For the first time ever, my daughter, her godparents and I came in for dinner last night. The food was fantastic, the service was superb and it had a family feel to the place! My daughters godmother and I had Eggs Benedict, which we loved! My daughters godfather had biscuits and gravy, and he said thats the best he tasted in a long time, and my daughter had chicken fried steak, which she wolfed as much down as she could, but ended up taking what she couldnt eat home and had the rest for breakfast, this morning! We will definitely be back and soon! On a group page on Facebook tonight, a long time customer of theirs mentioned that the restaurant might be closing soon. I sure hope not! I can understand if the owners dont want to spend the rest of their lives operating it and maybe the family doesnt want to take it on, but if they do sell the restaurant and property, I sure hope they put a stipulation in that the restaurant stays, and that it is not changed too much, from the food served and the staff there. It would be a shame if this place closed forever and became a distant memory!

1st Loved the atmosphere it was old kind of nostalgic feel, but clean and maintained. 2nd thing was the waitress dont recall her name but she had big scroll metal gauges in her ears lol, she was one of the best waitresses Ive had in a long time she was personable with all her customers willing to answer any questions. when asked she offered her suggestions on what was good I tipped her 50% she was that good. 3rd thing was the menu choices it took me awhile to choose, but the waitress sold me on the pancakes telling me they made their own syrup and strawberry jam to go on them with eggs bacon and sausage I couldnt go wrong 4th taste! Everything was cooked perfect. I was s cook for some years so Im picky, but there was nothing I would have changed. Cant wait too try the biscuits and gravy, waitress said they are the bomb. Ohhhh and I won $40 on the slot machines. I paid for lunch, tip, gambling still walked away a few bucks ahead... OH YEAH!

Terribly bland food and very poor service from waitress "Tee". Came in with my clients for lunch and after what seemed like 20 minutes, "Tee" finally came to our table with an attitude. When she brought my salad I proceeded to eat it and after getting half way thru I found a "Dirty Napkin" hidden in the bottom of my lunch salad. I immediately called "Tee" over and showed her what I found in my salad. She "acted" surprised and grabbed the salad and disappeared for 10 minutes. She brought me back a fresh salad, "NO APOLOGY", then disappeared after blaming the cook. When I got the check I noticed no discount, no apology, and really very bad service. My clients were very surprised, and I as well. I left a 20% tip, but in hindsite I should not have, and I should have asked to speak to the owner. I will never eat there again.......who knows what theyd hide in their food the next time!? Future Diners beware!!!

Another spot for a Sunday after church family get-together for lunch. Been going to the Overlook since it was this teeny tiny spot in the same block called Devlins. My friend introduced me to it and she always had the coconut cream pie. :o) Mr. Devlin was there recently when I and my family stopped in for Sunday lunch and he remembered me. Wow! That was a sweet moment. The food is spot-on. The menu is huge...prices fair....it is totally independent...nothing "chain" about it....I favor the "Pepper Steak" which is a wonderfully seasoned ground beef steak filled with green peppers and onions. It is soooo good. The desserts will grab you attention when you walk in. I dare you NOT to get one. The waiter staff are the best. Never fear to stop by at the Overlook. I would go there more often if I didnt live so far out on the east side. Luckily my church is in that neighborhood tho :o)

This is a local favorite thats been in business for decades. Its most loyal patrons are among the hard working men and women who ply thier trades of the blue collar variety nearby. The physical demands of those crafts are catered to in generous portions. More is more at the Overlook. The appeal is refreshingly unpretentious and straight forward. Youll find no exotic items on the menu, but the quality of its large platters of unassuming fare take a surprising departure from mediocrity. The difference lies in the details. The strawberry spread tasted fresh- no canned stuff here. My mug of coffee was never empty. Service was prompt and polite without pretention.

Ive been eating here since I was little until I moved to Atlanta. I occasionally dine here when I visit family however I have received the WORST service each time. This will be the last time I service this restaurant. Took 15 min to clean the booth, once cleaned no one serviced us. Requested a manager and was attacked by 2 waiters, one asked, "for what?", the other said "I dont know where he is." After another 5 min we FINALLY received menus and straws which where thrown down on the table as the waiter walked away. There were egg shells in the gravy which is perplexing. Even my 7 year old nephew asked, "why are they treating us this way?"

The Overlook has been a great place to eat for several decades. Now that smoking has been outlawed state-wide, the "atmosphere" has improved remarkably. During late fall, 2009, management removed the central food-servers utility island for a brighter, more "open" feel in the room. Big screen TVs are mounted along the ceiling with individual volume-controlled speakers which are delivered to your table upon request. The owner, "Jimmy," is present several hours each day to greet the customers and make sure the food and service are superb. Cant say enough good things about this wonderful restaurant!

Decided on this place because it was the closest restaurant to our max stop and was definitely not disappointed. The Greek food was amazing. I had the combo plate and loved everything on it, even the cabbage rolls. The staff was very nice and our waitress was on top of everything. Would definitely recommend to anyone with a group of picky eaters because of the wide variety of options (authentic Greek to American steak and chicken strips) or anyone looking for a casual place with amazing food.

I was skeptical at first, but wow. I had the chicken gyro and fries for $6.50. This is the BIGGEST gyro I have ever had, and it was very tasty! I am hooked! Next up is to try the ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT Spaghetti Dinner for $5.95 on Wednesdays! I think some might be put off by this old diner look and feel, and there seem to be a lot of older clientèle. Pay no mind. The service was good and friendly. Give it a try!

I have been coming to this resturant since I was four. I love most of the staff. And I bearly have anything to complain about. I love seening the owner and his daughter there. And I love talking with them. Just like the owner I am unhappy when I read bad reviews, this is because this resturant has been my most favorite place to eat at and I would hate to see it close. Love you Jimmy.
