The 1 Star I gave is for the good food. They dont deserve anything more. The food is ridiculously overpriced. Bite sized portions of curries (which wud be 9$ at the max) for 15$. They charge for Paapad (which is supposed to be complimentary, like Nachos at a Mexican place), and even for pickle and curd (which is billed for 3$ as Raitha). This alone came to 8$. Plus they add an inbuilt tip of 4$ on ur check, and then shamelessly ask for additional tip too! The manager n the waiters are rude and uninterested if you are Indian. They gesture to a small corner for you to sit down. But if you are American, they are cloyingly sweet n put extra effort.....To dupe people out of more money I guess! The food here is good. But the price and attitude of the staff truly sucks! Definitely not worth 4.3 rating! Maybe like 2.5. EDIT: Called the manager of this place, and tried to explain that these items are usually complimentary. He replies with sarcasm - "Did you see the menu or not? This is the way it is. Ur the first customer who has complained about this". When I told him 3$ is too much for Curd (which they billed as Raitha on my check), that even a box of curd is 4$ - He tells me "Then go eat at Walmart". All this, after I gave them 50$ of business lol! I dont want to sound indecent here so Im probably not going to comment on that. I wish I can re-rate this place to 0 Stars.

I went to Saffron Indian Kitchen yesterday after seeing the good review about this restaurant and ordered Briyani and Tandoori, This is one of my worst experience to taste this kind of briyani, It filled with full of masala, it is neither tasty nor spicy and more important not even taste like briyani and Tandoori it it is really very bad its smell like they not even put this in oven(or whatever) for 5 mins may be because of not a fresh chicken... More than this, one person who served well and the other person he is not even responding to me, i am not sure about the reason why he is not.. And I paid 68$ (including tax, tip) -- for 2 Lamb briyani and 1 chicken tandoori.. I am from indian background so I ate all the meal with no choice bez of price (:.....

the food is overly priced....we had ordered kathia rolls which were just kawan paranthas wrapped around the stuffing....i had ordered kadhai paneer makhani which was like tomato ketchup boiled along with heavy cream and tomato paste and minus all the spices mentioned in menu card.....my husband had lamb vindaloo which was not at all spicy....the accompanying rice was undercooked....the staff was good..but I would not recommend this restaurant to any one who likes nice spicy authentic indian food...if you like bland food with a raw tomato paste + heavy cream taste this is the place....

I am from India and I visited many restaurants in PA and NJ. The food in Saffron is very expensive and the quantity is like a baby meals. I am surprised to see high rated reviews probably they may not know what it costs in other restaurants for that quantity. Taste is average not suppose to cost that high. If you can drive, visit other Indian Restaurants in Norristown (Aman/Flavors Of India) and other in Trooper (Dosa Hut, Desi Spice).

Was in town on business, saw the reviews of this place, even tho a bit pricy decided to order it. Wasnt that memorizing, the quantity they gave for lunch chicken Tikka was ridiculous compare to what they charge for it, the taste was decent nothing extraordinary. The Naan was ok too. Also they should put more friendly employees at the front. Wouldnt go there again, def not worth it for the price.

My husband and I were seated immediately for our reservation, but at an "outdoor" table (uncomfortable) indoors with a tablecloth. The food was good and served quickly except for the not so warm appetizer. It felt like we were "hussled"-- they couldnt wait for us to pay our bill and leave so they could fill the shaky table again. Not sure if were coming back...dont like to be hussled!

Order the Jason for lunch.... It is amazing. Consistently good food and service..The Jason is not on the menu but the staff knows... You have to just ask for it. Hey I need credit for that tip!!! Basically, its a chicken Kathi roll with a side of Tikka Masala sauce (no chicken) and complementary accompaniments... Its a winner!

Horrible experience,, food is just garbage.. they call it authentic!!!hmmm!! highly over priced. A paratha for $4?? you must be kidding. Dal for $12?? Fish curry for $18. That explains,,,They think money grows on trees.. If you love to waste your hard earned money,,, Welcome to the World of Saffron!!!!

Last week we specially drove to this place for dinner. We reached at 9:00 pm and even though restaurant hours are till 9:30, host would only accept take out orders. They should clearly mldefine their hours so people dont drive all the way for a meal. F for customer service. C for food.

As someone who does not enjoy Indian cuisine, I LOVE Saffron. It is a tiny little place, but the food packs a punch! Very filling, spicy, & good quality! It doesnt leave you dying later that night/the next morning. It is definitely on the pricier side, but well worth it for the occasion!

Awesome food and service. We were there at Christmas with two servers on staff and they did a great job. The menu has all of the typical dishes. The three dishes we had we elegantly spiced and very tasty. I easily recommend this place without hesitation if you like Indian cuisine.

the lamb I got was delicious! I come back here for that alone. The meals are decently portioned for the price and quality. This place is authentic, almost to a fault, since you might have difficulty understanding what you are buying if you are not familiar with Indian cuisine.
