quiet location in town, on Front Street facing Penns Landing. The fresh bread, olive oil, and vegetables for topping were delicious. The grilled calamari and the grilled chicken Panini were tops. The servers were professional and friendly. There was no wait at all. Prices were great. Ill be back here again. They had a full menu for lunch service. I want to come back and try the pasta.

Right from the beginning you feel welcome. The ambiance is excellent and the wait staff knows what they are doing. They can pair wines and entrees perfectly. The food is amazing and the portion are plentiful unlike a lot of fancy restaurants. I highly recommend getting and appetizer and dessert even if it means taking some of the entree home for later. Overall a great experience for a reasonable price.

Best restaurant in Philly. I cannot begin to describe how good my experience has been with Spasso. First, the food is all custom and fresh. It is top-of-the-line quality. Second, the service is phenomenal. If they make a mistake, they fix it and make up for it. Third, this is a hidden hole-in-the-wall. Theres almost never a wait. Worth checking out, but ssshhh.

Hated the whole experience..the service is poor and the staff inefficient. Go to many other wonderful restaurants before eating here. Besides if you even think of mentioning something you dont like they tell you that the customer is not always right. And never go with a large party as surely you will not be able to check and get fleeced by extra items they charge.

The food was just average and the service was slow. We had our company Christmas party there. The waitress mixed up two glasses of wine she brought out, which is perfectly acceptable. But both women receiving the wines took a sip and said it wasnt right and the waitress simply switched their glasses... after they had drank out of them. That is... not ok.

The food portions were extremely fair ( the mussels alone were over flowing, and tasty). The taste was wonderful. And with an appetizer and entree (veal porcini is to die for) split between my girlfriend and I our bill still was a little over $30, with tip. Definitely would recomend. Excellent staff and service

Got there for happy hour just before the storm hit tonight and had a good time watching the skies over the river from the lounge windows. Happy hour snacks are all simple and enjoyable, as are the drinks. The bartender was really welcoming and friendly and wed definitely stop in again next time were in town.

Fantastic Italian food and a nice atmosphere. The staff is very attentive and accommodating. Prices are good for what you get. This place is NOT, as some other reviews have said, a BYOB. Im not sure if it used to be or what but now it has a full bar. The wine by the bottle prices are REALLY good though.

You know its good when youre writing the review before getting your check. So hearty and perfectly al dente pasta. I highly recommend the pappardelle porcini. The perfect example of how to use a simple ingredient like black pepper. Ok Im done. Making myself hungry again and the kitchen just closed. Ciao!

For me, this is the BEST italian food Ive had. From the appetizer to the bread to the main entree, we savored every bite. The portion was large enough for leftovers. And the leftovers were just as delicious. I am not a huge Italian food fan but Spasso has made a fan out of me.

One of the best Italian restaurants in the city! It may appear pricy but you definitely get what you pay for. I recommend the mussels or the fried calamari if you like seafood. Great wine selection (and some beer too) and desserts to boot. Definitely try the tiramisu.

One of the better American Italian restaurants Ive been to in my life. The pasta was certainly made that day. Everything at the table was as good as one would expect from a great restaurant. It can get a bit noisy.

One of a few locations in the Philly area serving up home made pastas and delicious cocktails. A nice, upscale restaurant with incredible Italian dishes. Nice place to take the folks if they are in town for a visit.
