You will notice that many of these positive reviews are old. This is likely because Marathon changed their menu and not only increased their prices, but took BELOVED dishes off the menu, like their signature chocolate chip cookie dough pancakes. When I arrived with my friend for brunch, I had been touting these pancakes all week, only to find that "they are no longer served." When I asked why, they said they changed their menu, and they wouldnt be returning. This makes no sense to me: I am definitely not the only one who loved these. So after my dismay, I ordered the french toast--a standby that any brunch place should be able to do. It was just awful. My husband wouldnt even finish it and he eats anything. It literally tasted like a piece of bread that had been heated. Then the bill came, and it was over $50 for three people to eat breakfast! Which is when I realized, they had hiked their prices along with their new (read: bad) menu. Skip this place. They shouldnt have changed a good thing that they had.

Tl;dr: would recommend for the casual dinner. So I come here a lot. I live nearby and more often than not if I dont have all the groceries I need at home to make a meal, Ill come here. All the food is decent. Good. Solid. Contemporary American dining with no apparent flaws. Nothing extravagant but all well valued and flavored. At this particular location of marathon, Ive been delighted to come to know some of the staff. Theyve been hilariously helpful in picking great drinks and generally awesome even about getting quick food when I need it.

There were 8 of us for dinner Thursday night and 4 ordered short rib ragu and papperadelli. The pasta was topped by dry meat with no sauce from the braising to make the ragu. We asked for some sauce and were told that there was none. Instead, we were given a ramekin of brown gravy that tasted like it was from a mix. All in all, it was less than stellar. I have eaten at Marathon before and have never had this kind of meal.

This place was a pleasant surprise for me. I have friends who live in Philly and they took me here for brunch, raving about it. It certainly lived up to my expectations. Coffee was good, which I honestly cant say about too many places. I ordered the Applewood Bacon & Swiss omelette which was perfect. Just the right amount of bacon, and cheesy in a good way. It comes with home fries and toast. Great meal for under $15

On my birthday (Nov 3) I decided to take my son and I for a lunch at this restaurant. We both were very disappointed. It took 28 minutes for our food to arrive. When our food did arrived my son found hair in his french fries. The quinoa and kale salad was not good, it was tasteless. If my son who loves to eat came home and said this restaurant was bad then it was bad. I received no complimentary dishes nor a discount.

Great food, service, and atmosphere. Marathon sampler was good, interesting dipping sauces really made it. Chicken Cobb salad was great, tasted really fresh and had a great ratio of toppings to greens. Girlfriends marathon burger was too delicious looking not to steal a bite (did not disappoint). Blueberry pie Alamode was a great way to finish. Mostly blueberries, good quality ice cream.

Never need a reservation and the prices are pretty good for the food you get. I dig the burger and the breakfast selections, havent had much else as this place seems a little casual for a nice dinner. An easy, convenient place to eat. Seems very dog friendly and the wait staff ladies are usually real purty.

Cant really go wrong with this place. The food is always going to be pretty good and unfortunately the service is usually just a little lacking. But everything is reasonably priced & you get what youre paying for. You can usually find families with some small kids there all of the time.

Because I live less than a block from here, I have tried to like this restaurant SO much. After 5 tries, I have had the same complaint every time. The service is HORRIBLE. I have sat for 20 minutes without seeing a server or getting a drink. Great atmosphere, terrible service.

Came for brunch and enjoyed the yogurt parfait... Had to request strawberries after that were supposed to be in the dish but it was tasty! Egg omelette was tasty and they were accommodating to any changes or substitutions. Would definitely come back.

This place always does a bad job of giving us what we order. One time we ordered a sauce and they brought the wrong suace what a bunch of jerks! but they lied and said it was the write sauce

Went there for graduation party. Food was good. Good price but portion small. Waiter was friendly and attentive. Not too busy. They accommodated my food allergies with out any problems.

Good traditional American dishes, all cooked amazingly, outdoor seating, great atmosphere, a bit loud/crowded, but architecture and colors make it not claustrophobic

Good place to grab lunch on the weekend. Really big portions, pretty fast service, and inexpensive for the area. Plus, only a block from Rittenhouse

Cozy neighborhood spot hidden off the Square. Nice but spend a few more dollars and go to the actual square and have more fun.

Love it here...come early...close to 9am or 930 for easy in and out before the rush. Love the outdoor seating in summer.
