We wandered in late on a Saturday night after being rudely refused service at another oriental restaurant in Southwest Downtown because we came in too close to closing time...which was 45 minutes away!! Though it was even later by the time we arrived at August Moon, and they had obviously been slammed earlier in the evening (I think something was going on at Schnitzer that night), the staff welcomed us and managed to find a clean booth in the rubble. I had the Seafood Noodle Soup, my wife the Hot and Sour Soup. Both were excellent and reasonably priced ($3.50 for a bowl of the Hot and Sour and $8.95 for the Seafood Noodle which was HEAPED with shrimp, squid, and scallops). Probably one of the best values Ive personally run across in all my PDX dining adventures. Dying to go back and try the General Tsos and Salad Rolls - which they had run out of the night we were there. If youre looking for good, solid, family-style Chinese food in Southwest Downtown, August Moon on SW Clay is your place.

was excited to finally get some good Chinese food after much research. was very disappointed. the place didnt even look like pictures. the place seemed clean, but there was a filthy trail down the hallway to public restrooms. one person was there at the dinner hour for her first time. the foods are centered around the big brown noodles. I couldnt chew the vegetables enough to swallow them in my vegetable chow mein. there was no great flavor. someone did a great job on their website though. thanks for letting me give a review. signed, disappointed.

2 hours and 30 minutes later I still have not received my food. I have decided to give up and ask for my money back, but no, that will take too long too. so thank you, thank you for sucking up the last of my money, not giving me the food I paid for, and taking too d@#$ long to do anything about it. Not only have you lost 1 customer, but you will lose more from what I have to say. Potential customers, heed my warning, do NOT go here, do NOT waste your money here, and above all else, avoid this place like the plague.

I ate here in February, 2014. Because Im trying to avoid GMOs, I asked them what kind of oil they use in a certain dish. They told me vegetable oil. I asked them what kind of vegetable oil. The server went to ask someone in the back. She came back and said they dont know what kind of vegetable oil they use. If restaurant management doesnt care enough to know specifically what kind of ingredients they use in their food, Im not interested in eating there.

Have eaten at August Moon many times and have gotten take-out for parties/friends...its wonderful each time, some of the best chinese weve ever had! Staff is pleasant and accomodating. We like the decor...the outside has red chinese lanterns hanging, it feels very welcoming. We love their cashew chicken, kung pao chicken and brocolli beef...give a try, youll be pressed to find better chinese in Portland!!!

Msg overkill ..kung pau chicken is chicken and peanut ....in a salty salty brown sauce absent of hot pepper or jalepeno and and no vegetable....so much msg I had to wait for my heart palpatations to go so I could drive and work! Thats not ok... Msg is not the only flavor around.and kung pau is spicy and has veggies in every other resteurant I use.....not hard to make...... easy.

This is the single worst restaurant experience Ive ever had. It took over an hour for the food to be brought out, one dish at a time with twenty minute gaps between. They got orders completely wrong twice, and we ran out of time to wait for them to fix it. I left as hungry as I was upon arriving. Absolute trainwreck in terms of service. Dont eat here.

Ordered beef broccoli, which came with steamed rice, and Szechuan lamb. Both came with vegetables and sauce. Each was delicious with good portions. The waitress was prompt, courteous, and attentive. Restaurant was clean and well decorated. Price was very reasonable. I will definitely be recommending this place to friends and family in the area.

I ordered delivery thru GrubHub on my phone...It was quick and easy. My food arrived 15 minutes earlier than guestimated. Delivery guy was polite. My experience was satisfying. I will order again in the future. I did see lots of negative experiences being posted, luckily I didnt experience anything bad.

I went with a friend to get Chinese, this place fit the bill. The foods pretty good, the staff were nice, and the prices were right on (about $10 a plate). If youre nearby its worth the walk. If youre not nearby, I recommend going to the Chinese place near you (its probably just as good).

Literally, delivery took 2 hours. I called twice to make sure they hadnt forgotten me. They said the guy was five minutes away both times. When he got to my house he said he had the wrong address. The wrong address was like 4 blocks away. New ordering take out again ever......

The food is relatively good... quality ingredients prepared well. The service takes forever and the order was wrong. There are tea cups but no tea is offered. There are no condiments (except for salt and pepper) and no sauces of any kind. I wouldnt do this again.

Useless phone number, Im not sure why they even have it posted. I called over 10 times in one day during business hours to try and place an order, and nobody even answers the phone. Bad for business, good luck staying open with this kind of service

50 minute wait for food!? Are you guys serious? The restaurant was not even close to near full. I was around three empty tables even. This owner clearly knows their value in sacrificing service quality for money saved by having less employees.

Omg do not go there. I got a bad headache after eating their food and then my muscles felt weak half an hour after eating. I should have known. Their fiod is toxic and the host was so cheap. She wouldnt give me another napkin.

They piled their food with onions and peppers on every dish, we got 2 different things, but they both tasted the same. Not very much variety. When we ordered, they just hung up on us, were hard to understand and rude.

The food was the best Chinese food from a restaurant Ive ate in a long time. The taste is very Chinese, which is great. Also we got a free bowl of rice. Overall, it was a delicious meal at a great price.

I placed a delivery order last Friday around 8pm, it took 2 hours for the driver to arrive and the order was wrong, I did not get everything I paid for. Very disappointed. Want my money back!!

This is absolutely the worst delivery ever. Way too long and the person taking the order hangs up before you say anything. Very rude phone service... never again order from this place.

The wait was forever. They brought us one dish at a time at 15 minute intervals. Once we finally got it, some was cold and the chicken was not cooked. Worst chinese food ever.

RAW. Chicken. Delivery.... after tasting other items, there was undercooked pork as well. Called to complain and they hung up. Hit up my gmail for pics of the raw food.
