I ordered Sesame chicken with white rice, hot and sour soup, crab rangoons, and fried chicken wings. The sesame chicken was a thumbs down. The sauce was practically a ketchup quality in texture, flavor, and color. Most of the small pieces were just fried breading with no chicken inside. And you could tell this was definitely their general tsos recipe, just with sesame seeds thrown on as an afterthought. The crab rangoons and red sauce were exceptional. Best red sauce Ive had. You could tell they steep real citrus in it, as you could taste the notes of orange peel etc which was VERY refreshing compared to almost all asian cuisine places Ive been, fancy and casual. The filling of the rangoons had good flavor and texture. Fried chicken wings were some of the best chicken Ive had. You can tell they marinate or brine the chicken in something before frying so theres great flavor throughout. Great breading, not too much, not too little. Not too salty or too much going on. Just right. Crispy. Not dry. Awesome. Hot and sour soup was a no go. Big stringy gelatinous mess, like flaxseed gel. Im sure this may remind asian patrons of shark fin soup or other delicacies that thicken up from cartilage, but its not what Ive come to know hot and sour soup to be. Little to no flavor as well. Made me feel like I was eating snot, being lightly salted flavorless goo. Ugh. If I had to return, it would be for a giant order of chicken wings and maybe some crab rangoons. My search for a decent hole int he wall chinese place continues.

Be careful if you have a discrepancy with your order! I had to call in to correct the address on my order and the young lady I spoke to on the phone was so rude and short with me! She never explained why my order couldnt be corrected and then settled for my address was too far and to cancel my own order and hung up the phone! I had to call GrubHub and have them call for me and she was the same with the customer service rep. who felt so bad she had to give me a credit on my account! 0 for customer service! They have mediocre food and staff with bad phone etiquette and little patience for their customers who spend money in their restaurant!

Ive been trying to find a palatable Chinese place in West Philly. I used to live in New York and was spoiled at the quality of Chinese food. When I moved here, everywhere I tried was not up to par. This is by far the best Chinese restaurant in W. Philly. Ive tried most of them now and this stands as my favorite. The reason? The food is freshly made and their ingredients are fresh. You can taste the crispiness of freshly fried sesame chicken and the crunch of fresh veggies. Given what it is (a cheap Chinese delivery place), its tops in my book.

Im a long time patron. Evergreen has never been more than a greasy-spoon type Chinese-American place, but for most of their history, theyve been good at that. More recently theyve come under new owners/management, and have simply gone down hill. I just order chicken with black bean sauce and some egg rolls. Egg rolls were typical greasy/salty/delicious, but the entree was onions with some carrots/peppers and a couple of slices of chicken in black bean sauce. 90% onions. Not joking. Very disappointing.

The delivery guy was probably one of the rudest people I have ever run into. I ordered through grub hub and the staff at Ever Green put in the wrong phone number for the delivery guy (I doubled checked with grub hub that I put in the correct number). The delivery man was so enraged that he dropped my food on the ground and stormed off after blaming me for putting in the wrong number. NEVER ORDER FROM HERE FOR DELIVERY. Food is always great but obviously the delivery guy needs an attitude adjustment.

Just moved to Philly and live right near this place. I was really skeptical because of what the inside looked like (Bullet proof window where you order, door with bars near kitchen) but this place defines that you cant just a book by its cover. The food has been really good, Ive gotten the steamed chicken and steamed shrimp with mixed vegetables and it was great. The steamed pork dumplings were also really good.

Being chinese, I am extremely disappointed with everything around asian food related around campus...because they taste and look horrible...this place on the other hand ... IS GREAT! food came quickly, it looks nice and edible, portions are large and its free tea is awesome! =) highly recommended to check out! much better than its competitors!

omg, I went there to all the hype from the reviews here. Had the seasame chicken (sweet, not flavorful) and pork dumplings (bready). At best, the food was okay. I have had better take out Chinese (from Texas). It seems like a family business so I am all for that!
