Cant say Im impressed with the reopening. I really wanted to be. Waited a long time for the doors to open again. Service was horrendous. Not sure why there was a wait at 7pm on a Thursday. A wait for an empty table. Not sure if the waiter was new to the industry or slightly off, but it took 2 hours to have a mini meal. Not impressed. I asked him a question and he replied "yep!" ... And I promptly informed him that he wasnt even listening to me. He laughed and seemed embarassed, and quickly ran away from the table again, before we could even finish our order. Couldnt get refills. He didnt seem to know how to get plates off of the tray to the table. Weird. Bone in chicken croquette is a new addition; They are also larger, you get 1 instead of the 2 classic cone-shaped fritters, and the "meat" inside is now grey. Gross. Didnt bother bringing it home for my dog. Sad excuse for what used to be a delicious dinner at the diner. Water is off-tasting, and since they cook basically everything with it or in it, the food is unfortunately off as well. They were sold out of multiple items. Never had that happen at a diner before! The only positive I saw was the bus boy. He was friendly, looked you in the eye when he spoke to you. We saw him more than the waiter. The owner was present and visible, perhaps making the employees nervous? I hope he can turn this place around before it closes again.

This place has changed over the years & not by remodel. When the three guys owned the diner it was a landmark. It is now a dump. I have given this place three tries & it is out! The owner & his daughter both were rude. The daughter hounded my family table after a meal was horrible. My burger was ordered medium and came out extra well done & dry. I swear a bubba burger is better. I think it was the son on my second visit who comped the horrible soup I ordered with a salad and was super sweet. I was never looking for anything free but respect. I paid for the horrible burger even after getting the evil eye from the daughter & apologies from the server. The servers were great all three times. Even while trying to enjoy our meal the older owner/father was so loud yelling in the kitchen I was embarrassed for the staff. Class is free. Never again. The best thing this diner can do is turn the keys over to Junior. Otherwise a child could run this place better with everyday people skills learned in elementary school. Very sad to post this review but it needed to be done. Three strikes & out

I ate here on the Sunday, the 22nd with my niece and my sister. The waiter and staffs were nice. Our meal were fine, basic things like sandwiches and burger...BUT! We decided to order a chocolate strawberry cheesecake. The waiter brought it over and immediately noticed a collapse chocolate dipped strawberry on the top but just assumed that the cake was a day old. Initially I thought that it tasted funny but my niece and sister kept biting into it. As we were 3/4 done we started peeling away the chocolate coating and noticed moles, strand of blue fuzzy mole/fungus. I freaked out and told the waiter. The manager took it off our check and apologized. He offered a different slice but we were already traumatized. I admit that the staffs were friendly and the food was, like anywhere, ok. I would not go back though. I am one of those people where when one thing goes wrong on my first visit, I refuse to return. I was sick later that night and oh my, Im cringing just thinking of a moldy cake in my mouth. UGH!

Place is a cash grab scam. It may be busy now being a part of the community coming from the ashes but with 2 years to prepare the owner has created this pathetic excuse of a business. Bus boys not wiping down, cooks being under staffed, meat being served cold, hairs found multiple times, and management that that uses poor Hispanic help for 15 hours with no break. We didnt come during a rush and the place was way under staffed. It is simple, if you have so many seats in a restaurant they should be able to accommodate that many people at all times but they could not handle a little over half max capacity. I would hate to see the place during the dinner rush on a weekend. We spoke up and demanded a manager and we in received free drinks, free desserts, and 2 meals free.

*** Horrible Dining Experience*** My husband and I ate at crystal lake diner last night it was pretty empty in the inside. We thought about leaving the moment we read the menu but we decided to stay. My husband ordered the breakfast meal the home fries were soggy and tasteless I would imagine much like how a dish rag would taste just horrible and the pancakes crumbled at every touch he only ate the eggs and toast . My burger was a freezer burnt patty the fries were ok... staff was ok. The food was so horrible I was embarrassed for them. I wish I had something good to say. I was so displeased they asked if we wanted dessert I wanted nothing else out that kitchen.

Went to this diner last night for dinner, and it was such a wonderful experience! Our server was on point. She was prompt to come over and greet us, asked for our drinks. Came back quickly! My wife ordered the chicken croquettes, they were absolutely delicious, along with the mashed potatoes, I snuck a taste while she wasnt looking!! I got the chicken parm, the sauce was just the right amount of sweet and savory! For dessert, I got the cannoli cheesecake and my wife got the Oreo cheesecake, both were out of this world! Classic diner, comfort food, and the atmosphere was awesome. I will be there at least once a week.

The crystal lake diner has reasonable prices, good food, and good service. My overall dining experience was great. The only complaint I have is about an owner/manager named Tony. He was very rude to me and even worse to his employees. He told me I had to move to a different seat after I had already started my meal and was just generally a rude person. I feel bad for his employees. He talked down to them and disrespected them the entire time I was there, which is why I think he wanted me to move from the back room to the front. If I worked for him I would report him or at least just quit.

Over priced for portion and quality ie. canned corn beef hash 2 eggs cooked to long and potatoes for over $10 at breakfast . New decor is bland, new but bland. Service didnt change from before the closure slow at best. Still have cracked plastic cups. Watched staff scoop ice with the cup instead of using a scoop. Thats how they end up cracked and if the cup actually breaks now the ice bin is contaminated with pieces of a cup. I given this place 3 chances over the years and wont be back. Nothing changed but the interior. Food is nothing special and service just isnt there.

Only 2nd day open. Hot turkey was tough. Chicken croquet ok. Asked for butter for vegetables never got it. Stringbeans were tasteless . Chocolate pudding was more like chocolate flavored jello. Prices are great. Will try again. Hope they get the kinks out. Went back for breakfast was o.k. WENT BACK AGAIN FOR BREAKFAST WAITED AN HOUR TO BE SERVED. I DIDNT LIKE IT BEFORE IT REOPENED. I LIKE LESS NOW.
