Can I rave about Martha for a second? I had heard a lot of hype about this place, and I knew that it was owned and run by one of the nicest bartenders in town, but Martha completely exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy, the services is really good, and the food is outstanding. They host great events with local farms, highlight their local independent vendors, and just generally care so much about both what they serve and who they serve it to. While my friends and I were waiting for our food, servers were coming around offering complimentary appetizers (which were delicious but not on the menu, maybe they were trying out new things?) and later brought us a bowl of the most delicious savory popcorn Id ever had. This place is interesting and progressive without being obnoxious. Hoagies! They serve AMAZING hoagies! If that doesnt say unpretentious greatness, I dont know what does. Half way through the night my friend said, "I want to live here." and we all agreed.

Everything was terrible. The food was awful, had a bunch of people with us, we all ordered various things: Fancy toast, three types of cheese, pickle boat, meat platter, all of it super tiny expensive portions of disgusting food. Beer served in smaller, non-pint glasses. Atmosphere was bad, some bearded waiter just walked around the place looking pissy all night. End of the night was a debacle as the check system cant handle a large party splitting checks, everyone got printed out a receipt as long as their arm with everyone elses credit card info on it including their own as confusion ensued for twenty minutes as we tried to figure out with the waitress, how to pay the stupid check. You can do better than this, avoid at all costs.

This cozy Kensington gastropub is one of the best spots in the city for craft beer, wine, and cocktails. Martha enthusiastically supports small, independent, regional breweries, wineries, and distilleries which are prominently featured on the menu. The fare is inspired, eclectic, and always tasty, with new items regularly rotated through. There are plenty of vegan and gluten free options as well. From the outdoor patio/ beer garden to the indoor loft and fireplace, Martha has created a space and welcoming atmosphere that you will want to be a part of.

I love this place. I live two blocks away and was so happy when a non-seedy bar opened in my hood. I love Lost Bar, but it gets insanely packed, even on weekdays, and you really cant beat the outdoor area with a great vibe that Martha provides. Ive met the owner and most of the staff and theyre all great people who are extremely friendly and who provide great service. If you find yourself on the less bourgeois side of Frankford, Martha is a must!

Simple food. No hood so nothing is fried or baked. But the hoagies are great, all the food ingredients are locally sourced. Beer list is always solid, again lots of local stuff. If you enjoy liquor or mixed drinks you can come here and taste somthing from nearly every local distillery. It is off the beaten path and that makes it even more fun.

This place rocks. Awesome local beer menu and even better local spirit menu. All of their cocktails and spirit selection are local, only place I know of like that. Food is all on point and compliments the drinks. Doesnt get much better of a place to kick back then this. If you havent tried, well worth the trip.
