My family is livid. We have been working with Nancy from Cat Adoption Team to adopt a very specific cat. We had finally found her and Nancy said that she was ready to be adopted by us. Purringtons Cat Lounge is where she was being taken care of at the time so we needed to go there to do the adoption. They do not own the cat. When we came to meet our cat she was stressed, very tired and sleeping in a high loft. We left our cat alone as much as possible to not add additional stress because we already knew she was going to be a part of our family. The one exception was when Kristen (of Purringtons) got up and brought her down for my husband to hold. She was clearly agitated and wanted to be let go. I held her for a minute and let her go. The poor thing ran up and away from all of the people, desperate for peace and solitude. Purringtons told us that we could NOT adopt her yet because they thought she might have bonded with another cat that she came with and wanted to give it a few days to find out. I explained that we were unable to take on 2 and that we had already been told by Cat Adoption Team that she was just fine and ready to go home with us. The disagreement continued with Purringtons and finally my husband decided to call Nancy with Cat Adoption Team to bring them in. Of course the result is, yes, she is adoptable and that Cat Adoption Team had sent us down there to adopt this very cat. We were then told by Purringtons that we couldnt do the adoption for a 5 days. So we agreed to have her on hold there until they said we could pick her up. They gave us an application to take home and fill out. We asked if we needed to fill the paperwork out to hold her. Kristen said no, just get it in before our appointment to pick her up. We left our contact information since we were putting her on hold. Our family went home and excitedly talked of names and wondered what her personality would be like once she was finally settled. Over the weekend my husband received an email from Kristen at Purringons asking if we were still interested because she hadnt seen our paperwork. We said adamantly yes, we want her and we would have it over shortly. Kristens response was "thanks," and we continued to move forward. A few hours later we returned home to email it (after scanning it while we were out) and instead found an email apologizing because they had given our cat to another family (We were told we couldnt bring her home for days). We are in shock and so upset. When we called Purrintons to confront the situation, it was an escalated conversation. Sergio from Purrngtons said it was justified because we hadnt any official paperwork on file for our cat. He also made a comment that people who really want cats fill out the paperwork within 24 hours. We were NEVER told any such thing or given any reason to doubt that we would be able to bring our cat home. We are working with Cat Adoption Team to see if we can reconcile the situation now. Fortunately, Aeriel from Cat Adoption team has been equally shocked and very sympathetic. Cat Adoption Team has and continues to go above and beyond. Thankful to have their help as a silver lining. I would not go to Purringtons Cat Lounge to adopt or further, give them any of my business. This is not in any way a reflection upon Cat Adoption Team.

I mean, its cool to be able to sip your coffee with cats and I love the fact they are all adoptable. The only thing I really dont like is the staff. They treat their customers like they dont know anything about cats, even though the people most likely to come in are very cat savvy. They have regulars who come in and know all the cats but if your not one of them you might as well be a plebeian. One of the cats was very obese (not exaggerating) but yet they had him free feeding. I made a concerned comment and was shot down as if I was shaming him. Being a veterinary professional I believe I know when I see an unhealthy cat. Sure, its cute and they get to do what they want all day but the reality is, his life will be shortened by years and it is almost guaranteed he will develope health issues. Anything from Diabetes to arthritis, heart failure and hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver). Those are just a few of many other possible afflictions stemming from poor nutrition and obesity. I understand not everyone knows about these things, but I would expect more from a business devoted to cats. Advocate for animal wellness, dont encourage and represent unhealthy husbandry. Other than this, the place was enjoyable and the regulars seem to love coming to see the cats. The cafe is pretty good as well.

I would not recommend this café to anyone. I mean, first off, its barely even café. There is very limited food options and they all seemed over-priced and werent very good. They also only had drip coffee, which really wasnt what I would expect from somewhere that claims to be a café. Along with all that, their website says that children under 15 have to be accompanied by an adult, however, my friends and I who are all 15 came with one of our parents, just to drop us off, but they told her you had to be 16 and made her stay and pay, which just started out the negative experience. Once going into the actual cat room, we were extremely disappointed. The cats all seemed fairly unhappy and bored, and all they did was sleep, but if youre going make people pay $8 to go to a cat lounge, there should probably be some cats that you can actually pet or who are happy and interested in people. The room also seemed cramped and smelled bad. I got a pretty weird vibe from the staff and I generally felt uncomfortable throughout the whole experience. I might add, many of the pictures here are not at all what it was like, and they look pretty staged and fake to me. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone, as it was a waste of my time and money.

Im a little torn on how to rate this place. I like the concept of cat cafes, but in practice theyre just not great to me. As far as cat cafes go (Ive only been to this one), Ive heard this is one of the better ones. You pay by the hour and you just play with the cats. There was about eight of them or so when we got there. Pros: Clean. The place is well kept. The menu is decent-- it has some great beverages and snacks (although I think its weird to go into the café and do anything other than play with cats-- why would you really want to eat at place like this?) The staff here is really nice and helpful. They can teach you "how" to play with the different cats, tell you their stories, quirks, etc. If you end up really liking a cat, you can adopt it. Theres information about the cats available in a binder. Cons: I feel kind of bad for the cats for being subject to so many humans. Well... the pro list ended up being much longer than the con list, but the overall experience I dont think Id recommend. I think I was imaging a much larger café type space thats relaxing and peaceful to read and study at, where the cats would just roam freely instead of cats being photographed and teased w/ toys.
