This was the worst experience I have had in a restaurant in years, if not ever. The kitchen made little effort and had zero quality control, allowing dishes to leave the kitchen with unripe and inedible ingredients and cooked with rancid oil. And the owner is a chauvinist who was physically intimidating and verbally abusive. I do not recommend anyone support this restaurant. We had been repeat customers for a while, and about 4 months ago we got a messed up to go order. We called and were told no big deal, we will have a credit in their computers and to come in whenever we were able and wanting. We live an hour away from Indochine and only go after my doctors appointments because i have been so ill that i do not get out very much. So when we asked for our credit at the end of yesterdays incredibly poor meal, the owner came over and essentially accused us of lying to get credit for a free meal. So follow the logic - he thinks that 4 months ago we called in and lied about missing and incomplete items in our order to set the stage for a free meal 4 months in the future?? I guess was came up with this little gig while i was hospitalized and fearing for my life, sure, i was plotting to scam a free meal while i was having tubes inserted in my chest and cameras shoved down my throat. That makes sense? The owner was physically aggressive, blowing a gasket that we politely sent back sub-par food despite us going out of our way to be gracious and understanding. He towered over both myself and my mother while we were seated, getting less than 3 inches from my mothers face. Both of us are clearly disabled, I myself have a port and tubes coming from my chest and was infusing IV medications and both of us had service dogs with us. He used his height and body to be physically aggressive and downright frightening. I thought he might strike us at one point. Chauvinism is alive and well at Indochine, it was clear this man thought us vulnerable and he took advantage of that fact to intimidate us into paying before we left. The sad thing is that the menu is good, and the decor is beautiful. However when u spend 20+ dollars on single dish you expect to be treated with respect and dignity. We were afforded neither. In fact we were terrorized into paying for a meal that was below sub par then booted out and told never to come back. We will be reporting to both BBB and the ADA for his truly frightening assault.

First, ive always came to indochine or chili thai for my thau/laos style cravings. the service was great. Our waitress was very kind and checked up on us frequently. Coming from any restaurant thats a must. She served well and thats my only reason for the one star. The food, on the other hand, has went completely down hill. For how this is cooked it WAYYYY OVERPRICED. This is not how thai food is cooked comin from a household who traditions this food. Chili thai has way better flavor and actually follows through with the choice 1-5 spicy level and the hotter level beyond that. Here at indochine i asked for the hottest level for my pang nang curry and papaya salad. Both were equally NOT SPICY. Not even close. I felt like i just asked for 1star. Pang nang curry lost so much of its flavor to over use of coconut, needed more red curry than ever. Papaya salad.. well if u ever ate legit papaya salad(if not, order it from chili thai and choose laos style)this was by far like a regular salad in asian cuisine. I started picking apart my food too see what they used for spice and it was nothin but un poportioned cuts of green thai chilis.... thats a red light, you dont slice em up in thai food to spice it up... you crush it up and make a paste that way it become spicy. I did however make note of it and they made an excuse of the customers majority feeling of spicyness... NO. Why make a choice selection of 1-5 stars when you are just going to disregard what you offer because most customer cant handle it... like theres a 1 star for a reason, you dont make 1 star heat for 5 star heat. Makes ZERO sense. But regardless im never going to eat here again. YOU WILL SAVE LOTS OF MONEY AND HAVE MUCH MORE LEGIT THAI FOOD AT CHILI THAI !!! My personal favorite is the one in university place. But they have three locations and they all meet expectations. U.p district, puyallup, and tacoma.

If I could give 0 stars I would. My wife, friends and I used to go here once a week, at least, when they first opened. The food was so good, so full of flavor. The service was off the chart, best in Tacoma. Now, not so much. We hadnt been there in awhile because we started noticing a decline in food quality. Its my Daughters 13th birthday and she wanted to go to the Spaghetti Factory but they were packed, so she chose Indochine. Since it had been so long we thought we would give it a shot. We ordered our favorites, Cashew chicken, Empanadas and Asian Fish and chips. I was shocked at how flavorless the food was. All the sauces were completely watered down. The peanut sauce that comes with the Empanadas used to be my favorite. Tonight, it was so watered down you could hardly taste it. It used to be so thick and wonderful. The Asian Fish and Chips was awesome, now, it was so bland I had to drown it in ketchup to get some kind of taste. Believe me, I get the price increases, but, why diminish the quality of the food. The music was so loud we could hardly talk to each other. Lastly, the automatic tip charge is bogus. The assembly line service is impersonal and disconnected. Service was subpar at best. I wish we would have just left but we were all so hungry and trying to celebrate I wasnt gonna take a chance of embarrassing my Daughter on her birthday. Please save your "sorry" response. Doesnt mean anything to me. Action means something.

Let me say first my food tasted very delicious. I was bothered a little by the automatic 18% gratuity told to me at time of sitting down with Brittany my server. She was pleasant and professional, not to misunderstand me. But heres the twist... I stated that maybe I would feel its not warranted, shouldnt tip be a response to meal and service? She explained how its split between servers and chef staff... (Not my responsibility to that in my opinion, NY/NJ/PA doesnt normally have that protocol). I ordered appitizer spring roll and it came just as server walk away, I believe I got someone elses order. I told server upon her return, she said it was expertise of chef.....hmmm. then I realized no shrimp in rolls. I told server and her response was "bummer"..... (I would have expected a different response) then was billed for the rolls and billed extra for the side of rice that went with my entree. I told the server she may have shortchanged her tip. Maybe I would have tipped more than 18%. She said why? Well I reminded her of her response when I alerted her of no shrimp as "bummer".... she asked shall I take it off the bill? No, I ate them and you have decided your top amount. I hope its not too trivial however, I dont agree with predetermined tips, and there is a perfect example. I believe a lesson has been learned. My food was tasty, atmosphere is lovely, pricing is a little on upward but not too high.
