Alright so Ive been coming here for about 10 years. So Ive seen quite a bit. Ive seen multiple menu changes and staff and differences between quality in food. Ive had some wonderful experiences here as I come here at least once or twice a month. But Ive also had some pretty bad experiences. Such as one time I came in with a decent sized party and this older gentleman clearly lacked some interpersonal skills and came off as very rude to a bunch of the people in this party, including the birthday girl who was turning 59. Then not too long ago I had came in for dinner with my family and a younger woman decided to roll her eyes and wanted to argue with me when I decided to point out that the rolls have gotten smaller since even on the website it states that there should be 6-8 pieces in each roll but instead every roll I got consisted of only 5 pieces. Now I normally dont complain about the missing of one piece but I expect to get what I paid for if you know what I mean. Their has been a repetitive offence of this lack of pieces and has begun to get on my nerves. Please fix this. Also when making the tuna tartar make sure the avacado is ripe and isnt hard like mine was in my last visit. The sauce that gets put on the tuna is amazing so dont leave it out! And when making the dynamite rolls make sure you do give at least 6 pieces and have the eel sauce in plenty because its a great flavor combination! And when having the vegetables in the dinner menu bowls prepared make sure they are cooked through well. :)

Being a military family, my husband and I came here religiously on Tuesdays for their Military Special... Good food, good service and a great value, was so nice that I even hosted a military wives book club here a few weeks ago on a Tuesday. Tonight was a different story. When we went to pay for the bill, and showed the manager our IDs (this is the manager that weve always had, every Tuesday), she informed us that their policy only allowed for the active duty service member to receive the discount. When I questioned if this was a new policy, she informed me that it wasnt and that it has never been their policy to give the discount to anyone other than active duty. I explained how we and had always both received the discount, and that SHE had been the one to check our IDs. Then she exclaimed that she "never works on Tuesdays, this is the first Tuesday Im here". That was a boldfaced lie. Shes always been the person who has checked our IDs, we even confirmed with a server, she is always the working manager on Tuesdays. I informed her that due to her poor handling of the situation, we would not be returning to Tsunami and her response was a flat "ok" and she walked away. It is one thing to change your policy, it is another to LIE about it and mistreat a loyal customer. We will not be back and we will tell our friends about this awful experience as well.

Used to love this place, sadly its slowly going down hill. Being a military family, my husband and I went to Tsunami regularly, often on military special night. Not only have the portions gotten smaller but the management has taken a turn for the worse. Tonight we were "informed" they only offer the discounts to the active duty member. When we questioned the change in policy the manager she told us that had always been their policy. Which we know is not the case. So, when I mentioned she had been our manager many times before, she insisted she never works on Tuesdays. Which was in fact a lie. A lie confirmed by a server, she is ALWAYS the manager on Tuesdays. For a company to change a policy is understandable, to lie to the faces of religious customers is terrible business practice. I used to recommend this place to new people in the area, for friend gatherings, spouse socials, etc. Never again! Dont waste your time, this place wont be open much longer. There are plenty of sushi options in the area, we will be going to them from now on.

We have been Mt. Pleasant Residents for more than 18 years and have eaten at Tsunami many, many times. We have always had great service and food. Last week, I took my Bride out for a date, just the two of us, and to be honest, I dont think we will be back after this experience. It was avg, at best. There is a new Sushi/Asian restaurant up in Oakland that is more expensive, yet the value for our dollar is SO much better. The Server was a nice guy, yet, with almost no people in the restaurant, it took forever for us to get our drinks. He only came to the table a few times, and we had to ask for things he should have brought automatically. Also, the salad was bland, almost bitter, and the portions of our Hibachi meals were smaller than usual, and the overall meal was not that tasty. Further, I hardly had any vegetables, and the veggies I did have were mostly carrots. I just get the impression that this restaurant is cutting costs, using substandard products, and employing less people. It will probably be a long time before we go back.

My wife and I have been to many Sushi Restaurants in our lifetime and this one is at the bottom of our list. First the entire restaurant smelled as if someone use the same mop from the bathroom as they did in the main restaurant, I couldnt get the smell of pee out of my nose. (I knew we should of left then.) The restaurant did appear to be clean but just smelled bad. I found the sushi quality to be lacking and expensive. We will not be going back, I hope they get this figured out and corrected but I will not be spending anymore of my money at this establishment.

$$ but the plate is enough for 2 people. We eat and take to go the leftover and was enough for dinner. We make a special request ( by food allergies) and they help us kindly, the waitress was very kind and help us a lot, food taste good, a variation in preparation , but works, the fried rice was to simple the plate for kids is a fuller size, we eat after 4 pm, and receive some discount. We expect to pay more than $50.00 for 2 adults and 2 kids, but surprised were less than...we will return. They have sushi bar. For those whom like it.

The sushi was terrible, there were globs of crab oozing out the end of the roll. I could make better sushi than this. Parts of the roll have hardly and filling. Poorly rolled...Rice is tasteless and grainy. Seaweed wrap is hard and chewy... The green tea just tasted swampy... The wasabi was greyish and tasted questionable. I have a terrible stomachache as I write this... Just dont. The service was good so if you are stopping by for a drink you will probably have a good enough experience...

Our sushi arrived with BROWN avocado on top, the wasabi was yellow/brown, and the ginger was rank and slimey. On mentioning this to the manager, I was told I was not a Japanese sushi chef and this was how it was done. After asking for the owners information so I could contact him to make my complaint she told me she would not give me that information and basically walked away. The bill was not reduced, the literal bad food was not apologized for nor amended.
