Decided to try this place this week on a recommendation. Although the food was good, I was not impressed at all and was extremely disappointed. We had a reservation, but were the only ones in the entire restaurant when we arrived. We asked to be seated by the window, but said we couldnt because that table was already reserved. Finally, we convinced the host to seat us there. The premises were disgusting. The floor was dirty, the decorations somewhat dated. For a $200 (including tip) meal, I would expect the tables to be clean and have a table cloth. But it was pretty beat up wood tables that you would expect to find in local bar. There were also flies everywhere! They were swarming at the windows, landing on our food and cheese dish and flying all around. There was some other insects too flying around which I swore bit me a few times, but I dont know. It wasnt too pleasant. The server was highly unprofessional and didnt at all seem knowledgeable about the menu. The server was someone you would expect at a Friendlys or Diner. She barely ever came to check up on this or provide the courtesy you would expect in a $100 per person restaurant. Our used dishes were never cleared in a timely fashion from the table and for a place that calls itself a French Wine Bistro, the wine list was pretty lacking and again, the server wasnt even able to recommend us a proper wine pairing with our food. Again, the wine list was something youd find out of a local redneck bar, not a fine dining establishment. The food itself was actually quite good. The Filet Mignon and Lamb Chop entrees my date and I ordered were extremely good and the presentation was top notch. But overall, the disgusting premises and horrific service we received gave this place a THUMBS DOWN! Oh, and when I order a crisp white wine, I expect it to be chilled. The Pinot Grigio I ordered was at room temperature. My recommendation: Avoid this place at all costs. You WILL be disappointed.

Wish I could rate this place 0 stars, but that isnt an option. The service at this place isnt just bad--theyre racist. Im Asian, and I was thoroughly discriminated against there. I went in for an evening meal, and was supervising a work shift so I was speaking very quietly (in Chinese) on the phone in a hushed voice. The man and his wife next to me began to harass me, first making passive aggressive comments about how rude I was being since I was on the phone, and then yelling at me directly. I apologized to them, as I had to be on the phone for work for a little bit. The man continued to harass me, to the point where I felt genuinely victimized. At that point, the waitress walked over and asked the man if there was a problem, and the man proceeded to explain to her the situation from his perspective. I then proceeded to tell the man to stop harassing me, or else I would call the cops. The waitress then came over again and took the (white) man and his wifes side and asked if he needed to call the cops on me! I was victimized, and since the restaurant hates Asians, they were willing to take the (white) guys side over me. I left in a hurry and didnt tip a cent to the waitress who threatened to call the cops on me. About a couple weeks later, I went to the Spanish restaurant that was also owned by the same company. After sitting there for 20 minutes without service, the owner walked up to me and rudely asked me to leave, since I didnt tip the last time. I couldnt believe it. This is the most blatant display of racism and hatred against Asians in this country that Ive been privy to in my entire life. I only wish that I had been in law school back then, I would have filed a hate crime claim against the restaurant. Unfortunately, the statute of limitations has passed.

I give this place one star only because of their sheer ruceness. La belle Epoque has excellent food, and, usually, pretty good service. Although last time I dined there was a very different story. I was dining there with my family and we were almost the only ones there besides a guy, sitting by himself outside. My family and I were sitting inside and I noticed one man in particular who was talking very loudly. He was definitely staff for he was standing by the bar and also mixing drinks. I heard a few odd remarks from his direction and I turned to look at the guy, who was once again talking to the other waitresses, I happened to notice he was staring out the window at the guy who was alone out there, then I realized that the staff man was mocking the guy outside, I was upset, not for me our my family but for the sheer rudeness of the staff. I heard some other incredibly rude remarks such as: "Im so special because I am british", "Look at how proper he is, pinky up, drinking tea", and one last one that really ticked me off: "he must be gay". I dont think you should really say that at all, let alone to someone who is paying you.

Very few times am I wowed on multiple visits to a restaurant, La Belle Epoque is one of these restaurants. I first visited this restaurant about five years ago and did not return until a few months ago. I had often thought of the delectable omelet that I had years ago and when I returned after five years the quality and taste did not dissapoint. Brunch is only served on the weekends and that is the only meal that I can comment on, having thoroughly enjoyed brunch on 3 separate occasions now. For $8 - $10 you can have the best omelet that you will ever have along with a small salad and potatoes. Yes, for the same price (or less) that you would pay at a greasy spoon you will get a high quality DELICIOUS breakfast. Ive also had the French toast which is divine and a crepe that has provided me with many a beautiful dream. If you are in Media, PA do yourself a favor and stop by La Belle Epoque for your dining pleasure.

I cannot remember the last time I was so completely and utterly disappointed by a meal-- and the service. The cheese tray had bland cheeses ,and the pairings seemed senseless. There were even chocolate chips on the cheese tray, very odd. My caprese salad was served with tomatoes that looked reminiscence of Subways quality. And, when our main meal was finally served, my dining partner found his dish to be inedible and bland. Our waitress didnt return for 20 minutes while we sat there with 1 fork and a god-awful meal. Meanwhile, there were SIX other servers in the empty dining room, not one of whom asked to help. Steer clear of this fine-eatery.

Our second time going there. We were a party of 7 this time. Fantastic food and service. We will definitely go back. There are so many other things on the menu that we want to try.
