My overall impression of Han Oak? Meh. Lets start with the decor: maybe its fun to hunt for the orange door without a sign and go into a courtyard that has some pretty green grass and some piles of stuff that should go to the dump... or maybe its not welcoming. Maybe its fun to eat in a converted garage, or maybe on a 50 degree PDX evening, youll be freezing at your tightly packed communal table. As for the food, there were some standouts -- the sprouted broccoli, the sweet and sour potatoes, the rhubarb shaved ice -- but most of it is not any better than you will get at a Korean restaurant in an actual Koreatown or at the cafeteria of a Korean spa. The short rib and the asparagus covered with white goop are so dry (the first) and dull (the second) that we didnt even finish them. Green strawberries taste like.. exactly nothing. Combined with a small cocktail list and an uninspired collection of wine choices, I felt full but utterly ripped off for the $75 it cost me for the prix fixe (now $45), add on dumplings, wine, and tip. Ladies, take your $75 and drive up to the Olympus Spa in Tacoma, where youll get a relaxing day, soaks, sauna, AND a delicious Korean meal.

So many courses for such a great price! My husband and I came here for dinner last Friday and we werent sure what to expect but the waitress was very helpful and explained how the meal would come out and what we would get as we had made reservations for the multi-course dinner. Each course was delicious and each new course became our favorite throughout the dinner. We additionally ordered dumplings and the cauliflower snacks which I highly recommend adding on. We got to sit at the counter and watch them pulling the noodles for the soup and also making the dumplings. You can see how fresh everything is and the tenderness and care they put into each plate. The cocktails were highly inventive and included ingredients like wine foam!

Out-of-town visitor. This is a completely honest review. First of all, the atmosphere and the layout of this place is amazing. It feels like youre in someones home and not at a restaurant. I love how you can just lounge on the grass. However, I came here for the a la carte food and unfortunately, it does not live up to the hype. The buckwheat sesame noodles were decent but not memorable. The dumplings are absolutely overpriced (at roughly $2 per dumpling). If youve never had Korean food and have nothing to compare to, chances are that you will find that this restaurant is amazing. If youre looking for genuinely good Korean food that is priced accordingly, look elsewhere.

Location: Like others have said, super hipster place without sign operating in a garage. Its 85 degrees and your butt sweat eating food there. If Im paying $12 for a tiny bowl of noodle, at least have air con or a fan. Food: The noodles look nothing like the ones I had in Korea. Soup was just salty, couldnt really taste any explosive flavor that makes it worth it. My sujaebi was basically a bowl with some liquid, noodle, store-bought roasted seaweed, and few meager thin slices of radish. Service: Its pay for food at register and serve yourself.

The wait wasnt too bad since they do not accept RSVP. We came on a Sunday so it was a ramen menu with some dumpling and black bean paste noodles. Im from SF so I was expecting more for the price but it wasnt terrible. Would I go back? Maybe on another day when they have the pre fix menu offered Tuesday-Saturday.

Reservation prix fixe dinners on Fridays and Saturdays, but check out the dumplings and noodle nights on Sundays and Mondays, which are first come, first served. The Korean fried chicken is delicious and all the dumplings and noodle dishes I had were amazing. Cant wait to go back!

Really enjoyed dining at this hard-to-find spot. The prix-fixe menu is awesome and reasonably priced and they were quick to accommodate the vegetarian one in our party. Only wish there was a little more of a reception area as it was dumping rain on the night we came in.

Sunday and Monday dumpling and noodle day was great - I preferred the pork and chive option if forced to choose. Love the space and feel of the restaurant and the food was spectacular! They just added an all time favorite dish, Hwe Dup Bap, to the menu too.

We went for one of their noodle and dumpling nights. No reservations, walk in only! Food was amazing! We sat up at the bar and watched to bustling kitchen making hand torn noodles and steaming dumplings. I love this place!

Ate at the bar by myself. It was amazing. The service was across the board kind and attentive. Never went without water nor food. Its a great deal and you need to go before they justifiably raise the prices!

Great set meals make it easy to enjoy a Korean brunch or dinner without being confused on what to get because its already a lil bit of everything

Unique food options, open kitchen, and relaxed atmosphere. Weve been a couple times and had a nice experience both times. Recommend checking out.

The food here is delicious and the interior is super cute. My favorite was the poached chicken and hand cut noodle soup! Cant wait to go back.

Ridiculously great Korean food. Peter is one of the best chefs working in Portland for sure. Brunch is a treat too. Try a kimchi Bloody Mary.

Poor service, mediocre food, almost no up front customer service. The only thing they seem good at is apologizing for screwing up.

Loved the minimalist interior and diy feel. But the food was forgettable for the most part.
