I go here about three times a year. Once for my birthday, once for her birthday, and once on Valentines Day. Weve been to other hibachi in the Pittsburgh area (Yokoso, Nakama), and Robokyo, for my money, is superior to both. I cannot comment on the sushi because I do not care for it myself, but she enjoys it. The showmanship at the restaurant over the 10 or so times Ive been there has been hit-and-miss (I still cant do any of the tricks that even the weakest of them can do, so Im not going to criticize too harshly), but the meals have always been delicious and (over)filling. I generally get the Triple Combination with the shrimp appetizer. The decor is fairly bland. If you are the type to prefer to walk into Japan when you come to a hibachi restaurant, then this might not be for you. But if youre like me, and arent really put off by that (all they really have is a dragon hanging from the ceiling in the lobby and the Mens and Womens restrooms are labelled "Ninjas" and "Geishas," respectively), it wont detract. Of the many hibachi places Ive been, the only one better has been Kampai in Mt. Prospect, IL (and mainly because of their shrimp coated in their own garlic butter). I would recommend that you bring a fat wallet, though, because prices are fairly high for the typical 8-to-5 worker.

***Please*** take a moment to read this review. I am trying to save you the time and money that I just lost, plus the anger at having wasted it at Robokyo. Major issues: Small portions Average quality meats, chicken, and fish Massive amounts of soggy vegetables and mushrooms The worst tasting fried rice that Ive ever eaten (literally) The chef did not listen to our objections to having sauces, the soggy vegetables dumped onto our plates, or the fact that my children did not want fried rice, at all, but were served the remnants of it onto their food. The chef was a jackass. His showmanship was weak. The chef was unable to follow instructions, such as not placing the excess vegetables, fried rice, and burnt scrapings of meat onto my childrens plates. If he wasnt carrying that ultra-sharp knife, I would have backhanded him for his insolence. I firmly believe the people who posted the positive reviews of Robokyo are either staff, management, owners, or friends of one of those groups, to offset the actual (negative) comments. I am going to call and complaint about it, but I do not believe it will matter. Theyll likely assume I want a free meal or financial reimbursement. The reality is that I want an apology for the whole experience and the misleading reviews.

Not too happy with the first and last experience. Wasnt able to order hibachi at the bar side. I then asked if I could just order it to go. They said yes. I asked if I would get the price on the wall 16.99 she said yes so I ordered steak and chicken. I asked for no vegetables..... They told me it would be 30 minutes I go to the store to get a drink to kill time. I cone back 35 mins later only to be told 25 minutes. Long story short I was charged 24 dollars for my meal he said he knocked some money off.....I opened the box. Mushrooms. They are the worst of the vegetables. For them to write in big bold letters no vegetables only to get vegetables. Its kinda hard to mess up. I tip because it wasnt the hostess fault but rest of you guys are mildly retarded......

We will NEVER return. Order shrimp or scallops, and the bone-headed chef will serve them to you twenty minutes before he plates your rice or vegetables. When you ask "why the hell did you just do that?" He/she will respond "Oh, because its like eating in courses...". No its not. Its because you have no idea how to cook. However, the problems in this restaurant do not begin with the horribly overpriced food, disgusting sushi, or dimwitted staff, but with MANAGEMENT. Ask the employees how they feel about Roy Bodnar. Better yet, ask a guest who has had an encounter with this lousy prick. He will leave a taste in your mouth much worse than the canned corn in your fried rice, or the barely-recognizable salmon under that pile of nearly-raw rice.

As a business traveller I go to a lot of different places. Yesterday I was in the mood for sushi & this place was right down the street from my hotel. Even though you can see the place from the highway, its a real pain to try & actually get there. I asked to be seated at the sushi bar only to be notified that there is no sushi bar, only a bar where you can sit & eat sushi & drink. I ordered the sashimi platter, a seaweed salad which I did not finish and some nigiri. The fish was very poor quality and today as I type this I am feeling waves of nauesea. The whole place was a big disappointment. Stay away from this place. If you really want sushi drive to Pittsburgh & find a place, just dont go here.

I had heard wonderful things about the food and the atmosphere and was excited to check it out. I went with a large group and we had to sit at 2 different hibachi tables. I liked the atmosphere, but the show wasnt exceptional. As far as the prices, they were absolutely outlandish. Ask them if you can split a meal...theyll charge you an extra $10 for another plate. Its ridiculous. To top off the disappointing mediocrity of the food and the night, 16 out of 17 of us got horrific food poisoning the next day. I didnt go back for a year, but then had to go for a reunion. Again, food poisoning. Its a shame they can continue to run a business like this. Disgusting.

This place got amazing reviews so i had to check it out! The hibachi was alright, but they charged 3 extra dollars for the fried rice that usually comes with the meal. The sushi on the other hand was pretty terrible. The rice was not packed at all and fell apart. Also the quality of the fish was just not there. It was comparable to sushi buffet quality without the price cut.

Looked at some of these reviews and wondered if they were at the same resturant. Service was great! food was equally great. Our chef was great and asked many times if the items he served was to each ones liking. If the prices seem too high then I would recomend a Burger or a Fish sanwich at one of the many local Fast Food locations. You get what you pay for!

Robokyo is a wonderful place to experience and enjoy a hibachi style meal. My family and I go every new years and for my sons birthday, as it is perfect for special occasions. Food is spot on, and so is the service. The owner cares deeply in his restaurant, and takes that extra step to make your dining experience the right one. Classy place, classy owner.

Nope never again. Service was dismal, our waitress was really bad. I literally feel like I was robbed because the cheap scallops were nearly $30. I have been waiting about 20 minutes for my bill, just like every time I wanted a refill I will have to hunt the waitress down. What a shame of a restaurant. I dont expect it to be here for much longer.
