Yay, yay, yay! Im so happy to have finally found high quality Chinese food in the Portland area! FINALLY, Ive found a place that makes fried rice with fresh vegetables (and not those nasty frozen peas and carrots) that is fluffy and white (and not dry, brown and overly seasoned with soy sauce). I have eaten Chinese food all over San Fransisco, down the Peninsula to San Jose, in Seattle and Vancouver. I am very picky. Maybe 5% of Chinese restaurants meet with my approval. I loved the food at Seres. It tasted very fresh and lovingly prepared. Food was perfectly flavored and seasoned. It is pricey, but they use high quality natural meats and produce. Its so nice to have at least one place in town to get Chinese food that is made with healthy ingredients and Im willing to pay more for that. Plus they support community causes and try to be sustainable- Im also willing to pay more for that. And I really appreciate that they have so many gluten free items. If youve only ever eaten cheap, fast Americanized Chinese food, you might not appreciate the food here. Upscale Chinese food is very different. It has more fresh vegetables and things are not overly seasoned and drowned in soy sauce. We just went there for the first time recently so I can only speak of that one experience. But the service was perfect- very attentive. The decor was nice- clean and upscale. It was an all-around perfect dining experience. Well definitely be back! Tip: The honey walnut prawns are awesome! Loved the vegetable fried rice!

Whenever I am in Portland visiting family I always make it a point to have either lunch or dinner at the Seres Restaurant (formerly Sungari Pearl) in the Pearl District. It is so enjoyable for many reasons. The atmosphere is very relaxing, the staff is very attentive and the food is fabulous. The service has always been more than excellent. The staff is friendly and very helpful with menu suggestions. The most important point is the food. This last trip my sister and brother-in-law and I had lunch with Mongolian Beef, Rainbow Scallops and Sungari Lo Mein. Absolutely out of the world. I will be back in January and will make it a point to have dinner with family here. It is something we all enjoy. If I had Seres here in Mukilteo Washington I would be there at least two to three times a week.

I was visiting my family on Thanksgiving and got to the area pretty late. Most restaurant closed early and Seres was still open at 4:45. So I ordered 6 dishes to go, total of $95 !! I had been to plenty of high end restaurants with ocean views to have high prices like them. But I paid for the view on top of good food&service. However charging $19.99 for an order of small stir fried dish is outrageous for a restaurant like Seres. Food tasted not much better than Safeway Deli. There are too many places in this area to justify putting up with something as mediocre and overpriced as Seres. I would like to see how long this restaurant will last.

I just love Seres. It just tastes so good, and it’s so good for you too! They focus on using top-quality, mostly organic ingredients. Sustainably-caught, naturally-raised, no hormones, etc. I only know it tastes extraordinary! Essentially, you will find traditional Chinese food like fried rice or Kung Pao chicken, but notice a lighter, more pure quality than many typical places. The restaurant itself is very serene, and I love stepping inside into immediate-relaxation mode. Plus, parking isn’t too bad in this neighborhood. GREAT Happy Hour all-around, and for dinner I especially love the moo shu pork and its prepared tableside.

Overpriced mediocre Chinese food with atrocious service. I ordered take out here twice and was told that the food should be ready for pickup in 20 minutes. Both times, I had to wait an additional 20 minutes at the restaurant beyond the time estimated over the phone. The service staff was quite ambivalent about the wait. Definitely not worth the trip here, especially given the much better and cheaper options available in the neighborhood.

We were looking forward to a flavorful experience...ordered takeout requesting chicken breast to be added to an expensive vegetable dish. Costs escalated with the addition and I was even charged for a small portion of rice. Food was terrible...we even questioned if it was chicken ..the meat was gray-tough and very bad...tossed and reverted to a local pizzeria Happy we found this prior to the event we are planning.

2 words: happy. hour. They have awesome food specials and, while the serving sizes arent huge, you can try several of their yummy fusion-dishes over drinks. The food is great and the venue is swanky. A nice cultural addition to the Pearl which teems with new American food... as if that theme werent overdone... Just one little note: you cannot take HH food to go, so be sure not to order more than you can finish!

Amazing is the only word to describe the food at Seres. The food is never greasy like most of the Chinese food I grew up with and the price is below what I would have expected to pay for the great quality product they provide. Happy hour and the small bites menu is another great thing about Seres, so many choices including many available as gluten free makes this restaurant a prefect choice for anyone.

Two stars for relatively acceptable prices and food that wasnt absolutely awful. However, the food was pretty bland and the service was subpar, especially compared to other Chinese-American establishments in town. I read that they use fresh ingredients, and that may be true, but the food itself left a lot to be desired. It was good enough to try once but we wont be back.

Really good American style Chinese food. Seres uses sustainable, organic and locally produced ingredients whenever possible. I havent tried anything I did not like. Very good values during happy hour. Pretty good cocktail program for a Chinese restaurant. The dining room is very modern and clean. Service is friendly and efficient. Located in the Pearl District.

I have been dining here for years - have enjoyed every meal from lunch to dinner to happy hour. Have taken many people here for their first time and they become fans. Fresh, top quality ingredients. Everything is savory and healthy - not oily, not heavy, etc. Love their Peking Duck - a must have if you dine with a group of people.

Nice location in the Pearl District. Interior is a nice modern atmosphere. Good selection of wines. Our waiter was helpful in explaining the dishes - many of which were non-traditional. Appetizer portion of shrimp rolls was good but small. The Yin and Yang shrimp was tasty. A little pricey but very good food overall.
