Lets see this is a rehash of the coffee joint that was there before but with less options and higher prices.... Use of space - F, A two sided very large white walled coffee house that could have interactive areas, chess, couches and more like one I wont name over in Sellwood. Use of walls - F, trying to be vogue hippie art that costs well north of a few hundred dollars and wont ever sell Coffee - F, two options Medium Roast (overroasted with notes of carmel and some sweet spice bleh) and Dark (overroasted with notes of burnt coffee and wood) Service - D, well they are pleasant but wait for it wait for it wait for it S-L-O-W.... How long does it take to get cream from the back and pour it into the metal container? Lastly Value - F, um $2.25 for a 12 ounce coffee?!? 1$ for a refill?!? Reeehaaaaeeeeallly!?! Pastries that are small, not good tasting and cost over $3. Lets face it there are other coffee houses nearby (an no not starbucks) that are cheaper and have better products with excellent service. There is one less than 7 blocks away that has better less expensive coffee and a brownie that will make you see gawd. ;) Not going to go back, tried it twice just to be sure as I really wanted to give it a chance. Wish others didnt rate it so highly.

Can we say terrible? I mean it is a cute place. Food is good. But let me tell you about the service. It is the worst! THE WORST! I have been here several times and each time I leave I think that it would be not a bad place at all if only the service was better. But today we just too much! I just ordered the same sandwich Ive had before. The chicken tarragon and turns out they switched the nuts from walnut to almond. Not a big deal UNLESS you are allergic to almonds. I picked them all out thinking it was my fault for not noticing a sign or the description. So I went back in, nope they just changed it up. I told the people behind the counter. They said they would check with the chef. Yeah. They said nothing else. No offer to resolve this. So... Jolas motto clearly is - you never know what will be in your food but you can count on crappy service every time! This was my last time here. I initially wrote the FB review while sitting outside the cafe, hoping to give them a chance to resolve the issue. But even though the guy I spoke to came outside to go to the bank on his bike, he looked at me and said nothing. Too bad...

Food was good however Ive been here twice and both times somethings gone wrong. 1.The first Tim I ordered the BLT but halfway through I realized there was no bacon.. I told them and the guy looked at me like I was crazy and said let me check if it comes with bacon... ITS A B.L.T?! WHATS THE B STAND FOR: BREAD?! he ended up bringing out a side of bacon and "a few extra slices" 2 the second time I thought Ill try the burrito. However scrambled eggs (which burritos normally have) gross me out. So I asked "how do you cook the eggs in the burrito?" Because I was planning to ask them to make it with Poached or a fried egg And the guy said "Poached" I was excited and said "great! Ill have the burrito" when I get my burrito Im stuck looking at a blob of scrambled eggs stuffed inside my otherwise perfect burrito.. I didnt say anything because I was obviously given misinformation. (Nothing was actually wrong with how my burrito was made)

My wife loves this place, but I dont see the appeal. You wait FOREVER and a day for anything and the food and coffee isnt worth it to me. I am not the biggest coffee fan, but I am a fan of places that function. Doing a phone order also throws things into confusion and they have trouble handing them. I guess they dont have to really care because it seems they get enough business just from locals walking in and standing in line for 30 minutes. I guess this just isnt the place for me and my review will end up being an outlier, but so be it. I just wish places could appeal more to people that dont have all day to wait in line and experience the ambiance of staring off into space.

I stopped for coffee here today with a friend; it was my first time here. I had a yummy vanilla latté and a coconut/chocolate macaroon, and had been sorely tempted after seeing a lox and bagel going by to someone else. Really, all the plates of food looked fresh and delicious. Prices were very reasonable, and the service was friendly and efficient. I have a friend who lives nearby, and I can definitely see meeting her for lunch (or breakfast) here. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and theres enough space between tables so that people can have private conversations. Theres also wi-fi available.

Update: JOLA wifi blocks all OHSU affiliated websites including Box, Sakai, O2, csg, library, email, etc. Dont go to Jola if you plan on getting OHSU related work done. Fantastic food and coffee, always pleasant beer selection at this local med-student and professional hang-out. The hours are great and the service is always top-notch. Recently they have upgraded the internet and it is quite fast. There are communal study tables as well as very nice tables for pow-wows and just hanging out. Jola is one of my favorite coffee shops and definitely the go-to spot in the Corbett area.

This cafe has an amazing set of baristas which make the very best decoration of steamed milk on the very top of your the best cup of Joe in Portland--Stumptown. They really know how to create the very overall experience for a simple cup of coffee to meet with friends and clients. The best overall--Oregonian attitude-- is that they are not a franchise representing "the man" as we all try to support local venues such as this. The opposite of the Starbucks attitude. Check it out, you wont regret it and will probably keep going back for more like me!

I never would have heard of this tucked-away shop if it werent for a friend who works in the area. Its now a frequent stop for me on my commute to work. The baristas have all been friendly and they take care to make your coffee well. Ive only tried one baked good, which was tasty and fresh (and not hard and dry like the gigantic chain based in Seattle.) I like the open, simply furnished space, too. A nice combination of old world and contemporary. And its super clean. Definitely look forward to more coffee from this cafe.

This is my neighborhood coffee house. They have stumptown iced coffee on tap which is what keeps me coming back time after time. I am a sucker for iced coffee and a place that makes a strong, flavorful one will keep me coming back time after time. The down side is the price of the food. The sandwiches and pastries are about $2 over priced. While they are good they are not worth the price that you are charged.

I love this place. The food is excellent, Ive had the breakfast biscuits, sandwiches, soups, and pastries and all are excellent. They have long communal tables for people who want to sit and work (along with regular ones for regular diners), so I dont have to feel guilty about spending a few hours there after eating lunch. Staff is great too. One of my favorite coffee shops in Portland.
