My girlfriend and I ate at the Village Diner on 8/16/2015. The service was not bad, and the food was actually pretty good. However at the end of our meal I looked into my glass of water and noticed that there were approximately 30 things, slightly smaller than a BB floating at the bottom of my cup, and my girlfriend found the same in hers. We flagged down the waitress, who informed us that there was something wrong with the water, and she had meant to serve us some bottled water she had for this purpose. So we had been served water that clearly had something wrong with it. The staff offered no further information, and I suppose we were shocked because we left without really questioning what was wrong with this water. As we continued our drive, we started talking about it, and began to worry exactly what was wrong with this water. We called, and the staff informed us they were not sure what was wrong with the water, just that they should not serve it. Also, there was no manager on duty, and apparently this is the case most of the time (they mentioned the managers work 3 hours a day). We called back again, this time asking that they call their manager to ensure that whatever we drank was not dangerous. They agreed, however it took a 3rd call the next day to finally have them get in touch with someone who could tell us what the problem was. It is ridiculous that there is such little accountability at this restaurant. We were told that the problem was there water filter was broken, and removed and we would be OK. My girlfriend and I have both felt sick to our stomachs all day today (the day after eating there). Its disgusting to think that this place is open despite having these problems with their water system. Regardless of if you drink the water or not, they have to wash their dishes, cook, and clean with it. Also according to waitress there, who told me "I drank some a few months back by mistake, and was fine you probably will be too" this is something that has been a problem for a while. Avoid this place at all costs, if they cant take care of something as important and basic as having clean water, I can only imagine what else is going on in that kitchen.

A few weeks ago I took a different route coming home from an annual trip with a bus load of kids to Lake Champion than what I would normally take and saw a diner along the way that looked a lot like the ones you would see in South Jersey. I knew that if I was back in the area again next year that I would make it a point to stop in and see if they lived up to my expectations. At the time I didnt know that I was going to have that opportunity just a few weeks later but I did so of course I made sure to put it on my agenda. I was encouraged on the way up to see that the parking lot had plenty of space to park the bus but when I came back a couple hours later it was a little more crowded but I was still able to get it in there next to a couple trucks towing boats. As I walked in to the diner I saw that it was a small one with only enough seating for about forty or so but there was sufficient seating for me to get a table and not have to sit at the bar, something I do not care to do especially when I want to relax after driving for the past several hours. As I looked through the menu I saw that it did not have as many choices as what most of the South Jersey diners offer nor did they have a daily specials page but I did see one item that although put off by the name given it I decided to go ahead and order it and Im glad I did since it was good and similar to something I would make at home. I would recommend giving this place a try and say that there were a couple families with children that were enjoying their meals while talking with each other and not carrying on like you might see in a fast food place. I would not hesitate to return on another trip to the area and might even try one of the Greek dishes I heard the server suggest to one of the other patrons.

We stayed at the Scottish Inn next door to this diner this weekend. The owner of the motel highly recommended the Village Diner even with me having 4 kids/teens in tow. Initially I thought we would have to be split up in booths but at the far end was a rounded booth where we pulled a small table up to and it fit us all. The menu is very large and all of us enjoyed our dinners. 3 with breakfast meals and 2 with dinner entrees. Chloe was our server and she was very professional and attentive. The kids topped off their meals with milkshakes and sundaes and all agreed we would be back.

This is a great local restored tin can dinner. I stop here all the time and they have some of the best burgers I have ever had. For a treat try the Brick House Burger with Taylor Ham and a egg. Sonya loves the hot turkey platter, real roasted turkey, real mashed potatoes, YUM. Dinner roles are hit and miss though. I had the sirloin steak special tonight with real mashed potatoes and green beans. Excellent. And Sonya had the same..

Ate here about 5 times now, nothing special as far as the quality of food. Some unique options on the menu, which is nice to see. Service varies tremendously between servers. Very pricey. Had a bacon, egg and cheese on a roll, $6.75. I dont even pay this much in Midtown Manhattan... Down the road at Milford Diner, had the same sandwich for $3.50, and they put 2 eggs on it, and the rolls are much better to boot.

The food here was excellent!! The portions were so big you couldnt see the plate. Home style meals in a small diner setting off the main highway. If you leave here hungry its no ones fault but your own! So full from the main course, didnt have room for dessert, however the selection of homemade cakes and pies will leave you wanting to take a piece along for the ride!!

Food is "ok" nothing worth going back for. Wait staff seemed stuck up and i was forced to pay a 15 dollar tip for a party of 6. Wouldnt have cared if we didnt keep having to get up and look for our waiter for refills, napkins, etc. in general i shouldnt have to tip or pay the amount they forced upon me if the service was terrible. I dont recommend it.

Food isnt bad.... but be prepared to wait. Some of the younger waitresses are more interested in there cell phones than picking up your order when the kitchen rings the bell. PS.. when your meal does show up.. ask for the check then. Youll wait a long time after your meal for it. Once again.. they are busy texting

Stopped here on the way home from a trip and it really is a gem. The menu is impressive, the staff is nice, and the food tastes great. Its a retro looking diner that seems to be pretty crowded in the mornings. I definitely think its worth a wait!
