Close to work, OBS is where to go for meats, breads, and pickled things. Their menu is spartan, but what they give you is very tasty (a must-try is their in-house mustard, available at every table). The place is cute and cozy, with plenty of viewing room for the imported, cured, and baked goods throughout the shop. Additionally, the parking begs no complaint. Prices are where a person may be taken-aback – mashed-potatoes, kraut, and a pork chop (note: a large one) will put a person at nearly $8 before a drink is purchased (these, though, are very moderately priced). Anything else in the shop, from boxed to baked to processed goods, will also tend on the higher-side of what could be expected of a grocer. TLDR; Not the cheapest for the most food, but a swell location for a tasty bite and to pick-up your imported European/Bavarian goods.

The quality of their meats has seriously deteriorated over the years. By the time I pick out all the "hard stuff" in the lunch meats, I only have about 1/2 a slice left! It is getting ridiculous! There have also been several times where I was charged more for my items, so watch the person adding up your bill. Double check it in your vehicle before you leave. I wish it was better, as there are few choices in the Portland area. I wish someone had bought Fetzers. There quality and recipes were so much better. I hope Original Bavarian Sausage reads this and fixes their meats. I am not sure if I will be going back.

Just bought $15 worth of mini cakes and ALL of them were totally inedible. The cakes were extremely stale (maybe even rotten) and I was embarrassed to serve them to my guests. Every time I think about eating those cakes I actually feel a little sick. If I had to guess the cakes were at least 2 weeks old if not going on 3. This is the second time this happened and I will never go back again. I cannot imagine who would sell customers something of that poor quality. Shame on you.

My wife and I have shopped here for years. The last couple of times we bought both meat and bread they have been below standard. Today we made a special trip just because we had a craving for fresh fine bratwurst and fresh German bread. The brats tasted horrendous and spoiled. The bread was dry and stale. We are very sad but we will now have to take our business elsewhere.

Stopped in here for lunch with my girlfriend the other day and we loved it. Plenty of options to choose from (as long as you like meat!) and good prices. They also have German beer available in the bottle and an excellent pastry case as well. Nice quiet patio to eat on and the food was excellent. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. We will be back again for sure!

Love the meats and cold cuts and it is great to get German sweets and products we cannot get otherwise. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Products are made without fillers, so if you dont eat gluten it is helpful to now there is no gluten hidden in them. We really like going there and find the tastes and quality as good as in from a butcher in Germany!

Friendly, authentic German fare, I have my favorites. Its a place my husband and I go regularly for lunch. The deli and bakery offer a nice variety to pick from. Something for everyone! The homemade pretzels are always a hit. Lots of brands of beer, cold cuts, cheeses and bread/rolls or pretzels.

Quality salami and other classic meats. Very well crafted meats. Good selection of other fine European imports. They have a bread section. Also, the store also houses a small resturant sections. This restaurant section has great small meals for a quick bite to eat.

I used to have lunch here quite often, and the food and service were great. I get sausages to bbq at home and the last two times they were stale and nearly spoiled! The owners and staff are pleasant, but if you get sausages to go, make sure they are FRESH!!

Its a small deli run by a German couple. They had a very impressive selection of sausages and other meats, and a lunch menu to try their products. The potato salad was really good, as was the Hungarian sausage I had.

The staff is arrogant, and they are not beyond cheating either. You better watch the expiry date on everything, and if its conveniently covered by the price tag, you can bet its about 3 years out of date.
